National Coloring Book Day with MPC

Who knew that there's a day to celebrate coloring?  Yes, indeed, August 2nd is devoted to National Coloring Book Day.  Unless you're a crafter who's been living under a rock, you probably all ready know that adult coloring books are super hot right now.   It's been proven that coloring helps you relax and reduce stress.

Well the girls at Mountain Plains Crafters are always looking for a reason to get crafty; today is no exception.  We're featuring the fun coloring pages of the ADORNit Art Play Paintables.  This line was first introduced late last year and was designed by artist, Lindsay Ostrom, Creator of Cuteness!

ADORNit is coming out with an entire line of super duper fantastic coloring books, and personally, this chic can't wait!  There's an entire line-up of fabulous artists who have a hand in designing the new coloring books.  Alas, I'm getting ahead of myself because they won't be released for another month or so.  More about that in coming days.

Now, for the details on this fun 6x6 card - I colored this beauty with my new Zig Clean Color markers, a white gel pen, and touches of Wink of Stella glitter pen in Clear.  For the background, I ran one of my yellow, blue and green markers across an acrylic block, then used my Tim Holtz waterbrush pen to dilute and spread the color around.   I've added some of the ADORNit blender paper as my backdrop behind the May Arts netting ribbon and also accessorized with a chevron bow and natural parrot green burlap string for grass, both May Arts Ribbon products, as well.

The frame is from DCWV and was the perfect size to border this colored project.  I actually flipped it over to the all white side and inked it up with my new Hero Arts ombre green ink, going around the upper, outer edges with the dark shade and working my way inwards with the lighter shades.

The final sparkles are thanks to DoubleClick Skittles bubble embellishments in Glitter Bellini, and tiny sequins from the Christmas mix from Pretty Pink Posh.  They were glued with Ranger Stickles glitter glue in Gold.  I added a touch of Tombow Aqua Mono Glue to the Skittles, to make sure they stayed put.

So, there you have it.  My tribute to National Coloring Book Day 2015.  Be sure and check out all the design team creations, and get to coloring!

    1. Loving it! Such cute work! I've seen some of the coloring books for adults while in hobby Lobby the other day. I still like to create with stamped images myself. Love using my copics or Color Burst and water brush pens. Who knows maybe it might be fun playing with the new books. I love trying anything new!
