Holiday Challenge at Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps

We're kicking off the latest challenge at Crackerbox & Suzy Stamps.  The theme?  All holidays!  Yup, whatever your little heart desires.  Any holiday card is welcome in this challenge, as long as it's a new creation, no back linking.  You can link up, here:  Holiday challenge

I'm all about Halloween right now, so I created a Ranger Ink background for my spooky scene.   I used, 5 different Halloween stamps, which, by the way, are on sale this month.  Get an additional 15% off Halloween and Fall stamps when added to your shopping cart.  Woo hoo!

Let me share a few key tips on how I made this card.  I wanted my silhouette images to really pop, so I inked all my images with black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  This also allows me to create my blended background without any smudging.

For my moon, I used a 1" circle punch to punch out my moon before blending.  After the background blending, I adhered my moon back onto my card,  and used a gray brush marker and water brush to create the shade effect.  I also used the water brush to dilute some of the ink around the moon for a halo effect.  Blot with a paper towel to lift off the diluted ink.  Magic!

Lastly, I added paint droplets to paint stars in the sky and a white gel pen to accent my tree limbs, spider and pumpkin so it would appear as if moonlight was shining on them.  A little bit of water splatters were also tossed about on my background and dabbed with a paper towel.
