ADORNit and Mountain Plains Crafters Blog Hop + a prize!

On behalf of Mountain Plains Crafters, I'm so excited to share several projects with you today done in cooperation with ADORNit.  Be sure to scroll down to find your clue and hop to Deb's page after you're done here, to see her fabulous creations!

If you get lost on the way, start over here: http://www.adornit.com/blog/art-play-blog-hop/

Starting out as Carolee's Creations, Carolee McMullin has expanded to what is now known as ADORNit.  They do everything; clothing, papercrafts, fabric and wood products.  We are using a wide range of products in our creations for you today, including Art Play Prints, Art Play Paintables designed by artist Lindsay Ostrom, Wood panels, fabric and more.

*****
I have 5 projects that I'd like to share with you today with a brief description.  I'll have more details with additional photos and/or tutorials on my blog later this week.

1.  First, is a mixed media card using an Art Play Paintable design from the "Ladybug" collection, along with ADORNit blender paper.  I've embossed a piece of tan core paper and sanded it, then layered it onto the blender paper.

The card stock used for the card below is from the ADORNit Blender Basics paper pack.  It's good, heavy, double-sided paper and I simply trimmed the 12x12 piece to 6" and scored it.  It has a fun chevron design on the inside that I can embellish as well!  The papers used, from the Blender Basics, are "Mustard Damask" and "Blue Chevron".  I also embossed the Art Play paper before watercoloring, using a swirl design that coordinates with the smoky swirls trailing from the camper.  The watercoloring was done using Tombow Dual Brush pens, and the ribbon/twine is from May Arts Ribbon.  Don't you love the torn paper effect?  I love to rip paper.  Get's the stress out!  :)

2.  I made this candle using a heat transfer process involving tissue paper, wax paper and a heat tool. I'll have the tutorial available on my blog if you're interested in more information, later this week.   It really is an easy technique.   But, to sum it up, I traced, then colored the Art Play Paintable design from the "Love You" collection onto tissue paper, trimmed it and lined it up on my candle, then placed wax paper over the design holding tightly, and heated with a heat embossing tool.   It's an amazing technique that yields beautiful, colorful results.   This design was also colored with the Tombow Dual brush pens and traced with a Marvy Le Pen fine point black pen.

**I'm so happy that this candle was chosen to be on display at theADORNit booth for the CHA Winter Mega Show next week!**

3.  I had such fun with this large wood bracket.  I started by tracing an outline of the fabric using the 11" ADORNit pointed wood bracket itself as a template.  I did the same with the Art Print and a smaller bracket. The ADORNit polka dot fabric (Bebop Dot Black) was adhered to the wood bracket using Tombow Xtreme adhesive, then Mod Podged.  Next, I added the trimmed ADORNit Art Print called "Craft Room Display"and Mod Podged that as well, using 2 coats.  The glitter crust was painted on first with Plaid Folk Art glitter metallic paint, then dusted with Decoart Glamour Dust glitter.

To make the bows, I cut strips of the same fabric, fringed the fabric on both sides and fashioned into those cute bows.  These are secured with generous doses of Tombow Mono Aqua Glue.  The large enamel dots are from We R Memory Keepers

4.  This wall hanging was made with the ADORNit 8" pointed wood bracket panel,  ADORNit blender paper "Pink Chevron" with ADORNit "Burnished Mustard" fabric rope which I fringed and knotted.  The Art Play Paintable used is from the "Love You" Collection.  I also made some quilled flowers using the same ADORNit blender paper, "Green Pixie Dots" and a scalloped flower die from My Favorite Things Die-namics.  If you look close, you can see the little green leaf petals also made with the Green Pixie Dots paper.  So cute!

5.  Lastly I have a sweet little Stand-up display using the Art Play Paintable from the "Happy" Collection.  I had originally planned to make this into a tag, but then decided to make it stand up, so you can prop it on a dresser, or even a computer or file cabinet as I have a strip of Xyron magnetic tape on the bottom.  This was watercolored with Tombow (yes, my go-to pens) dual brush markers, and white gel pen for the swirly clouds.  The dimensional grass was made using Flower Soft Meadow and tacky glue.  I trimmed the "fence" from a piece of designer paper and hand scalloped the top of the fence with scissors.

Thank you Carolee and the gang from ADORNit for allowing us the opportunity to have fun and play with these wonderful products that have inspired us!

Again, if you'd like more details and tutorials on how I made the Candle or any other project, I'll have those listed Tuesday through Saturday this week on my blog at: http://wavingmywand.blogspot.com or  http://www.facebook.com/wavingmywand so bookmark and check back.
