Winter Blog Hop at Coffee Loving Cardmakers

It's time for the Winter Blog Hop at Coffee Loving Cardmakers!  If you're not familiar with this fabulous group of papercrafters, it's all about coffee, cocoa and tea!   Link up a newly created project, for this hop, at the link above.  It's a ton of fun and lasts all week long, starting today.

We have a ton of super sponsors, flash prizes and more, not to mention hot, steamy mugs of inspiration.

(Please note, I've created convenient affiliate links throughout this post, where applicable, for your shopping pleasure.)

I'm using one of my favorite sets today, to create this wintry CAS card; Sunny Studio Mug Hugs.  If you love sending handmade Christmas cards, sometimes it can be overwhelming and extremely time consuming.  And, if you're like me, sometimes you procrastinate?  Yup, I'm the world's worst.  I make cards all year long for various design teams but when it's time to sit down and just spend time creating for family and friends, I have a hard time committing to multiples.  I have a tendency to want to add more, more, more and it can be overwhelming.

I want to show you that with just a few simple steps, you can create beautiful, multiple cards without worrying so much about the creative process.

Isn't this set awesome.  You could do so many different things with all these fun holiday images but I chose to use only two; the mug with whipped cream and sentiment.  To make the reverse image, I used my Misti and mirror image rubber stamp.  This allows you to create a mirror image of your stamp.  Since I stamped on Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper, it worked best for me to stamp with clear Versamark ink, then add my Hot Chocolate Nuvo Embossing Powder and heat with my emboss tool. (For best results, swipe a dryer sheet across your paper to avoid excess powder around powdered image)  For the reverse image, stamp your image onto a mirror image stamp at least 2-3 times with Versamark, then gently place your paper on top and rub the paper.  Carefully lift, then emboss with your powder.

I stamped some more images onto Echo Park Paper's Artic Plaid designer paper for some fun paper piecing and added interest.  The cups handles were watercolored using my Marvy Le Plume II teal colored marker and a water brush.  Just swipe the marker on a craft mat and pick up the color to paint with your damp water brush.  Easy!  I used the same technique to color my whipped cream.  Blot with a paper towel to add some light effect.

My sentiment was inked with Memento black dye ink and to enhance, I used a black glitter marker for sparkle.  My panel was cut with the largest die from my Spellbinders Rectangle pierced dies and popped up onto white trimmed white cardstock.
