Patriotic Coffee Card

I was perusing Instagram this weekend when I stumbled across Brennan Keane's IG page. He's celebrating 2000 followers on Instagram and having a challenge and giveaway. The challenge is to post a project that uses a product from any of the giveaway sponsors. I chose Pretty Pink Posh and Ranger Ink. Also, the Coffee Loving Papercrafters Industry Blog Hop is still going strong. Make sure you check that out as well! Scroll down for details on the products that I used.

One of my favorite die sets is the Pretty Pink Posh Winter Mug. I've been wanting to create a coffee themed patriotic card, so I paired it with some products from my stash.

I created mug die cuts in solid white and patterned paper from the Photo Play Paper "Land That I Love" collection. I colored in some coffee with OLO Marker OR3.7 on the white die cut, prior to adding my patterned paper overlay.

I don't have much in the way of patriotic sentiments, but I did have the retired Erin Lee Creative stamp set, Stars & Stripes. I did some masking of my sentiment, to stamp 2 different colors of Catherine Pooler ink in Midnight and Rockin' Red. This technique really requires the use of a stamp positioner.

I also added lots of sparkle on my firewords with sponsor Ranger Ink Stardust Stickles, then finished off my embellishments with some red and white twine. Pink and Main, another sponsor of Brennan's challenge has a very similar twine. Mine has been in my stash forever and I don't even remember where it came from, haha.

Thanks so much for popping in today. If you'd like more information on any of the products that I used today, simply click the highlighted text throughout my post. Have a fantastic week everyone!

Terri

Paper Pieced Coffee Christmas Card

Hello crafty friends. I'm back with another card for the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge. I'm still laser focused on buffalo plaid and once I get in the zone, there's no turning back, haha! I hope you'll link up, June 25th is the last day. The theme is masculine, coffee or tea and Christmas. Scroll down for creative details, prize info and my supply list.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

My finished project is an A2 sized card, but to begin, I stamped my coffee images on a trimmed card panel that would be sized down a bit when finished.

I stamped my coffee stamps from the Wendy Vecchi stamp set "Let's Shop", using my Misti stamp positioner and black hybrid ink.

Next, I stamped onto patterned paper from Echo Park Paper. It's a retired paper pad but there's a similar pad link in my supply list below. The woodgrain and buffalo plaid scream masculine, wouldn't you agree?

I trimmed the front of the cups only and began paper piecing them with glue, onto my stamped card panel. I know some folks find paper piecing to be tedious, but I actually love it. It's calming and soothing for me! I also used a dark brown Copic marker to color in the coffee.

Lastly, I used my Scrapbookcom A2 nested rectangle dies for my black mat and card panel. If you make a lot of A2 sized cards, I highly recommend this die set. I use it a lot tot create different mat sizes and as of this writing, it's currently half price.

My mat and card panel are adhered flat, however the stamped sentiment is popped up on foam adhesive. The sentiment is a combination of stamps: Waffle Flower Craft (Merry Christmas) and Wendy Vecchi (friend) which is a word from the "Award Winning' Ranger ink stamp set.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Be sure and link up your newly created card here to be in the running for a sponsored $25 gc prize from Jaded Blossom. Good luck and see you next time!

Flowers and Bees Card

Hey, hey, hey crafters!  I've got another card for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Spring Blog Hop.  The hop is running full steam ahead, like a freight train at full speed and oh my golly goodness.... we are breaking records left and right!  As of this writing, it's only Monday and we've hit nearly 700 entries!  We're way ahead schedule for breaking the record for number of entries.   Woo-hoo!  It's so thrilling seeing so many papercrafters this excited and it's especially heartwarming to have so many very generous sponsors offering up some fabulous prizes.  I'll be sharing some affiliate links throughout, should you find something you like.

For my project today, I've done a ton of masking and watercoloring, using Stamplorations Buttercups and Butterflies stamp set by our very own DT member Becca, who has her own line of stamps called Big Grins over at Stamplorations.  They're super fun too!  I've also paired this with another set from Becca called  Cuppa Love, using that fun coffee cup.  What can I say?  I like her stamps.  I thought these would be perfect, when I saw the sketch challenge that Kerry shared on her Sip N Share feature yesterday.  More about that at the end of this post.

So, let me share a few quick technique features on my card.  I started by masking a bazillion flowers (maybe I exaggerate), using my Misti and a couple fussy cut stamped images.  I watercolored the larger blooms with Ranger distress ink in Abandoned Coral, and the smaller buttercups in Fossilized Amber.  For my greenery, I stumbled upon a happy little accident by mixing the Amber and Cracked Pistachio to great the perfect green for my stems and petals.   By the way, this is an A7 sized card.  I'm also using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

I inked my coffee cup on Strathmore watercolor paper and colored with the same inks as above, and mixing the amber and pistachio again.  I love this sentiment that comes with the Stamplorations Buttercup stamp set, so instead of inking it separately, I masked each line of the stamp with washi tape, and spaced out the words to cover the entire length of the cup.  I colored last, with my waterbrush and Ranger inks, blotting with a paper towel.  Oh, and I drew a little bumble bee, to tie in with the sentiment.

Lastly, I splattered my large coral blooms with white DecoArt multi-surface satin paint in Cotton Ball, using a wet toothbrush dipped in the slightly water misted paint, then running my thumb across the toothbrush to splatter.  I did this in segments, covering up the bulk of my project as I splattered each large bloom.  Be sure and use a large box if you do this, so you don't splatter your craft area.  You'd be surprised how far the toothbrush splatters can fly!  I used that same paint, also, to paint the stamen.  Isn't that what it's called?  Those little fluffy things in the center of the flower?  I am sooo not a gardener so someone, please correct me, if I'm wrong, which I probably am, haha!  I'm also using DCWV papers that match my coloring.

Here's the sketch if you'd like to join in.  Kerry offers up a new sketch every Sunday, so you can pick and choose which sketch you'd like to link up to.  One, or all, it's your choice.  At the end of the month, she sends a fun prize to the winner.

Normally, Kerry has an Inlinkz button for you to link up, however since the Spring Hop is going on, just go ahead and link up to the hop but be sure to use #clcsipandshare in your post or title so Kerry can find your project and count your entry.  Of course, you'll also be qualified for the regular hop prizes as well, if using this sketch.  You can get more information on her post, here.  You can link up to the Spring Coffee Loving Cardmakers hop, here.  The hop ends Friday, 3/31 at 6 pm PT.

If you missed my Coffee Loving Cardmakers design team post, be sure and stop in as I'm having a giveaway.  That post is, here.

Good luck and I hope you are linking up and having fun!

Sketch and Coffee/Tea/Cocoa Challenge at TPD Stamps

It's time for a new challenge at Two Paper Divas Stamps and this month we're having a sketch and themed challenge; coffee/tea/cocoa.  Take your pick!  I'm a fan of all three but if I was stranded on a desert island and could only choose one?  It would be coffee, hands down.

For today's project, I'm using a couple stamp sets from the June release.  I chose to color up my "Teacups 2" stamped images with my Zig Clean Color brushes.

Next, I inked up sentiments from the "Keep Calm and Drink" set.   To get those fun splatters, unscrew your ink misting spray and "tap" droplets onto your paper.  I'm using Bo Bunny Bronze Shimmer Spray.

I intentionally colored my teacups to match my papers of choice, the Maggie Holmes Bloom collection from Crate Paper.   My Pen Blade comes in handy for trimming out the inside of the teacup handles.

I hope you'll join us for this fun challenge!  Scroll down if you'd like to purchase the stamps that I've used today.  You can find the challenge and Inlinkz button to link your project here.  This challenge will run for 2 weeks and of course, there will be a fun prize up for grabs.
