Making Stickers With Cricut and Xyron

(FTC disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links so, if you purchase a product using the link I may receive a small commission. I only participate in affiliate programs that feature products that I use and love. Your purchase price is not affected in any way, by using my links.)

My Xyron Creative Station and my Cricut Explore have been getting quite the workout lately.  I've been a devoted user of both products for many, many years.  As a craft blogger, I'm always looking for ways to incorporate these tools into projects for daily life.

Many of us have kids involved in sports, band, dance.... the list is endless.  I can tell you this; kids love their name on stuff.  T-shirts, cups and even book covers for school.  I made these big 4" stickers for that very purpose - Emmah's notebooks for school.  She loves them!  I'm sorry to say, I can't claim Emmah as my own, because she's a real sweetheart, but my friend informed me that  Emmah went all nutso over these stickers.

Emmah is a star pitcher for a very well known and successful traveling softball team.  Of course, her friends are going to want some too.  Who are they going to call?  Hopefully, me!

If you're a crafter who sells their wares, this is another fun item to make and promote.
So how did this come together?  I created and welded my design in the Cricut Design Space™ which is exclusive to the Cricut Explore, and chose the print and cut option.  I LOVE this feature!  You can design something, print it and then cut the image with your Explore.  When it prints, there are line markers when the Cricut then scans and perfectly cuts.  It's fabulous.  Truly.

To finish off my project, I ran all my die cuts through my Xyron 9" Creative Station.   It quickly and completely covers the back of your die cut with adhesive.  It also has laminating capabilities and so much more.   The final touch is a little bit of glitter glue on the wording.  Because, glitter makes the world a happy place......

These fun stickers are perfect for your sports fan.  Stick them on a thermos, lunch box, inside a locker, on school notebooks.  Get creative and make one for every member of the team!

Week 2 - DoubleClick Skittles Bug Challenge

Welcome to Week 2 of the DoubleClick Skittles Challenge!

Challenge #29 - Use a Bug

Aug. 19 - Sept. 1

For this week's challenge, I chose to feature my Skittles on one of Adornit's Art Play Paintable images and make a fun gift tag.  I'm thinking about using it on something homemade from my kitchen.  Yum!

This image is from the Ladybug collection and I colored it up with my Zig Clean Color markers.
I trimmed the top from a gold tag that I had, and adhered it to the backside of my colored image.

There are so many ways you can use the Skittle Bubble embellishments.  Here, they're popping out on a couple corners and also on the center of one of my flowers.

Skittles come in a multitude of fabulous colors and are handmade in batches in Carri's "lab".  There are 25 of these fun, bubble embellishments per bag and you can purchase most 3 pack sets for under $4.00 or individually.  Plus shipping is FREE in the USA and PAYPAL is accepted.

You can purchase Skittles here:

The newest release, "Believe in Magic" is still available.  Perfect for all your Disney themed projects (Mickey, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.)

Click on the Skittles image to purchase "Believe in Magic".

Lastly, here's a couple close-ups of my Skittles.  I added a touch of glitter glue to the bottom of my Sunset Orange Skittle.  Looks like a juicy orange!

And here's my Citrus Skittle up top, with a red Skittle, from the Believe in Magic set, on my flower.

Come join us in our Bug challenge.  There's always a fun prize up for grabs and plenty of inspiration.

Link up here and be sure to read the rules for the challenge as backlinking is not allowed.

Thanks for stopping by!

Giant Halloween Bookmark

(FTC disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links so, if you purchase a product using the link I may receive a small commission. I only participate in affiliate programs that feature products that I use and love. Your purchase price is not affected in any way, by using my links.)

Have you wandered the aisles of your local craft store lately.  Seasonal items abound.   Fall and Christmas items are already in many stores and in some cases, have been for at least a month or two.

I've been wanting to pair a Harry Potter die cut image, with the Rare Oddities collection from Graphic 45, so I finally sat down and came up with this Giant Bookmark.  Perfect for the Potter fan and back to school fun.

To begin, I cut two of the Rare Oddity pages that featured library books and cut them down to 3"x 8" with my We R Memory Keepers scorer/trimmer.  These are the perfect pages for a book lover!

from: Scrapbook.com

I ran all my elements through my Xyron 9" Creative Station to turn everything into stickers.  It's such an easy process to add sticky adhesive backing with this tool.  A few turns of the handle, a little rubbing with a bone folder or even something like a credit card, and you are finished.  Just peel off the backing.
from: Scrapbook.com

Next, I stuck my too library pages together so they are the same design front and back, then added my toppers, lining them up and sticking them together as well.

This Harry Potter-ish die cut image was perfectly pieced and placed and was cut with my Cricut Explore using the Too Cute By Jessica svg file, Worldly Wizards.

I fussy cut the owl image with shelving and placed it to the left of my wizard.  I ran my wizard and owl images through my smaller 2.5" Xyron Sticker Maker which is perfect for smaller jobs.

Now check out this topper.  I used the Rare Oddities quote from the Tags and Cardstock set.  There was only one, so I traced the outline on a piece of coordinating paper, to use on the backside.

Everything is finished off with these brand new super cool ribbons from the Ribbon Resource online store.

Get 10% Off Your Next Order at The Ribbon Resource

These ribbons are not yet available at the Ribbon Resource, but they soon will be so check back!  The fuzzy wired pom poms and mini wired pom poms are just too fun!  And, I'm addicted to their 2 mm baker's twine

To make sure my twine bow doesn't come unraveled, I dropped a little hot glue in the middle and added a black bubble embellishment from DoubleClick Skittles.

As an avid crafter, my day wouldn't be complete if I didn't link up my crafty project to some fun challenges, starting with this one:

New Challenge at DoubleClick Skittles! Use a Bug

Challenge #29 - Use a Bug

Aug. 19 - Sept. 1

So who hasn't doodled?  I used to doodle all the time when I was a kid.  Doodling turned to sketching, sketching turned to art classes.... which leads me to today's project.  I thought I would make my own Zentangle and color it.

I started by drawing a butterfly and adding sections to fill.  It's not very symmetrical, but I'm ok with it.  I'm just going with the flow.

My completed version is pictured above and ready to color.  Obviously, I'm not a professional!  But, it was fun to do.

Below, is a close-up of the butterfly.  I chose to embellish my butterfly using Purple Twilight, Sunshine Yellow and Sailboat Blue Skittles.  They blend perfectly with my colored butterfly.

You can purchase Skittles here:

As always, Skittles come in a multitude of fabulous colors and are handmade in batches in Carri's "lab".  There are 25 of these fun, bubble embellishments per bag and you can purchase most sets for under $4.00 or individually.  Plus shipping is FREE in the USA and PAYPAL is accepted.

You HAVE To Have One Of These! Scrap-MaBob!

(affiliate links below with disclosure)  Oh my gosh, when I saw that this was on sale, I had to run to my blog and write this up to share it with you!  Do you have one of these Scrap-MaBobs?

The first crop that I went to a few years ago, is where I spotted it for the first time.  Ladies had these cool cup holder gizmos clipped to their tables with a built in trash bag.  Well of course, I had to have one too.  Do you know how much I paid for mine?  Double this price.  But, it was money well spent.

Scrap-MaBob - Drink Holder and Trash Bag - $9.99

Retail Price: $15.00
You Save: $5.01
from: Scrapbook.com

I still take my Scrap-MaBob with me to crops.  You may not know this, but I dragged my mother into my scrappy world, as well.  She loves to do layouts and make the occasional card.  When she saw my Scrap-MaBob?  That's all she talked about.  She wanted one too.  Guess what she got for Mother's Day that year?  Haha.  She loves hers too.

The best part is, you don't have to worry about tipping your cup over and ruining your project, or developing water rings on the table which also...... ruin your projects!

So feel free to thank me later, after you've used yours for the first time.  Already have one?  Then snatch one up for a crafty gift or giveaway!  The thing I love about Scrapbook.com is that shipping is super affordable.  Depending on the size and weight of your purchase, shipping starts at $2.95.

Seriously?  That's unheard of!  But, true.  There's a special going on right now too, on clearance items.  Buy 4 clearance items, get the 5th free.  And, if you really want to stock up on supplies, spend $60 and get free shipping with coupon code NEW6474 but hurry, that code is only good for 3 more days!  Happy shopping!  Terri from Waving My Wand

Join the DoubleClick Skittles Food Challenge!

There's one week left in the current DoubleClick Skittles Food Challenge.  There's always a fun prize up for grabs, so why not play?  Skittles are not required to enter.  Just link up your food themed creation but be sure and check out the challenge rules; backlinking is not allowed.

I truly believe that cake should be a food group unto itself.  I love cake in any shape, flavor....basically, I have a major sweet tooth.  I'm knocking out two birds with one stone here; I need a birthday card and a food card.  Voile!

I chose to use the Strawberry Skittles on my cake.  The cake is a Miss Kate Cuttables svg and it had some larger decorative circles which made for perfect placement of my Skittles.  The card shape itself?  I used my Cricut Explore to cut the layered card shapes with a scallop frame in the Stretch Your Imagination cartridge.

Aren't they yummy?  You can purchase most sets as a 3 pk for $4 or less or buy individual bags.  Each bag has 25 Skittles.  There's so many colors to choose from!  A rainbow of colors, just like the candy.... And as always, Carri offers free USA shipping and PAYPAL is accepted.  Now, that's a deal!  She even offers a free bonus bag on some purchases.  I've been asked by some of my followers, how to apply the Skittles.  I use Tombow Mono Aqua Glue to really make sure it stays put but mini or small adhesive dots work well too.  Experiment by adding a touch of glitter glue to the bottom of your Skittle.  That adds even more wow factor.  Be sure it's dry though, before adding your adhesive dot.  I usually go ahead and add my clear glue right away with no problems, though.

Scroll down if you'd like to see the supplies I used.  Did you catch the new release of the "Believe in Magic" Skittles?  They coordinate perfectly with Disney projects and are still available.  Get them before they sell out though.  Don't come cryin' to me later.... 'cause you missed out!  #grin

Be sure and link up to the challenge by 8/18/15.

Thanks for popping in to see my project!  I'd love if you'd click on the Friend Connect button on my upper right sidebar and become a follower. (P.S. I'm having a big blogiversary event this month!)

Stenciled Sympathy Card

(affiliate links below) I recently came into possession of this fabulous Tim Holtz Wildflower stencil and Idea-ology word stickers.  Sadly, a friend has a loved one who recently passed away, and I felt this would be appropriate to use for a sympathy card.  Certainly, there are a wide range of uses for this lovely stencil, however, in taking it for my first spin, I plan on keeping it simple, due to the circumstances.

from: Simon Says Stamp

I chose to do some generational stamping in chalk ink, first fully covering my stenciled image, then moving my stencil and sponging with the leftover ink on my sponge, to give the shadow effect.

from: Simon Says Stamp

The paint splatters were created using my Tim Holtz Picket Fence dabber.  Simply blot some ink/paint onto an acrylic block or craft mat, dip a wet toothbrush into the paint, then run your thumb across the toothbrush bristles, aiming where desired.  It gives so much character to your projects.  I absolutely adore this technique.

from: Simon Says Stamp

Next, I used the Tim Holtz Big Chat word stickers to convey words of sympathy.  Simplistic and beautiful.

To finish off my project, I added a strip of Bazzill vellum with May Arts Ribbon natural burlap string and a large We R Memory Keepers Enamel Dot.

Give these fun techniques a try!  Feel free to shop at my affiliate links for your convenience.

Additional supplies:
Quick Quotes Powder Puff white chalk ink
The Paper Studio 5x7 kraft card

Week 2 of My Blogiversary, Prizes & a Winner

(affiliate links below) Here we are on week two of my Blogiversary celebration!  My goal last week was to increase my Instagram following to 1000.  Alas, I was a bit exuberant that it could be done... but we are not there yet.  Does that mean I'm not going to add a weekly prize to the Grand prize package, which includes the We R Memory Keepers Fuse?  Heck, no!

Keep sharing and following my Instagram page and hopefully by the end of the month, my goal will have been reached.  In the meantime.....

This week, I'm adding another one of my favorite things to the grand prize package.

Tombow Dual Brush pens from the Bright Collection

I love these dual markers so much, and the Bright colors are my absolute favorites.  One of my favorite things to do is watercolor with these and it's so easy.  Swipe your marker on an acrylic block, spritz with water or dip your wet paintbrush, and start coloring!  So fun!

Now, for the winner of my weekly prize...... I had 175 qualified entries between those who participated on Instagram, and I also opened it up on my FB event page (for those who were not on IG).  I used my handy dandy app on my phone, randomizer.org and it selected #112.

I numbered all the entries and #112 was one of the Instagram entries so

Congratulations to:

@doubleclickconnect

How fun that I know Carri!  Of course, I know a lot of you so don't be disheartened just yet.  There are more opportunities in the days ahead to win.  Carri, please send me your mailing address to momtojeb@gmail (dot)com

Carrie will receive this prize that consists of  Plaid/FolkArt paper stencils that I snagged at The Paper Source store, Wood heart veneers that I snagged at Michael's, and a sample of orange/striped trim from my personal stash of May Arts Ribbon, perfect for Fall/Autumn projects!

Be sure you visit my event page on Facebook to keep up with the happenings, and be following me on Facebook as that is this week's Social Media focus, and where you need to be to enter for the next weekly prize!

If you just can't wait, you can purchase the Fuse at scrapbook.com, as well as some of the other products mentioned here today.  Please see my disclosure statement below.
