Flirty Blooms Doodling for Catherine Pooler

Hello friends, I'm back with another project for Catherine Pooler Designs. I have absolutely fallen in love with the Flirty Blooms stencil set, which is prominently featured for today's card. I was going for a doodle effect and I love how it turned out. Scroll down for creative details and more product info from the Petals and Purrs collection!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

To begin, I stenciled the floral image from the Flirty Blooms stencil set using Tiara and Sweetheart inks.
I alternated my colors for each bloom, using one color on the upper half of each flower, and the other color on the lower half. What can I say, I was in the mood to be "flirty"!

To create the doodle effect, I simply used a fine liner black pen to outline each bloom. It's not about perfection here, it's about quirkiness. Leaving small gaps where white is visible on the petals was intentional. My artist friend Lindsay Ostrom once told me, "leave a little white space"and she was right. It also lends to the quirky feel that I was going for.

Initially, I was going to produce a one layer card, however, one thing led to another and before I knew it, I was looking for my adhesive foam circles. March is National Craft Month and I've really been leaning into it. I grabbed my CPD/Wow glitter in cotton candy and sprinkled it on top of my circles, pressing the mix in with my finger and tapping off the excess.

I also added lots of yummy splatters with my Glitz Shimmer and applied some of the new

For my sentiments, I used one of the papers from the Totally Bloomin' paper pack, to die cut with one of the Scripted Sentiments Trio Word dies. Then I heat embossed the other sentiment from the 3 Times The Thanks Sentiments stamp set on CPD Midnight cardstock with white embossing powder, and die cutting it with the new More Sentiment Banner Dies. I love these dies and will be using them A LOT!!

I also layered some light pink and yellow cardstock beneath my card panel, from the Party Mix Cardstock Assortment. Check out all the new cardstocks here. They've just been re-stocked!

Lastly, I created some cute little embellishments adhered on all four sides of my card, using yet another patterned paper from the Totally Bloomin' paper pack. That about wraps it up. I totally got lost in doing all the things on this card and it was such fun, which is what cardmaking should be all about, wouldn't you agree? Thanks so much for stopping by. Pumpkin Pie Sideways Card feat Catherine Pooler Designs

Hello friends and Happy Thanksgiving! I took a little time out of my holiday meal prep to create this card that features Catherine Pooler products. I love, love, love pumpkin pie which is what inspired me to sit down and make this card. This is also the second card in my Sideways card series, which focuses on offset or off to the side focal points. It can be decorative edging, stamping, whatever floats your boat! Scroll down for details! Tap any of the highlighted text throughout this post for additional product information.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I'm using two different stamps from Catherine Pooler, Fall Calls for Lattes (sentiment) and Flavors of Fall (pumpkin pie). For my sentiment, I opted to trim a portion of a larger stamp quote to get the words 'harvest wishes". I do this on occasion and I can always use a stamp positioner to put my quote back together and stamp the entire wording, for future use.

To stamp my pumpkin pies, I used Amber ink for the crust and Orange Twist for the pie filling. I then went in with a waterbrush to color in some Mandarin Spice for the pie, to give a little depth, and touched up my crust with a bit of Cargo ink, which I also used for my sentiment.

To add a little separation between my pies and wording, I adhered a thin strip of plaid paper from the Right At Home paper pack, and a dark green houndstooth paper as the backing for my card panel, procured from the Bushel And A Peck paper pack.

This was a fairly quick card to make and such an enjoyable process. I'm looking forward to diving into some pumpkin pie tomorrow! Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you enjoy the holidays! If you missed the first card in my Sideways Series, check it out here.

Bestie Girl Foiled Card for Spellbinders

Hello friends, time is drawing to a close if you'd like to join any of the Spellbinders Clubs this month and receive the current selections. Today's card features the Stamp/Die of the Month selection and the Glimmer Hot Foil Club Kit. Scroll down for details!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

This Stamp and Die Club Kit is called, Go-To-Girl and it's the cutest set ever! I had so much fun coloring up the image that's featured above. Plus, there are numerous sentiments which is always a plus when  making a purchase.

The Glimmer Hot Foil Club Kit is called, "Luxe Loops" and it's such a cool, trendy design. I opted to do some tone on tone foiling with some dark pink cardstock using my Glimmer Hot Foil System and the foil included with this months kit, Bright Pink. Keep in mind, selection on the foils you receive does vary.

I also sealed my foiling, using my Platinum 6 die cut machine. This, and the Glimmer machine, go hand in hand when foiling. You simply remove your platform, then run it through the Platinum 6 to seal it.

All of my coloring was done with OLO Markers. Here are the colors that I used:

OR2.5, O2.4, RV0.2, YO2.3, OR1.4, OR4.4, RV0.4, YG8.5, OR3.4, RV0.1

Spellbinders sells OLO Marker sets on their site, however, if you're looking for specific individual markers, you can find them on the OLO Marker site here.

Also, if you look closely at my die cut girl above, you'll see she was adhered to a second die cut outline with my green cardstock. This was offset just a bit and helps to not only tie in all the green colors together, but let her stand out a bit amongst all the pink.

Thanks so much for popping in today. Remember, if you wish to try out any of the Club Memberships, you are under no obligations. You can cancel at any time. Some crafters find a particular month may not be their style and opt to skip a month by canceling, then re-joining.

Get all the details on all the club memberships, here.

See you next time, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Journey to Bethlehem Card for Erin Lee Creative

Hello my crafty friends! I'm back with another card featuring the new holiday release from Erin Lee Creative! There are 4 different ELC products that I'm creating with today and I've got a bunch of technique photos to share. Scroll down for the details, plus my clickable shopping/supply list at the end of this post.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

Below, are all the products in the new holiday release. I'm featuring the Love Came Down stamp set, the Starry Night stencil, Nativity Add-On die set and Nativity Scene Cover Plate.

To begin, I die cut my Nativity Scene Cover Plate on white cardstock and also on a light tan paper from one of my paper pads called, Daybreak. I also did a partial die cut on silver holographic paper to procure that star at the top of my card.

Because I wanted to color my windows and keep them inlaid, I added tape to the back of my white die cut, then insert all the negative pieces for the windows and doors.

Some of my coloring was outside the lines, but that's ok because I trimmed out the "buildings" from the tan paper, to pop up with adhesive foam over my white buildings. It will hide any errors.

I also added a little definition to my buildings by using my score tool and score board, as pictured below.
I made 4 score lines just to add a little something extra. I can definitely be a little extra from time to time, haha!

All of my coloring was done with OLO Markers and here's the breakdown:

Palm Trees - YG8.7, YG8.5, OR3.4, OR3.7
Windows: YO2.3, OR1.6, OR1.3
Joseph/Mary/Donkey: B4.3, OR3.4, CG1, OR1.0
Doors: OR3.4, OR3.7

OLO Marker is currently having a 20% off sale, so if you'd like to start a collection, or add to an existing one, tap my link above to get started!

Now, for my night sky, I swiped some Catherine Pooler Designs ink in Glacier across my cardstock. I heat set the ink and then stenciled my sky with the Starry Night Sky stencil and white modeling paste.

After making sure my stenciling was dry, I masked off an area with low tack mint tape to create light beaming down from the star.

I simply dipped a cotton ball into white pigment ink, then blotted in the color, removing the tape when finished.

Even though I heat set my ink, I still had some bleed thru of blue color onto my white stenciled stars, so I touched up my stars using a white gel pen.

Now, you don't necessarily have to color the Joseph, Mary, Donkey images, but I chose to do so. I imagined where to emphasize the head piece for Joseph, where to place a "burlap sack" over the donkey's back and how to color Mary's garment.

You might want to cut out several die cuts and experiment with placement and color for those images. You can also just use the die cuts as silhouette images.

Lastly, I added more white gel pen highlights to my building and trees. I also stamped my sentiment directly onto the bottom of my card, using CPD Cargo ink.

Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section. Thanks so much for stopping by. Tap any of my affiliate links below for product details or to shop!

Nativity Card for Erin Lee Creative

Hey friends, Erin Lee Creative has just come out with a new holiday release and I am loving it! It's all about the reason for the season, the birth of our Savior! I'm creating with 3 different products from this collection, so scroll down for all the details. Also, shoutout to Erin for sending me the products that I'm creating with today! I'll have my supply list linked at the end of this post as well.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

Below is a photo of all the products in the new holiday release. I'll be creating with the Oval Nativity Die, Starry Night Stencil and Love Came Down Stamp Set today.

I'm also featuring several techniques: ink blending, heat embossing, stamping, die cutting and paper piecing.

First, I pulled out an A2 size piece of 80 lb white cardstock and did some ink blending with my Catherine Pooler Inks in Orange Twist, Do Si Doh and Lemon Sorbet.

I'm only going to use half of my ink blended cardstock for today's card, trimming horizontally right in the middle. I'll save the other half to make a duplicate card later. The ink blending will be the backing to my die cut scene.

Next, I made 4 die cuts using different cardstocks, with the Oval Nativity die and my Platinum 6 die cut machine. I cut one complete die cut with black cardstock, then 3 partial die cuts with white, tan and gold holographic cardstock.

For the white die cut, I only wanted to hand trim the star at the top and adhere it to the star on my black die cut. For the gold holographic cardstock, I had some scraps and made a partial die cut only to retrieve that tiny gold center for the white star. Not pictured is the tan cardstock. I only wanted the sloped line in the middle to represent a natural color of dirt or sand, an earthy neutral color to break up my black silhouette. This is definitely an optional thing. I liked how it looked, so I kept it.

Before adhering my white star. to the black, I did some ink blending with the Lemon Sorbet ink around the edges, glued my gold star center on top, then glued the entire piece to my black star.

I also used the Starry Night stencil on top of my ink blending. I simply trimmed a large half oval shape from the inked cardstock. To achieve this, I placed my black nativity die cut on top, then simply hand trimmed just under the upper half outline of my die cut. It's not perfectly trimmed but it really doesn't matter, as long as the black die cut covers the edges.

When I finished hand trimming my inked trimming, I kept in in place with tape on the back of the entire inked card panel to do some stenciling. I just thought it would be easier to gauge where I wanted to stencil, using my black die cut as a guideline. I taped off the area where the windows are, then taped my stencil to my craft mat and used my Cloud Whip, a modeling paste from Scrapbookcom. It's currently not available in the shop, but I've linked a similar modeling paste in my supply list.

The reason I wanted to use the modeling paste is for dimension for my stars. You could also stencil with white paint, you just won't get the same dimension. And yes, that's a used gift card I'm using to stencil with. Hey, use what you have. I didn't want to go digging for my craft scraper and I always keep old gift cards handy.

IMPORTANT TIP: Make sure you prime any tape you use when placing over cardstock, if it's not a low tack tape. Just place your tape across your arm and it will pick up the oils from your skin.

You do not want to risk tearing your beautifully inked cardstock with paper tears from the tape.

Finally, I added some white highlights with a gel pen to the top of my trees and building, as if the moon were shining. No, there's no moon, haha. Just humor me, people.

I also heat embossed my sentiment from the Love Came Down stamp set, stamping with clear emboss ink and my Misti stamp positioner, sprinkling on some Ranger Gold Tinsel embossing powder, tapping off the excess, then heating it with my craft heat tool

I recommend you prime your cardstock with an anti-static pouch or tool before heat embossing. This helps to minimize excess powder that scatters about and can make your embossing look messy.

If you lasted through my entire crafty monologue, you're a better person than I am, haha. I sometimes get a little caught up in explaining things and get a little wordy. Not always, but sometimes. I have to remind myself that some of you might be looking into cardmaking for the first time, so this might be information you've not been exposed to before. As always, if you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment!

Check out all the crafty goodness at Erin Lee Creative. I believe she is still having a $1 embossing folder sale as well! There was a coupon code available for 10% off the new release last week, but I'm not sure if it's still active. Give it a try though and find out, using coupon code NEW at checkout. Have a great day!

Terri
