Non-Traditional Christmas Card feat. SweetNSassy Stamps

Hello lovelies. Today's card is not your typical Christmas card. I'm creating with products from Sweet N Sassy Stamps, featuring the Christmas Hymn Word Art stamp set and leaves from the Vintage Holly stamp set. First, I absolutely had to have the Christmas Hymn Word Art stamp set. I'm a church pianist and have a special affinity for hymn songs. The words to this hymn were written by Charles Wesley in 1744. It was actually written as "Come Though Long Expected Jesus" and commonly found in Protestant hymnals. 

I wanted to create a card reflecting old parchment, something out of an old book or old hymnal.

I thought the best way to proceed would be to do some ink smooshing and ink blending which is exactly what I did. This is a mini-slimline card, by the way, and I began by trimming some white cardstock, then stamped my sentiment with hybrid black ink and leaves from the Vintage Holly stamp set using Leather hybrid ink. 

Next, I ink smooshed on all sides using Ranger Distress Oxide ink in Vintage Photo, heat set it, then proceeded to ink blend around all sides with Ranger Distress Ink in Ground Espresso. It's very dark and just what I was going for.

Lastly,  I adhered some gold half pearls and gold sequins from my stash and dotted on some gold glitter glue for more sparkle. 

My card panel is popped up on adhesive foam with a trimmed piece of black cardstock adhered to my mini-slimline card.
