Cocoa Card for The Ribbon Resource and Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Hop

Welcome to the Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop!

If you love coffee, cocoa or tea and making cards, this is the place for you!  You can link up your winter themed beverage card right at the link below.  There's lots of prizes and so much inspiration to be had; you don't want to miss it!

Since National Cocoa Day is Dec. 13th, I thought I'd create a fun cocoa card today, for The Ribbon Resource, Super Sponsor of this event.

This card features several fun ribbon embellishments including silver twine snowflake centers, a glittery ribbon snow bank, a wired pearl Christmas tree and more.  I even made my own little warm footie socks, to compliment the sentiment,  from the Hello Winter collection by
Echo Park Paper.  Stick around for a few minutes and follow along!  It's easy enough for the kids to do too; cutting and taping - simple as that!

You'll need these ribbons: (Full supply list at end of post)

First, trim and score card to 5.5" x 6".  To make the glittery snow banks, I trimmed my stitched die cut frame to the desired shape and length that I wanted, then ran my Xyron adhesive across the top, fully covering with adhesive.  Lay down a 5" section of Sheer Glitter Ribbon and trim around the edges.  Repeat for each snow bank, adding extra strips of ribbon if necessary for larger pieces.  How easy is that?

Isn't it gorgeous?  And so easy.  No mess either, which is always a bonus.

(*Let me interrupt this message for an important announcement!!  You can get this glitter ribbon in a 5 yard bundle for $6.95 right now, plus for every purchase before Christmas, you get a free 25 yard roll of ribbon, plus..... you may get free shipping when you head over to the the Ribbon Resource site and get the pop up box offer!  Woo hoo!  Merry Christmas to YOU!)

Next, I made little foot socks by drawing out my own little hand designed sock, then tracing the template on the back of two pieces of cardstock that I trimmed from the paper collection, approximately a 4" square.  Just for fun, I ran my Xyron adhesive runner over the top of my square, then added the sheer gold ribbon.  After tracing, I trimmed out my little socks.  Now my socks have a little shimmer.   Adorbs!  One is popped up on a foam square, which adds some dimension.  By the way, the sock dimension for each is approximately 1.5".

I thought I would go ahead and turn these little sock footies into a .png file and share it with you today, so you can upload to your preferred cutting file system.  I've uploaded it to my Cricut Explore and can now cut as many of these cuties as I want on patterned paper, or to color in.  Enjoy!
Save it to your computer by placing your cursor over the slipper sock, right click, and save.  You can print this out and hand trim, or even use the Print and Cut feature of the Explore.

To finish things off, I wrapped a 10" strand of wired pearls around this tree and popped the tree out with foam squares.  The little snowflake centers are easy to make by wrapping a section of twine around an adhesive dot.  Tuck the end of your strip underneath and add another adhesive dot on the bottom to secure.

Make a little bow with the silver curling ribbon to accent the sentiment and you are done.  Fun little details that make for a special card for the cocoa lover in your life.

Don't forget, The Ribbon Resource is giving one lucky winner a $25.00 gift card.  Don't miss out!  Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you enjoyed my project today.
