Winter Fox Christmas Card

Hey friends, I've created a winter scene for today's card, featuring the Peaceful Fox stamp set from Colorado Craft Company. Scroll down for a few brief, creative details. To begin, I used my Misti stamp positioner to stamp my tree in the center of an A2 white card panel with my black hybrid ink, which is great for coloring with alcohol markers.

Before coloring my tree, I used my cloudy skies stencil from Heffy Doodle and my Catherine Pooler ink in Pebble and stenciled my clouds with blending brushes, trying to avoid the white space near the center of my tree.

Some of the gray ink did get on my leaves, but I'm ok with it. I simply colored over it with my Olive Copic Marker.

All of my coloring was done with Copic markers which I buy from Scrapbookpal. I used brown/orange colors for my fox and they're linked at the end of this post. BONUS TIP: Leave a little white space on the tail and ears of the fox or embellish with a white gel pen.

I also stamped and colored on the inside of my card. I don't always do this but it was quick and easy, so why not?! I did some partial stamping, by stamping off the edge with my tree stamp. I have a larger Misti for this, but you can also just use a large acrylic block. Just make sure you have a juicy ink pad to get the best inking the first time. 

I also dotted on lots of "snow" using the handle end of a small paintbrush. I glued on a few sequins for a little sparkle too. My sentiment was stamped and fussy cut, with a touch of ink blending around the edges. 

I also wanted to tie in some colors with some of my paper stash, so I chose a green solid color from a paper pad and trimmed a strip, then found some brown/striped Authentique paper in my stash that I've had forever. I think it all ties in very nicely!

Star of Bethlehem Christmas Card

I'm sharing this one layer Christmas card with ink blending and masking featuring the "Unto Us" stamp set from Erin Lee Creative. When I saw this set from the new release, which reminds me so much of a continuous line drawing, well....I had to have it! Plus, I absolutely love making scripture Christmas cards.

I started by stamping my image on an A2 size card panel using my Misti stamp positioner. Leaving my stamp in place, I then laid down a wide strip of my Mint tape. It's a slightly tacky tape that's repositionable, and you can cut stamped images on it for masking.

I trimmed as much as I could with my scissors and lined it back over my stamped card panel.  There's a spot in the very middle near the shepard's staff that needed removing though, so I grabbed my craft knife and gently trimmed that section out. The mint tape is very thin so if you don't apply too much pressure trimming, it shouldn't cut your card panel.

Next, I ink blended my scene with 4 different distress Ranger Inks; Fossilized Amber, Carved Pumpkin, Kitsch Flamingo and Prize Ribbon.

Once finished, I peeled  of my masking tape.

I used a variety of gray and brown/tan Copic Markers to color my shepards and orange/yellow for my fire. I also drew out and filled in some black below the scene and another strip below that to create a rocky, sand-like base. Basically, I'm experimenting! But I do like the look.

I stamped my scripture sentiment next. There are 2 scripture sentiments included in the Unto Us stamp set. Lastly, I heat embossed the star included in this set, then dotted lots of stars with acrylic white paint and some Stickles glitter glue. I even painted in a few comets, dipping the sharp end of my weeding tool into the paint and swiping onto my sky.

I also used my white gel pen to make some dots around my fire flame and logs to represent sparks.
