Hey, hey, hey crafters! I've got another card for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Spring Blog Hop. The hop is running full steam ahead, like a freight train at full speed and oh my golly goodness.... we are breaking records left and right! As of this writing, it's only Monday and we've hit nearly 700 entries! We're way ahead schedule for breaking the record for number of entries. Woo-hoo! It's so thrilling seeing so many papercrafters this excited and it's especially heartwarming to have so many very generous sponsors offering up some fabulous prizes. I'll be sharing some affiliate links throughout, should you find something you like.
For my project today, I've done a ton of masking and watercoloring, using Stamplorations Buttercups and Butterflies stamp set by our very own DT member Becca, who has her own line of stamps called Big Grins over at Stamplorations. They're super fun too! I've also paired this with another set from Becca called Cuppa Love, using that fun coffee cup. What can I say? I like her stamps. I thought these would be perfect, when I saw the sketch challenge that Kerry shared on her Sip N Share feature yesterday. More about that at the end of this post.
So, let me share a few quick technique features on my card. I started by masking a bazillion flowers (maybe I exaggerate), using my Misti and a couple fussy cut stamped images. I watercolored the larger blooms with Ranger distress ink in Abandoned Coral, and the smaller buttercups in Fossilized Amber. For my greenery, I stumbled upon a happy little accident by mixing the Amber and Cracked Pistachio to great the perfect green for my stems and petals. By the way, this is an A7 sized card. I'm also using Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.
I inked my coffee cup on Strathmore watercolor paper and colored with the same inks as above, and mixing the amber and pistachio again. I love this sentiment that comes with the Stamplorations Buttercup stamp set, so instead of inking it separately, I masked each line of the stamp with washi tape, and spaced out the words to cover the entire length of the cup. I colored last, with my waterbrush and Ranger inks, blotting with a paper towel. Oh, and I drew a little bumble bee, to tie in with the sentiment.
Lastly, I splattered my large coral blooms with white DecoArt multi-surface satin paint in Cotton Ball, using a wet toothbrush dipped in the slightly water misted paint, then running my thumb across the toothbrush to splatter. I did this in segments, covering up the bulk of my project as I splattered each large bloom. Be sure and use a large box if you do this, so you don't splatter your craft area. You'd be surprised how far the toothbrush splatters can fly! I used that same paint, also, to paint the stamen. Isn't that what it's called? Those little fluffy things in the center of the flower? I am sooo not a gardener so someone, please correct me, if I'm wrong, which I probably am, haha! I'm also using DCWV papers that match my coloring.
Here's the sketch if you'd like to join in. Kerry offers up a new sketch every Sunday, so you can pick and choose which sketch you'd like to link up to. One, or all, it's your choice. At the end of the month, she sends a fun prize to the winner.
Normally, Kerry has an Inlinkz button for you to link up, however since the Spring Hop is going on, just go ahead and link up to the hop but be sure to use #clcsipandshare in your post or title so Kerry can find your project and count your entry. Of course, you'll also be qualified for the regular hop prizes as well, if using this sketch. You can get more information on her post, here. You can link up to the Spring Coffee Loving Cardmakers hop, here. The hop ends Friday, 3/31 at 6 pm PT.
If you missed my Coffee Loving Cardmakers design team post, be sure and stop in as I'm having a giveaway. That post is, here.
Good luck and I hope you are linking up and having fun!

I already saw this on Facebook, but just had to comeby for another peek. It's STUNNING, and I'm guessing even more amazing in real life. This makes me wish I was on your "mailing list"...LOL. One of the coolest cards I've seen so far in the hop, and that's almost 700 cards. GORGEOUS!
