Hey friends, I've got another card featuring the Hey There Honey collection from Catherine Pooler Designs. I decided to create my own background with the Sweet As Honey stamp set, and do some watercoloring with a variety of inks. It's not just about the honey today, it's also about the jelly! Scroll down for creative details on my card, with my clickable supply list at the end.

I love finding other ways to use my stamps, so creating jelly jars was a no-brainer! We go through a lot of jelly at our house and are lucky to have several farmer's markets in our area.
Last year, after living in our house for the last 22 years, a huge, random blackberry bush appeared out of nowhere! I made blackberry Italian cream sodas all summer long! This year, I'm hoping it makes a comeback as I'd like to try my hand at making homemade blackberry jelly.
I started by stamping random images on A2 sized white cardstock, using an acrylic block and CPD Midnight ink. For my jelly jars, I used a mask technique, placing tape over the honey bee image, inking up my stamp, then removing the tape before stamping.
Here are the CPD ink colors that I used to watercolor the honey and jelly, which I'm calling grape, strawberry, orange marmalade and pepper jelly:
Amber, Honeycomb, Sparkling Berry, Succulent, Orange Twist, Drive-In and Serenade. To get the shade of purple I was looking for, I actually mixed a bit of Drive-In and Serenade together.
I wanted to do some tone-on-tone stamping to create the "fabric lid covers" for my jars, so I did some partial stamping on coordinating cardstock from the Spring Gingham patterned paper pack. I chose coordinating inks to match the papers, using Honeycomb, Amber, Succulent and Sparkling Berry,
While there's a coordinating die that matches the stamp that I'm using, there's not a separate die for creating just the "fabric lid covers". That's when we as stamper's get super creative, right? I simply hand trimmed all those stamped elements. It didn't take long but I find it much easier to fussy cut with a good pair of scissors, such as teflon coated or non-stick.
Before adhering my jar lid covers, I finished off my card panel by stamping more elements to my background, painting the background with more Succulent ink and adding paint splatters. The honeycomb stamped images were also watercolored with more Amber ink.
Since I created jelly and honey jars, I chose a sentiment from my stamp set that would work for both, using the mask technique again to stamp my colors with Midnight and Sparkling Berry ink. I popped up my sentiment strip on another piece of trimmed cardstock from the Spring Gingham paper pack, added one of the lid covers as an embellishment, as well as a stamped and die cut honey bee.
I also added little trimmed strips of burlap string to my lid covers, cutting tiny, thin strips of adhesive from an adhesive roll. Again, good, non-stick scissors are very helpful for these type of crafty, surgical operations, haha!
I did eventually trim down my A2 card panel just a bit, to adhere to my A2 vertical card with a black trimmed cardstock backing.
I would say I spent a good hour on this card, but keep in mind, part of that time was spent deciding on each step along the way. I did not have a set plan in place when I began, other than stamping all those pots and watercoloring them. Everything else unfolded in the creative process, which is what I love. I find it to be very soothing, simply watercoloring and letting my mind take me where it will.
I appreciate you stopping by so much. You can click any of my affiliate supply links below for more product information, to browse or shop. Thanks again and have a great day!
