Blog Hop with Ribbon Resource and Stampendous

Yes!  You made it to Friday!  All week long, the Prima Ribbonista's from The Ribbon Resource, (the online retail store for May Arts Ribbon) and the design team from Stampendous, are having a super fun blog hop.  Today is the last day and obviously, they saved the best for last, right?  Haha!  Be sure and scroll to the end for prize details.......

I thought I would create two different projects with the same stamp set.  I was sent the Animal Mobile stamp set which includes 11 different stamps and is one of their newer releases.

Now, I could have gone for the obvious and made a colorful rainbow-ish card, as pictured in the stamp set above, but I like to showcase the not so obvious on occasion, and went with a Noah's Ark kind of Zoo-like theme, for my first card.

Yes, I know, there are no sock monkeys on Noah's Ark, haha, but I did it anyway.  Who doesn't love sock monkeys?  I took the mobile "umbrella" stamp and turned it upside down, colored it with the same earth tones that I used for the animals and folded the panels so it would pop out on the card.  I used my Champagne Two-tone Paper Raffia to make an embellishment that resembles a lion's mane, which fits with my theme.

The next product I received was the Summer Shine Embossing Powder.  Oh my.  I love, love, love embossing powders.

This card is very CAS.  I actually don't do a lot of CAS cards so I stepped out of my comfort zone a bit, which is always good to do.

I used a paint dabber and swiped some white distress paint onto my card, sprinkling the powder and heating it, one color and one swipe at a time, so the colors wouldn't mix.  I masked the star stamp to get a shorter length and have them dangle at different levels.

Now for the ribbon, I used the wired Pom Poms.  Just trim a 3" section, twist your pom poms together, then pull and stretch out the pom poms to "fluff" it up and hot glue it to make clouds.
So easy!

The Ribbon Resource is giving away three $25.00 gift cards, plus Stampendous is giving away a prize pack as well.  Be sure you comment on all the stops Monday through Friday of this week.  If you missed the previous days, here are some links to help you out:

Chilly Snowman for Two Paper Divas

Here in the South, we rarely get snow.  By now, you've heard of the Blizzard of 2016.  I have family in Baltimore and New York that have really been hit hard.  As a child growing up in upstate New York, I used to love sledding, making snowmen and snow angels..... I have wonderful memories of snowy winters.  The adults who have to deal with it?  Not so much!   So when the Blizzard of 2016 touched our little corner of the South, and we didn't get much, I had to break in this new stamp from Two Paper Divas, called "Chill of Winter".

As you can see, I paper pieced my snowman.  I achieved this by stamping him 3 times; once on white textured cardstock, once on my background of choice and once on patterned paper for the scarf.

I trimmed the white cardstock so I could just lay it on top of my stamped background, then trimmed my scarf and ran both items through my Xyron sticker machine which gives full edge to edge coverage and also made my scarf super sticky so I could add some "fringe" to my scarf.

Here are some close-ups, including the silver bell included in the stamp set.   There are 7 stamps included in this set and one sentiment.
Got to have this stamp set for yourself?  Of course you do!  Visit the link below and check out other project ideas for this stamp.  There are some amazing creations.

Lastly, I added a snowy landscape which is hand-pierced and stamped with the accompanying sentiment.

Anything Goes Challenge with DoubleClick Skittles

Welcome to the newest challenge at DoubleClick Skittles!

Challenge #31- Anything Goes (Week 2)

Jan 20 - Feb 2

My project today features the Watermelon Skittles paired with this Adornit Art Play image that I traced and colored onto vellum.  The image almost appears to float on the page, don't you think?  That's because the foam squares holding up my vellum are hidden by my Skittles.  Hey, they're decorative and functional!

For my background, I lined my card with washi tape,  Next, I taped a piece of die cut vellum to my Adornit image and began tracing the entire design onto my vellum.

To finish, I colored the image with my Tombow Dual Brush pens and added touches of glitter glue and topped off my project with some pretty May Arts Ribbon.

If you don't already have these lovely bubblicious gems, what are you waiting for?

Vintage Truck for Two Paper Divas

This week, I'm featuring an amazing stamp from Two Paper Divas.  Back in the day, my dad used to work for Chrysler in New York City.  He was a company man his entire life and an avid race car fan as well, working in a pit crew at one point and racing stock cars as well.  He loved to drive and drive fast!  Of course, I had to put some ink to this cool, vintage stamp called "Truck".

I used one marker only; Kuretake Zig Clean Colors in Oatmeal.  I did use a white gel pen on the headlights but nothing else.  The papers from the Heartfelt Creations "Every Day Heroes" collection paired absolutely perfectly, don't you think?

Got to have this stamp for yourself?  Of course you do!  Visit the link below and check out other project ideas for this stamp.  There are some amazing creations.

My father passed away many years ago, but my Step-father, who is also an amazing dad, used to own an old red pick-up truck.  I think I'm going to give this to him for Father's Day.  I know he will absolutely love it.

Anything Goes Challenge at DoubleClick Skittles

Welcome to the newest challenge at DoubleClick Skittles!

Challenge #31- Anything Goes

Jan 20 - Feb 2

As a papercrafter, I will admit; I hoard paper.  I love paper in all shapes and forms.  Each collection is kept together in it's entirety, including scraps.  Ok, so I'm obsessed!  I'll admit it.  One of my favorite collections is from DCWV, Prism Play.  Did you know rainbow colors are making a comeback?  Yup, that is the thing for 2016, I kid you not.  Rainbow colors are going to be everywhere which is a pretty good thing for DoubleClick Skittles, since they come in every color of the rainbow!

I wanted to feature multiple colors of Skittles on my pretty card.  To begin, I used my paper piercer to poke holes on both sides of each hot air balloon basket, to tie bows with my May Arts Ribbon.

Once I tied all my bows, I used my hot glue gun to firmly secure my Skittles.  The colors I'm featuring today are Watermelon, Purple Twilight, Lettuce, Stream and Sunset Orange.  Aren't they just gorgeous?!

Blog Hop With Ribbon Resource and Cardmaker Magazine

(FTC disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links so, if you purchase a product using the link I may receive a small commission. I only participate in affiliate programs that feature products that I use and love. Your purchase price is not affected in any way, by using my links.)

Can I tell you how excited I am to be hopping with two amazing companies today?  That's right, the Prima Ribbonista's from May Arts Ribbon and the online retail store, Ribbon Resource, have joined forces with Cardmaker Magazine for a fun blog hop and of course, prizes will be involved!

I'll have all the details at the end of my post and the hop line-up as well, but first, let me share my project with you.  I promise, I'll be brief!

For the Valentine themed hop, I've made a Scalloped Heart Shaped Card which can be displayed with it's own die cut stand.  Plus, I'll be featuring some of my favorite products and ribbon from The Ribbon Resource.

The ribbons I've used today include:

First, I chose some pretty heart stamps from Two Paper Divas called String of Hearts, stamped onto watercolor paper, then embossed with clear embossing ink.

Next, I grabbed a few of my favorite Tombow dual brush markers and started coloring.  When I was finished coloring, I fussy cut the hearts.  I'll be using my Ribbon Resource burlap string to string up my hearts.

I  did a little watercoloring using my watercolor brush to dilute some of the color, and then blotted with a paper towel.  When the hearts were dry, I colored in some of the polka dots with a white gel pen and added some glitter glue to the dots on a few of the smaller hearts.

Next, I created a shaped card with my Cricut Explore, using a basic shape available in the online design space.  If you are a design space user, you are welcome to my file for free.  Just log in to your account, then copy and paste this link.

https://us.cricut.com/design/#/canvas/35173013

The design includes a 5"x 5" heart shaped card (extra heavy cardstock recommended, cut with the deep blade) an overlay for cutting a heart with patterned paper, a heart to use as a backing to cover the ribbon strings inside the card, and a scored folding stand-up display piece.

Here's a side view of the stand up piece.  The top scored section and bottom scored section are  folded and adhered to the back of the card.

Now, let me tell you about my ribbons.  I've got two rows of burlap string strung up, with my hearts glued to the string.  Underneath, I've taken strips of sheer glitter ribbon and adhered to the smaller heart that is part of the svg cut file above.  Lastly, I created a pretty silver twine bow that is looped 3 times and finished off with a pink adhesive rosette.

Here's the hop line-up.  Don't forget to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway at the Ribbon Resource Blog.  Two $25.00 giftcards will be given away.  Details are on the RR blog.

Additional supplies:

Tombow Mono Aqua Glue
