Patriotic Coffee Card

I was perusing Instagram this weekend when I stumbled across Brennan Keane's IG page. He's celebrating 2000 followers on Instagram and having a challenge and giveaway. The challenge is to post a project that uses a product from any of the giveaway sponsors. I chose Pretty Pink Posh and Ranger Ink. Also, the Coffee Loving Papercrafters Industry Blog Hop is still going strong. Make sure you check that out as well! Scroll down for details on the products that I used.

One of my favorite die sets is the Pretty Pink Posh Winter Mug. I've been wanting to create a coffee themed patriotic card, so I paired it with some products from my stash.

I created mug die cuts in solid white and patterned paper from the Photo Play Paper "Land That I Love" collection. I colored in some coffee with OLO Marker OR3.7 on the white die cut, prior to adding my patterned paper overlay.

I don't have much in the way of patriotic sentiments, but I did have the retired Erin Lee Creative stamp set, Stars & Stripes. I did some masking of my sentiment, to stamp 2 different colors of Catherine Pooler ink in Midnight and Rockin' Red. This technique really requires the use of a stamp positioner.

I also added lots of sparkle on my firewords with sponsor Ranger Ink Stardust Stickles, then finished off my embellishments with some red and white twine. Pink and Main, another sponsor of Brennan's challenge has a very similar twine. Mine has been in my stash forever and I don't even remember where it came from, haha.

Thanks so much for popping in today. If you'd like more information on any of the products that I used today, simply click the highlighted text throughout my post. Have a fantastic week everyone!

Terri

As I stated in my blog post yesterday, this is an industry hop. You and I are not linking a card to participate, we're just hopping from each sponsors post to leave comment's, gush over all the gorgeousness and be inspired.

As a Brew Crew member and former designer for Coffee Loving Papercrafters, I'm just spreading the love because I want to and because these are my people!

I'm an avid tea and coffee lover and most days, I start out with a cup of java, then switch to tea. I prefer loose leaf tea and have lots of infusers, although I do buy tea bags as well. I often share photos and reels in my IG stories and on Tiktok @wavingmywand.

This is my current situation, below. Piper & Leaf is a local tea company in my home state, just a couple hours from where I live. I've been a fan of their tea for years and love all the varieties. I will often drink caffeine free tea in the afternoon and today, I'm sipping on the Orchard Peach. It's one of my faves and is soooo peachy!

Now, let's talk about the Flash Cards. First, I never knew such a thing existed! But then, I was looking around the Pajama Crafters store and stumbled on them. They're A2 sized heavyweight card panels and there are 24 in each pack. Tap this link and type flash cards in the search field. There's almost 20 different collections. I bought the "You're My Cup of Tea" Flash Cards and they're absolutely adorable.

Let me share a couple brief, creative tips. I really wanted to do some paper piecing so I took a piece of vellum and placed it over my cup, tracing the front of the cup outline with a fine tip black marker. I then used it as a template, laying it on top of my patterned paper and cutting around the outline on my vellum. I was very easy, but not absolutely perfect. I'm still happy with the results though.

I colored all my other images with OLO Markers, using just 4 colors - YO2.2, R0.3, YG2.1, B0.2.

Look closely in the photo above, and you can see where I lightly traced an outline on the inside of my cup, to color in some "water" using B0.2.

Here's a bonus tip: Color all your images first, then color in the "water". It will give added depth to your pre-colored images. I didn't just color water in the empty space, I swiped my marker across the entire space that I sectioned off with my pencil.

To finish off my card I glued some clear sequins and mounted my card panel on some coral colored paper from one of my Scrapbookcom paper pads, Hooray, and mounted to a vertical A2 white card. Please note, I did trim down my flash card and coral paper just a bit, to fit within the dimensions of my A2 white card.

I love how quickly this card came together. It's probably why they're called FLASH cards! Because, you can get done in a flash! PCS is having a Memorial Day sale and everything is 20% off, no coupon code required. Click here to go check out their offerings!

I hope you all have a good weekend and make time to peruse the blog hop. See you next time!

Terri

Pastel Coffee Card

Hello friends! Lordy, I have had a lot of life issues lately and I needed something to distract me. My computer crashed, we just had severe weather and some storm damage to our house with a massive tree blown down in our backyard, and next week I have to have 2 biopsies to determine whether or not I'm going to battle breast cancer like my mom and sister did. Whew!

Thankfully, I have a little reprieve from all the drama. The Coffee Loving Papercrafters Spring/Summer blog hop is here. This is a traditional industry hop, so you'll just hop around at all the industry designers projects and leave comments for the chance to win prizes. Click the link above for all the details.

Let me tell you, trying to write up this post is a major challenge. I haven't got my computer fixed yet so I'm managing on my son's Mac Air which has been dormant so long, the battery won't hold a charge and I had to keep it plugged up to type this post.

I also don't know my way around a Mac Air. I can't figure out how to copy and paste!!! I was somehow able to drag the link above from CLP but it was a struggle.

Although I'm not linking this card to the hop, as it's not a participant hop, as a Brew Crew member at CLC, I just wanted to share the love, promote and support my caffeinated friends!

I opted to create with Gina K Designs products today.  I saw some Instagram posts today where some designers were hopping just for fun in celebration of Gina K Designs.

I've had one of her stamp sets in my stash for a few months, that I haven't inked up yet, so the timing was just right.

I paired the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set with the Daily Grind stamp set, coloring my images with OLO Markers. I kept it simple, choosing only 3 colors that worked as pastels; RV0.2, YO2.3 and BG2.4. I wanted have lots of color and get creative with the bloom by making "rainbow" pastel colors on each flower petal. I love how it turned out! I also used those same markers to swipe the edges of my sentiment and to color up my coffee cup.

I also did some embellishing with a white gel pen, Pops of Color liquid embellishment (Soft Lavender) and tapped on some black ink splatters using the tube feeder of my Dylusions Black Marble spray.

A good inky time was had by all, and I thoroughly enjoyed the distraction!

I hope you'll make time to go enjoy all the inspiration on the hop! Have a great day!

Terri

Honey and Jelly Card for Catherine Pooler Designs

Hey friends, I've got another card featuring the Hey There Honey collection from Catherine Pooler Designs. I decided to create my own background with the Sweet As Honey stamp set, and do some watercoloring with a variety of inks. It's not just about the honey today, it's also about the jelly! Scroll down for creative details on my card, with my clickable supply list at the end.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you

I love finding other ways to use my stamps, so creating jelly jars was a no-brainer! We go through a lot of jelly at our house and are lucky to have several farmer's markets in our area.

Last year, after living in our house for the last 22 years, a huge, random blackberry bush appeared out of nowhere! I made blackberry Italian cream sodas all summer long! This year, I'm hoping it makes a comeback as I'd like to try my hand at making homemade blackberry jelly.

I started by stamping random images on A2 sized white cardstock, using an acrylic block and CPD Midnight ink. For my jelly jars, I used a mask technique, placing tape over the honey bee image, inking up my stamp, then removing the tape before stamping.

Here are the CPD ink colors that I used to watercolor the honey and jelly, which I'm calling grape, strawberry, orange marmalade and pepper jelly:

Amber, Honeycomb,  Sparkling Berry, Succulent, Orange Twist, Drive-In and Serenade. To get the shade of purple I was looking for, I actually mixed a bit of Drive-In and Serenade together.

I wanted to do some tone-on-tone stamping to create the "fabric lid covers" for my jars, so I did some partial stamping on coordinating cardstock from the Spring Gingham patterned paper pack. I chose coordinating inks to match the papers, using Honeycomb, Amber, Succulent and Sparkling Berry,

While there's a coordinating die that matches the stamp that I'm using, there's not a separate die for creating just the "fabric lid covers". That's when we as stamper's get super creative, right? I simply hand trimmed all those stamped elements. It didn't take long but I find it much easier to fussy cut with a good pair of scissors, such as teflon coated or non-stick.

Before adhering my jar lid covers, I finished off my card panel by stamping more elements to my background, painting the background with more Succulent ink and adding paint splatters. The honeycomb stamped images were also watercolored with more Amber ink.

Since I created jelly and honey jars, I chose a sentiment from my stamp set that would work for both, using the mask technique again to stamp my colors with Midnight and Sparkling Berry ink. I popped up my sentiment strip on another piece of trimmed cardstock from the Spring Gingham paper pack, added one of the lid covers as an embellishment, as well as a stamped and die cut honey bee.

I also added little trimmed strips of burlap string to my lid covers, cutting tiny, thin strips of  adhesive from an adhesive roll. Again, good, non-stick scissors are very helpful for these type of crafty, surgical operations, haha!

I did eventually trim down my A2 card panel just a bit, to adhere to my A2 vertical card with a black trimmed cardstock backing.

I would say I spent a good hour on this card, but keep in mind, part of that time was spent deciding on each step along the way. I did not have a set plan in place when I began, other than stamping all those pots and watercoloring them. Everything else unfolded in the creative process, which is what I love. I find it to be very soothing, simply watercoloring and letting my mind take me where it will.

I appreciate you stopping by so much. You can click any of my affiliate supply links below for more product information, to browse or shop. Thanks again and have a great day!

Terri
