Spellbinders Winter Tales Holiday Release

My second project today for Spellbinders features the Folk Song bird from the Winter Tales collection, designed by Zsoka Marko. If you missed my vintage style box and bowls project, go here.

Growing up in upstate New York, I loved visiting the Pennsylvania Dutch area. I've always been a huge fan of folk art and Pennsylvania dutch style inspired art, and this bird definitely reminded me of those styles!

To begin, I die cut my bird using a light gray cardstock from my stash and backed my cuts underneath with white cardstock, popping up the wing with adhesive foam. I wanted to give my bird a beautiful backdrop on which to rest, so my next focus was the card panel. 

The elements for my panel include the Stitched Fanfare background die, cut on white cardstock, stitched with DMC embroidery floss #3364, which was then adhered to an A2 sized green cardstock panel and mounted on an A2 white card.

Included in the Folk Song die set is a leafy stem that I paired with another leafy stem found in the Blooming Tree hot foil plate and die set released back in the summer. These were cut with green cardstock and enhanced with a white gel pen.

The stems were adhered to my diamond die cuts made from the Essential Diamonds etched die set. One was cut with green cardstock, the other with Spellbinders Glimmer Specialty cardstock, then foiled using Aura hot foil with my Essential Solid Diamond Hot Foil Plate and Glimmer Hot Foil System.

 My bird was crowned with one of the die elements from the Folk Song set, using gold glitter foam sheets. Lastly, my sentiment from the Holiday Florals Hot Foil set was created using green cardstock and Aura hot foil.
