The Hop to Stop domestic violence

Today I'm sharing a card created for bringing awareness to domestic violence.  Many have a story to tell and the need to heal old wounds and move forward in life.  As a child, I was a witness to domestic violence.  My birth father used to beat my mother, even going so far as to break her nose while driving in the car.  Years later, after divorce and 3 marriages, my father finally stopped drinking and got his life in order.  The memories never fade though, do they?  Those childhood memories molded me into the person that I choose to be today; the mother I choose to be; the strong woman that I choose to be.

I eencourage you to link up and if you'd like send your card to the designated women's shelter that organizer Becca Dawn has arranged with.

You can link up here:

The color theme is purple for this hop.  I've colored up an image from the Adornit Art Play paintables.  Yes, I went a little over the top.  I'm hoping some little girl will receive this and be over the moon with all the sparkle and glitter.  Children of domestic violence need a little happy in their lives.  May Arts Ribbon is also a sponsor of this event and i
I'm happy to be featuring their ribbons on this project as well.

Even if you don't participate, it would be lovely if you would share and spread the news.  Thank you!

  2. Dear Terri, I experienced the same childhood trauma that you did, seeing my Mom almost killed by my birth father. We were terrorized. It definitely changes you as a person. My Mom escaped with my brother and me when I was three and even at such a young age, I remember too much about that time. I am glad your birth father quit drinking and got his life together. Mine did not - he is still a raging alcoholic and drug addict. We have no contact with him. Thank you for having the courage to tell your story - it is not easy to relive these painful memories. I appreciate you joining the hop with your adorable purple card - super sweet image and sentiment, and I love the sparkle.
