World Cardmaking Day Winter Card

It's World Cardmaking Day and I have another card to share. This card has a story behind it and I'll share that with you a little further down. You'll also find product links for most of the items I used in the creative process at the end of this post plus a coupon code from Erin Lee Creative!

A few months ago, a dear friend passed away and it saddened me so much, I needed an outlet. I turned to ink and paper and spent some time in my craft room pouring out my heart.

Although I wasn't sure which direction I was going, I grabbed a few inks and began ink blending on my cardstock.

I decided to create a peaceful scene, so I went for an older background stamp that I hadn't used much. It's called Soft Whisper from Penny Black. Currently, it can be found on Amazon or directly on the Penny Black Inc. website.

What you see below, is where I stopped and left it. I'm glad I left a little white space because it created such a great light effect that I wasn't expecting or even planning for.

Several months later, there was a publication call and I decided to do something with this card panel and winterize it, to fit the theme of the publication I was submitting for. I painted "snow" on my tree and branches and splattered lots of snow about.

In keeping with my peaceful scene, I wanted to use a meaningful scripture sentiment. Luckily, I had recently purchased a set from Erin Lee Creative called, Written In The Stars and I settled on one of the sentiments in the set which, honestly, was absolutely perfect for my peaceful scene. I heat embossed it on black cardstock, then fussy cut it.

You can actually purchase Written in the Stars (or anything else on the Erin Lee Creative site) right now and get 20% off with coupon code WCMD2023 today only!!

Even though this card wasn't accepted for publication, it's ok. It's my heart on paper and remembrance of a friend and that is worth more to me than any accolades this world can give.

Terri
