Coffee Loving Papercrafts Fall/Winter Blog Hop

It's that time of year! The Coffee Loving Papercrafters Fall/Winter Blog Hop went live yesterday. These are my people and I couldn't wait to play along. You can too! I'll have details further down, along with my clickable supply list. My hot cocoa card features products from super sponsor Pretty Pink Posh. I've been eyeballing the Winter Mug die set for awhile and finally added it to my collection, along with the Christmas Sentiment Strips stamp set. Scroll down for more.

What I really love about the PPP Winter Mug die set is it comes with such a great variety of dies that you can also use for Fall cardmaking and Halloween. You can also purchase the add-on sets that were created to coordinate with the Winter Mug dies. There's one called Holidays, Halloween and Winter.

To create my mug, I selected a pretty beige patterned paper with snow, from my Scrapbookcom Snow Days paper pad. For the marshmallows in my cocoa, I ink blended with some Catherine Pooler Do-Si-Do ink around the edges. I mean, who doesn't love Peppermint marshmallows? They're so yummy!

If you look closely, you can see that wavy pattern for my tabletop is the same paper that I used for my cocoa and ties things together nicely. That is also from my Snow Days paper pad.

My other elements, the candy cane and holly die cuts, incorporate papers from my stash. For my snowflake, I ran some adhesive over white cardstock, laid down my Spellbinders Prism foil, then die cut with my snowflake die.

My sentiment is also from Pretty Pink Posh and is from the Sentiment Strips stamp set, Christmas. This was heat embossed with Wow white embossing powder on red cardstock.

Lastly, my ornamental background paper is from another Scrapbookcom patterned paper pad called Holiday.

This card came together so quickly, I could make a ton of these! Most of my die cut elements are popped up on adhesive foam for dimension. If you'd like to shop for any of the products that I used today, I have affiliate links below. There is no added cost for you to use these links and I appreciate it so much!

Join the hop here with your newly created project. Be sure and take a look at the rules. You have until Nov. 8th to link up. Have fun!

I'm also linking up to the Caffeinated Christmas Card challenge. You can get details to link up to this challenge here, sponsored this month by Pink & Main!

Create A Scene Card and Coffee Loving Cardmakers Hop

It's time for the Fall/Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop! Rarely do I miss the opportunity to participate in this fun event and I hope you'll join in. I'm happy to be a Brew Crew member (former designer) and joining in the celebrations of one of my favorite groups of cardmakers on the World Wide Web! My "create a scene" card features a mix of techniques; stamping, masking, ink blending and stenciling, using some of my favorite brand products, including the Christmas Gnomes stamp set from Scrapbook.com. He is absolutely darling, holding that adorable cup of cocoa!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

First, here's a few details for the hop, if you'd like to participate. Make sure you click the link at the top for more detailed information. Your project must be a card, must be newly created for this hop and anything goes for the theme. It must include coffee, tea, cocoa or even cider!

So, how did I make this scene? First I trimmed a card panel for a mini-slimline card. The measurements are approximately 6 x 3.25 inches.

I have a Ranger Ink rectangle stencil that I absolutely love. I wanted a slimmer, more narrow vertical space to work with for the scene I had in mind, so I placed masking tape down the right of my stencil to narrow the gap.

In the first picture, I used my Misti stamp positioner and stamped my gnome near the lower right corner onto my mint tape (masking tape) . I peeled off the stamped tape and trimmed off the hat (don't toss the hat!).

Here's where it gets a little tricky, stamping a 2nd time on the cardstock. It would be easier to simply do some paper piecing for the hat but I wanted to have pretty much a one layer card (with the exception of paint splatters).

And because I wanted my hat to have red inky stripes, I had to carefully stamp as much of the gnome body with black ink, (so I could color with markers later) cover the body with the stamped mint tape to create a masked area, then stamp my hat with the red ink. Once this was done, I put both of my pre-stamped sections back on top of my stamped card panel for the next step.

Next, I grabbed my mint tape again and hand trimmed a little sloped hill. This was place directly across the bottom of my card panel and above my gnomes shoes. Keep in mind, I still have my stamped masking tape over my gnome as well.

I grabbed a tree stencil that I've had in my stash for so long, I can't remember what brand it is. I offset my tree stencil from the left side and ink blended with my Scrapbook.com Pine hybrid ink and blender brushes.

In my last photo, I used a circle punch on my mint tape for a moon. I placed it so it's offset on the upper right corner and ink blended over the open area of my card panel using Ranger Distress Ink - Prize Ribbon.

I also used some white pigment ink and blended around my moon for a "glow.

I peeled off  the mint tape from the moon and the gnome, coloring my gnome with Copic Markers.

I splatted on some "snow" with my Ranger white acrylic paint by using the opposite end of a small paint brush, dipping in paint, then dotting all over my tree and sky.

Once my scene was complete, I traced around the inside of my masked rectangle with a black fine liner pen. I also traced around my hat to give it more of a "stamped" look, then stamped my sentiment.

God bless you, if you read through all of that! I know it was a little more lengthy than my usual posts. Sometimes I'm compelled to lay every little thing down in writing.

Initially, I was going for a clean and simple look. I even polled some of my crafty friends to see if they thought this qualified for a CAS card. It was a resounding NO by about 70%, mainly because my techniques weren't so simple, in their opinion.

I hope you love my Create-A-Scene card as much as I do! I had a blast experimenting and it came out exactly as I had imagined. It's always a win when that happens, right?

Be sure and link a card up to the hop, here. You have until November 10th to get crafty. There are some amazing sponsors and prizes being offered up, as well. For more details on the products I used or to shop, click my affiliate links below.
