Christmas In July Mixed Media Card

I love the size of this stamp.  It's 2.5"x 1.5" and stamps like a dream.  Please note, my stamping was done on watercolor paper and ink does tend to bleed a tiny bit, despite multiple inkings.  You'll find that it won't be a problem on regular cardstock.  Regardless, I love how it turned out!

To create my mixed media panel, I first did some ink smooshing on Strathmore watercolor paper, using Simon Hurley's Later Gator green ink.  Just press the ink on a craft mat, spritz with a bit of water and "smoosh" your watercolor paper into the mix.  I basically inked all four corners of my panel, leaving space in the middle for my sentiment. 

Next, I splattered white gesso all over my panel, using a damp toothbrush dipped in the mix.  You can also use white paint.  Just spray the toothbrush with your thumb.  It get's messy, so do this in a large box to protect your space.  I grabbed a paint brush and started painting circles all over in white, then mixed another shade of Simon Hurley ink into my white gesso and painted over the white circles.  Some glitter glue, sequins and a handmade jingle bell ribbon complete my embellishing.

Oh, I also used a Simon Hurley stencil to create the backdrop to my panel, using Stickles glitter glue and heating with craft heat tool.  It adds just the right amount of sparkle!
