New Release! Witches Brew at DoubleClick Skittles

DoubleClick Skittles is announcing a brand new release today called, "Witches Brew".  We're all just a little excited with these fun new colors called, Pumpkin, Witch and Frog Legs (they made a comeback!).  

To celebrate the new release, I've made a Spooky Fun Luminary that features the new Witches Brew Skittles, as well as the Black Skittles.  

The owl image is from Miss Kate Cuttables and I've added black skittles for the eyes.  Look at the skittles across the bottom.  Aren't they gorgeous?!  I placed a strip of  May Arts glittered ribbon around the bottom then glued them with clear glue.

To create my luminary, I heat embossed a tree stamp from Unity Stamps, then used the watercolor smooshing technique with my vellum paper.   I swiped my Tombow Dual brush pens on an acrylic block (one color at a time) and spritzed with water, then placed my vellum randomly over the wet color.  Allow to sit a minute or so, then blot excess color with a paper towel.  Repeat until you have all the desired colors on your paper.

The vellum has a tendency to ripple when wet, so when it dried, I rolled it around a bottle and let sit awhile to reshape itself, then adhered the back edge with a strip of Scor-Tape.

Here's my luminary all lit up with a candle inside.  Isn't it spooky fun and pretty?  I really do love it.  The Witches Brew Skittles are the PERFECT color for this.  You'll find these colors will coordinate with many of your Halloween and Fall projects.

Giant Halloween Bookmark

Have you wandered the aisles of your local craft store lately.  Seasonal items abound.   Fall and Christmas items are already in many stores and in some cases, have been for at least a month or two.

I've been wanting to pair a Harry Potter die cut image, with the Rare Oddities collection from Graphic 45, so I finally sat down and came up with this Giant Bookmark.  Perfect for the Potter fan and back to school fun.

To begin, I cut two of the Rare Oddity pages that featured library books and cut them down to 3"x 8" with my We R Memory Keepers scorer/trimmer.  These are the perfect pages for a book lover!

I ran all my elements through my Xyron 9" Creative Station to turn everything into stickers.  It's such an easy process to add sticky adhesive backing with this tool.  A few turns of the handle, a little rubbing with a bone folder or even something like a credit card, and you are finished.  Just peel off the backing.

Next, I stuck my too library pages together so they are the same design front and back, then added my toppers, lining them up and sticking them together as well.

This Harry Potter-ish die cut image was perfectly pieced and placed and was cut with my Cricut Explore using the Too Cute By Jessica svg file, Worldly Wizards.

I fussy cut the owl image with shelving and placed it to the left of my wizard.  I ran my wizard and owl images through my smaller 2.5" Xyron Sticker Maker which is perfect for smaller jobs.

Now check out this topper.  I used the Rare Oddities quote from the Tags and Cardstock set.  There was only one, so I traced the outline on a piece of coordinating paper, to use on the backside.

Everything is finished off with these brand new super cool ribbons from the Ribbon Resource online store.  

These ribbons are not yet available at the Ribbon Resource, but they soon will be so check back!  The fuzzy wired pom poms and mini wired pom poms are just too fun!  And, I'm addicted to their 2 mm baker's twine. 

To make sure my twine bow doesn't come unraveled, I dropped a little hot glue in the middle and added a black bubble embellishment from DoubleClick Skittles.

Winter Greetings

 Happy Friday!  I have a sweet friend here, Mr. Owl, and he is just hanging out on a branch and chillin' in the cold.  I'm entering him in a couple challenges today.

I made an ombre effect using a watercolor technique with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink, then added glittery snowflakes using Tombow mono aqua glue and sprinkled glitter.  The sentiment is from the Unity October 2013 kit of the month called Oh Christmas Tree and was partial heat embossed with embossing powder.  The Owl is also from Unity and called Wonderful Owl.  He was watercolored with Tim Holtz distress inks in Brushed Corduroy and the Gathered Twigs distress marker.  The branch is a We R Memory Keepers stamp from a mini set called Yuletide and it was stamped twice and watercolored as well.

Leaves and owls Thinking of you card

I had to come up with a quick card for a sweet lady in my church who broke her leg.   Ouch!   I had previously run some paper through my Cuttlebug and had several cards prepared with this leafy embossed design but nothing else.

So I had this great stamp from  the  Unity Stamp Co    and made a cute tag for the card with some washi tape,  button and string.   I love owls and didn't have time for anything fancy so these are just some cute stickers.   I had also punched the edge of the paper with a Knock Out edge punch and added some green Stickles glitter glue,  dotting the holes.   Hope this makes my friend feel better.....

Owl love you gift tag

This was so much fun to make.   Day 6 of the UNITY STAMP CO.  tag challenge.   First I inked up my tag a bit with some yellow.   For some reason it doesn't show up well in this pic (can we say I need a decent camera?).   Next,  I used a Unity leaf stamp and stamped all over the tag as the background.  

Now for the fun part....
I placed mini glue dots all over and sprinkled gold glitter to adhere to the dots.   Easy peesy!   I made my own little tree branch with some scrap cardstock, then inked and distressed it and added some twine.   I had some cute owl stickers so I stuck it onto some white cardstock and cut around the edges,  then added some pop dots for dimension.

Finished it off with ribbon and a few other embellishments and voila....

Owl card - Owl are you

Ya know,  I think stickers are way under rated.   They can mix in nicely with your card making skills,  especially if,  like me, you're not so great at coloring inked stamps.   I admire those who can pull out a couple of Copic markers and create a Picasso,  however,  I am NOT one of those artists.   :-) 

So this is a very simple card.   I like simple.   Like stickers,  simple is also underrated,  in my opinion.  

I started out with a light blue 4x6 card and layered with a piece of mottled blue and white designer paper.   I cut the branch using my Cricut,  although, for the life of me, I can't remember which cartridge.  The moon was made with yellow cardstock and a 2'' circle punch which  I smudged with some ink and a sponge.  If memory serves me right, I think the owl is a sticker from Hero Arts.  Love their stuff.  And the phrase was made with clear acrylic alphabet stamps inked in black.  Come back tomorrow 'cause I've got a gorgeous card to show you.  My Pinterest - click here
