Fall Leaves Inky Card feat. Colorado Craft Company

Fall is officially here and I have a card featuring stamps from Colorado Craft Company. The stamp set I'm using today is "Oak Leaves and Acorns" from the Big & Bold collection. Scroll down for a few brief details. You'll find product links at the end of this post.

For my background, I used a Simon Hurley rectangle stencil and ink blended on an A2 card panel using Ranger Distress Oxide Vintage Photo and Distress Ink in Carved Pumpkin and Fossilized Amber with my blender brushes.

I also added some water splashes, blotted with a paper towel and heat set.

Next, I used my Misti stamp positioner and stamped over my ink blending using hybrid Leather ink from Scrapbookcom, adding a little more of my distress ink colors on the stamped leaves with a water brush and ink smooshed on my craft mat.

I was actually going in a different direction and was going to keep my image on a simple white background until.....I accidentally got some of my distress ink splotched on the white and it could not be fixed. Rather than start over, I trimmed out my stamped and ink blended rectangle and created a layered card with it.

 

I adhered some cardstock from my stash and a piece of embossed brown cardstock for a bit more texture using an older Darice embossing folder.

 

I also used a white gel pen to embellish my acorns plus white paint splatters and Pops of color liquid embellishment in Chocolate Kiss and glitter glue in Snowflake. There's so much sparkle that's hard to capture in these photos.

Lastly, my sentiment from the same stamp set was heat embossed on my brown cardstock then punched out with a circle punch.

Grungy Fungi Stitched Card for Spellbinders

Hello friends, I have some grungy fungi for you today, haha. This card was created for Spellbinders and features the September Stitching Die of the Month Club selection, "Enchanted Stitched Mushrooms". Enchanted, they are! I absolutely love these dies and I went for more of a grungy theme by enhancing my die cuts with Ranger distress ink. Scroll down for details. You'll also find product links at the end of this post.

This stitching die set includes dies to make 2 different sizes of mushrooms, a leafy stem die and two sentiment dies. 

Since I knew I wanted to go with a grungy theme, I started by trimming dark brown cardstock to back my card panel that was blended all around the edges with Ranger Ink Ground Espresso distress ink. My panel was cut using my Platinum 6 die cut system and another die from my stash; the Diamond Argyle Etched Dies from the Stitchmas Christmas collection.

Next, I ink blended all of my mushroom elements around the edges with the exception of the white outline that is backed behind the mushroom top.

For my stitching, I used 2 strands for each element of  DMC embroidery floss #543; a light beige or off white color. Spellbinders has a 5 pk bundle of neutral DMC floss that would work really well!

The papers that I used are from a variety of brands and just colors that I picked from my stash that I thought would coordinate well for what I had in mind. I also hand trimmed and tore some paper for a sloped hill effect near the bottom of my card.

I cut several layers of cardstock for my die cut sentiment in dark brown. For the top layer, I cut the word with a leftover piece of white cardstock and just blended a little ink on top with the leftover ink on my blender brush. I kept it light so it would pop and coordinate next to that dark brown cardstock.

To further embellish my mushrooms, I added  tiny dots of my Pops of Color liquid embellishment called Chocolate Kiss.

If you'll notice the smaller mushroom, I glued on some of the circular cuts that were leftover bits from my die cut brown mushroom.

Fall Flowers and Gratitude Card for Erin Lee Creative

Hello friends. I've been making lots of gratitude cards in the last month or so and I have another one for you today. This card features 3 different dies from Erin Lee Creative. She is so innovative with her products and I absolutely love her designs, particularly her handwriting fonts. I also purchased the  Jumbo Wildflower die not long ago and, after seeing a neighbor's gorgeous Black-Eyed Susan's in her yard, decided to jazz up some wildflower die cuts. I'm all about Fall cardmaking right now so my color scheme will also follow suit.

I started by ink blending my blooms with Ranger Distress Ink in Fossilized Amber. For my leaves I used Ranger/Wendy Vecchi MakeArt Ink in Fern Green. Unfortunately, Ranger discontinued that line of Wendy Vecchi ink not long ago.

For the centers of my flowers I used my Scrapbookcom Pops of Color in Chocolate Kiss. I filled in a circle of this brown liquid embellishment which leaves a glossy finish. I used a sharp tool to pull out tiny lines all around the center, while the liquid was still wet. You can also use a toothpick.

I let this dry naturally on my craft mat but you can also use a craft heat tool. 

Next, I die cut my Rattan Arch 2 Die from Erin Lee Creative on white cardstock with my Platinum 6.  Also, I use the Spellbinders Tool N One to quickly and easily get all those die cut bits out. I backed the lower section of my panel die with green patterned paper and trimmed a piece that would go in the center of my arch.

My backdrop consists of a trimmed piece of coordinating dark orange paper from the same paper pad and was adhered to my white card.

I placed some of my flowers behind the top section of my rattan die cut and also around my arch. I decided to cut up some of my flowers and placed them wherever I wanted. Some are adhered directly to my arch and some are popped up on adhesive foam. I did pop my arch up on adhesive foam as well.

Lastly, I die cut the word "Thank You" from one of the dies in the ELC Thank You Hero Die set.

Please note, the stitched oval die cut under my sentiment is from a die that I've had in my stash for years and honestly, I don't even remember the brand. 

**Here's a bonus tip for you - To easily make a really nice dimensional and layered die cut word stand out, you really need at least 3-4 die cuts glued together. I find the easiest way is to trim two sections of cardstock (I used black) fold each one in half and apply some adhesive to the inside of one of the halves. Press down and adhere. Lay your die on top and run through your die cut machine. 

Now you have two die cuts already adhered. Repeat the process for another die cut. Glue both die cuts together. It's so much easier to glue 2 die cuts consisting of 4 layers, than to glue 4 individual layers. You're welcome!
