Pink Foiled Snowflake Card

I recently received a lovely package from Pinkfresh Studio, courtesy of a giveaway they were having on their Instagram account. After seeing the Radiating Snowflake Press Plate in action from some of their designers, I decided that would be my first project with the Magical Holiday collection.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

Although no two snowflakes are alike, the Radiating Snowflake press plate is absolutely perfect! I immediately decided to go with a pink tone on tone theme, pairing the press plate with my Glimmer Hot Foil System, pink foil, and my Platinum 6 die cut machine.

I love that the press plates can be foiled and let me tell you, the foiling came out perfect-o!

I also chose to create a contrast to that perfection by ink smooshing my card panel for a bit of a messy look. I pressed my Catherine Pooler Pucker Up ink pad onto a craft mat, spritzed with water, then randomly dabbed my card panel into the mixture.

I also embossed my inky panel with an embossing folder in my stash, for added dimension.

I didn't want a sentiment that would cover up too much of my snowflake, so I decided to foil one of the sentiments from the Magical Holiday Press Plate with the same pink foil, and trimmed out the line "many blessings" after die cutting with  the coordinating dies.

Those sentiments are also available in a stamp set for those who prefer to stamp their sentiments.

Lastly, I glued some sparkly embellishments and called it a day. Although it's hard to capture a good photo of foiling head on, I shared several angles above, so you can see how different it looks from various angles.

I'm so thankful to Pinkfresh Studio for sending me these goodies. As an affiliate for Scrapbook.com, I've also provided affiliate product links that include all the items used for today's products. These links are provided at no additional cost to you.

Please note, you can find the pink foil at Pinkfresh Studio or Spellbinders but it is not currently available at Scrapbookcom. Of course, it may also be available elsewhere online.

Thanks for stopping by!

Terri

Stitched Snowflake Card for Spellbinders

The July Stitching Die of the Month Club Subscription is live and it's Christmas in July! This month's kit is called the, "Stitched Snowflake Cardfront". It comes with a stitched cover plate and the large stitched snowflake die. There's also a companion die sentiment set that you can purchase separately, "Tiny Merriment Die Set" that includes etched words and outline dies.  Scroll down for details, plus, I've got a true story that may have inspired gluing all those tiny bits onto my background!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I started by die cutting my dies on white cardstock with my Platinum 6. I decided to cut 2 of the snowflake dies in white. Read on, and you'll see why. My card is a bit larger than an A2 size, as that's the size of the cover plate.

I trimmed my own card with an 8.5x11 inch cardstock. It leaves it a tad short on the backside for a vertical card but that is perfectly acceptable. A vertical card will actually stand to display much better, even if the back is slightly short.

True story, I've been watching the History Channel survival show "Alone". The contestants have to survive on their own in extreme winter and wilderness conditions. They have to utilize everything at their disposal to survive, including eating whatever they can scavenge. Maybe that's why I decided to salvage those tiny little dots from my snowflake die cuts, haha! Using up everything at my disposal!

I thought it would take longer, but it only took about 20 minutes to glue all the bits. I simply dropped a dollop of glue onto my craft mat and used the sharp end of my Tool N One to grab the glue, tap into the hole, then grab the dot with my sharp point while it was still sticky. It was easiest for me to line up and drop the glue in 3 center holes at a time, then grab each bit and press it in. Kind of like an assembly line. It definitely takes patience but I was pleasantly surprised with the result.

I really like the rustic look of Christmas so that is the color scheme I was going for. I used variegated DMC embroidery floss for my stitching. Did you know Spellbinders carries DMC brand embroidery floss? Check out their selection, here.

I should mention that I also cut my snowflake on dark green cardstock to coordinate with my layered panel. I swapped out some of the white pieces for the dark green on my snowflake center.

To finish my card, I added some Pops of Color at the top and bottom of my snowflake die in Olive. I also die cut the etched word "Peace" from the Tiny Merriment die set.

I'm pretty sure that I get way more joy out of creating cards than the recipients who receive them. I'm sure you feel the same way too! If you'd like to get some stitching joy in your mailbox each month, the window is open from July 6th-27th. This month's stitching club will ship at the end of the month. There's no obligation or commitment. If you decide to skip a month, just cancel and rejoin again at any time!

Thanks for popping in today. I've got a full supply list/affiliate shopping links below. Have a great day!

Terri

Day 5 GIU Girl for Unity Stamps + Giveaway

Today is my last day as the Growing in Unity Girl for the Unity Stamp Company and I have had so much fun creating holiday and seasonal projects all week long.  I leave you with this wintry card that features the "Like a Snowflake", sentiment kit.

There are so many lovely winter quotes and delicate snowflakes in this kit.

I opted to put the spotlight on the heat embossed sentiment only and create a winter storm with Ranger Ink distress ink background and paint splatters, courtesy of my white DecoArt satin paint.  I also use a wet toothbrush dipped in the white paint to "spray" my watercolor paper, then tap in paint with a paintbrush and use random swipes with a dry paint brush.

A little glitter ribbon and papers from the Echo Park Paper Hello Winter collection finish this off, along with that pretty lace ribbon focal point, embellished with a snowflake button and silver tassel.

I've certainly enjoyed this week and I hope you have too.  Don't forget to leave comments on my blog each day this week to be entered to win one of two grab bags filled with 25 random Unity Stamps.  Thanks so much to Angela, Whitney and the whole crew for making me feel welcome this week!  I'll announce winners some time next week, so check back.

Sizzix Mug of Cocoa Treat Boxes

My son turns 13 this week.   Of course, I've gone and let time slip away and I am not prepared for a party.  So, I thought I'd take these new Sizzix dies for a spin (Mug and Spoon and Scoreboard XL Make-it-3-D Box) and make some "Cocoa to go" treat boxes to pass out at the party as parting gifts.

I even went so far as to emboss silver spoons.  With snowflakes.  And made tiny little hand-tied bows.  I'm so proud of my handiwork.

I showed them to my son and was quickly informed that boys don't care about frilly stuff.  Oopsy.  Guess I'll have some happy co-workers instead.

(These are filled with a Swiss Miss cocoa packet, Kraft Jet-puffed Peppermint marshmallows and a Hershey's Chocolate Peppermint candy cane.  What is wrong with that boy?!)
