Spellbinders Birthday Celebration Collection

Hello friends! The new Birthday Celebration Collection drops today at Spellbinders and they sent me some products to create with. I'm so happy to share this trio of cards with you! I'll be showcasing some future collections as well and will keep you up to date when those release in the next month.

For the card above, I created with the newly released "It's Party Time" stamp set and "Stitched Fanfare" cover plate, along with the Stitched Medallion Die in my stash. I've seen a lot of creators use the stitch plates without stitching and I used it in that manner today, allowing the green cardstock to peep through and pull out the green in my stitching on the Medallion die cut. I paired two strands each of a blue and green embroidery thread for my topper. I really like the effect and how it complements the green peeking out from under that gorgeous die plate cut. I'll be bringing you more stitched products soon so stay tuned. It's so much fun!

I also masked my sentiment so I could stamp one of the words in blue ink. I love that this stamp set also includes sentiments that are not just for birthdays. It's always a plus when you can get more mileage with your stamp sets.

Let me also mention that you'll want to check to see if these die plates will work with your die cut machine, if you use something other than a Spellbinders Platinum 6.

For this next card pictured above, I broke out my Glimmer Hot Foil System to foil with the new "So Many Candles" hot foil plate, using the Aura hot foil. It's a very subtle, shimmery gold and one of my favorites. I should note that all my foiling is done on the Spellbinders Glimmer 
Specialty cardstock which is a synthetic cardstock. I know other creators who use other types of cardstock but honestly, I haven't had much luck getting great results with other brands. I have, however, had absolutely GREAT results with this synthetic cardstock! I highly recommend that you give it a try!

I used alcohol markers to color my candles and stamped my sentiment from It's Party Time. I fussy cut around the stamped sentiment, adhered it to colored cardstock, then fussy cut the colored cardstock, following the same contour and popped it up on adhesive foam.

 

Lastly, I wanted to create a card that followed a patriotic theme, creating masked sentiments from It's Party Time to provide a more generic celebration, other than birthday. I know, it's a birthday set, right? I always like to show other ways to use an intended set. More mileage, remember?

Again, I foiled on the Spellbinders Glimmer cardstock with silver foil and the So Many Candles hot foil plate, then colored with alcohol markers. I did some splatters with Ranger dye ink blended with isoproply alcohol and created a focal point for my sentiments that included some puffy fabric stars from my stash.
