Camping Cards for Catherine Pooler Designs

Hello lovelies! Today's latest release for Catherine Pooler Designs is called "Trail Mix". It's chock full of all things outdoors, camping and critters. You're going to love it! I grew up camping with my entire extended family; grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins..... you name it. So many memories of campgrounds in upstate New York. Gosh, I miss it. Alas, I digress. I'm sharing two cards today, but let's talk about the one below first. Scroll down for details, I have a lot to say so buckle up, haha!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I was going for a no-line coloring look and I think I achieved it, albeit, throwing all the techniques at this card, haha. Watercoloring, heat embossing, ink blending, stenciling, ink splatters, stamping.....all the things!

This is a horizontal side fold A2 size card. I began by laying down masking tape on an A2 size card panel, about two thirds of the way down, with all my creative work to be above that masked line.

I started by working my way left to right, stenciling in the trees. To create overlap of the trees, I adhered small strips of masking tape over the edges of surrounding trees, to then go in and create the overlap with the darker ink. I fully intended to show a photo of this process but my stencil was literally covered up with tape and not that attractive, know what I mean? I also had to cover other areas of the stencil design surrounding the image I was using at the time, so as not to get random ink on the paper from the other designs.

Needless to say, my stencil was a hot mess. But, if you're familiar with making hot messes, you know exactly what I'm talking about!

My initial focus for this card was to create a camper parked back in the woods. To make it look that way, I covered my stenciled tree edges with tape. Because I wanted to go with a no-line coloring theme, I stamped with CPD Cashmere ink which is a very light beige color.

Once stamped, I removed all the tape from the trees and began watercoloring. I'll have a breakdown of the ink colors that I used for this entire project, further down.

I have some really wide masking tape which came in handy, because I wanted to ink blend the entire area surrounding the trees and camper. This meant I need to mask my camper, which I did by stamping on my wide masking tape, trimming the design around the edges, and laying it down on top of my stamped camper on the card. I also covered the edges of my trees with more masking tape.

This is also when I ink blended my sun since everything was already masked around the trees. I only used the circle design of the sun and not the "sun beams" on the stencil. Those were also covered with tape.

At this point, I completely ink blended the sky. Here's the breakdown of CPD ink colors:

Stenciled Trees - Pistachio, Mardi Gras
Camper - Uptown, Catching Rays, Slate, Amber
Sky - Getaway, Catching Rays, Samba

Lastly, I heat embossed my sentiment from the Happy Trails Bundle, splattered some white paint, stamped some stars from the stamp set and colored them in with a white gel pen. I also used masking tape to create a dirt road below my colored scene. This is so easy to do! Just lay down masking tape across the bottom of your colored scene, then drop down about 1/2 an inch and place another strip of masking tape. Swipe across the area with the Mixed Media Embossing Brush from Wow, sprinkle on the Wow Rusted Roof embossing powder, tapping off the excess, and heat emboss.

Now, let's move on and wrap this up!

Let me keep this one brief, if I can, haha! I did more watercoloring for this card, stamping all my images with Black Jack ink,  pressing my other inks on a craft mat and spritzing with water, then using a water brush to color with the mix.

The ink colors for this card are:

Uptown, Catching Rays, Succulent, Orange Twist, Getaway, Pistachio, Amber

I didn't have the new patterned paper from the Trail Mix collection in my possession, so I relied once again on the Right At Home Paper pack, since there were similar colors that coordinated with the inks I was using. A plaid paper from that collection was the backing for my card panel.

So, let's talk about the card panel. My white card panel was trimmed down slightly to coordinate with the dimensions of my A2 card, as was the patterned paper.

I started by swiping my Uptown ink from the top, creating a slope midway. Then I brushed on more of the Wow mixed media embossing liquid, following the line of the slope. I sprinkled on the Wow Rusted Roof embossing powder, tapped off the excess, then dried with my heat tool.

Next, I grabbed another A2 card panel and swiped across it with Succulent ink. I then tore the edge to follow the slope of the rusted roof embossing, leaving a slight gap showing the white cardstock underneath and adhered the green ripped paper to my card panel.

I love how the Wow Rusted Roof embossing powder can look like dirt. You can do so many great mixed projects with this powder! It's my favorite right now.

I also grabbed another Wow product from my stash, also inspired by Catherine Pooler, my Halo glitter embossing powder. I took my glue bottle and tapped on various sized dots of glue across my sky, then sprinkled on the Halo powder and dried it with my heat tool. I also stamped some of the stars from my stamp set, coloring them in with a white gel pen and dotting on more tiny stars with my white gel pen.

My sentiment was stamped with Black Jack and Uptown inks, using the mask technique for stamping. Lastly, I added lots of enamel dots from the new Party Greens collection.

I think that about covers it folks! Let me know in the comments, if you have any questions. Flirty Blooms Doodling for Catherine Pooler

Hello friends, I'm back with another project for Catherine Pooler Designs. I have absolutely fallen in love with the Flirty Blooms stencil set, which is prominently featured for today's card. I was going for a doodle effect and I love how it turned out. Scroll down for creative details and more product info from the Petals and Purrs collection!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

To begin, I stenciled the floral image from the Flirty Blooms stencil set using Tiara and Sweetheart inks.
I alternated my colors for each bloom, using one color on the upper half of each flower, and the other color on the lower half. What can I say, I was in the mood to be "flirty"!

To create the doodle effect, I simply used a fine liner black pen to outline each bloom. It's not about perfection here, it's about quirkiness. Leaving small gaps where white is visible on the petals was intentional. My artist friend Lindsay Ostrom once told me, "leave a little white space"and she was right. It also lends to the quirky feel that I was going for.

Initially, I was going to produce a one layer card, however, one thing led to another and before I knew it, I was looking for my adhesive foam circles. March is National Craft Month and I've really been leaning into it. I grabbed my CPD/Wow glitter in cotton candy and sprinkled it on top of my circles, pressing the mix in with my finger and tapping off the excess.

I also added lots of yummy splatters with my Glitz Shimmer and applied some of the new

For my sentiments, I used one of the papers from the Totally Bloomin' paper pack, to die cut with one of the Scripted Sentiments Trio Word dies. Then I heat embossed the other sentiment from the 3 Times The Thanks Sentiments stamp set on CPD Midnight cardstock with white embossing powder, and die cutting it with the new More Sentiment Banner Dies. I love these dies and will be using them A LOT!!

I also layered some light pink and yellow cardstock beneath my card panel, from the Party Mix Cardstock Assortment. Check out all the new cardstocks here. They've just been re-stocked!

Lastly, I created some cute little embellishments adhered on all four sides of my card, using yet another patterned paper from the Totally Bloomin' paper pack. That about wraps it up. I totally got lost in doing all the things on this card and it was such fun, which is what cardmaking should be all about, wouldn't you agree? Thanks so much for stopping by. Pumpkin Pie Sideways Card feat Catherine Pooler Designs

Hello friends and Happy Thanksgiving! I took a little time out of my holiday meal prep to create this card that features Catherine Pooler products. I love, love, love pumpkin pie which is what inspired me to sit down and make this card. This is also the second card in my Sideways card series, which focuses on offset or off to the side focal points. It can be decorative edging, stamping, whatever floats your boat! Scroll down for details! Tap any of the highlighted text throughout this post for additional product information.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I'm using two different stamps from Catherine Pooler, Fall Calls for Lattes (sentiment) and Flavors of Fall (pumpkin pie). For my sentiment, I opted to trim a portion of a larger stamp quote to get the words 'harvest wishes". I do this on occasion and I can always use a stamp positioner to put my quote back together and stamp the entire wording, for future use.

To stamp my pumpkin pies, I used Amber ink for the crust and Orange Twist for the pie filling. I then went in with a waterbrush to color in some Mandarin Spice for the pie, to give a little depth, and touched up my crust with a bit of Cargo ink, which I also used for my sentiment.

To add a little separation between my pies and wording, I adhered a thin strip of plaid paper from the Right At Home paper pack, and a dark green houndstooth paper as the backing for my card panel, procured from the Bushel And A Peck paper pack.

This was a fairly quick card to make and such an enjoyable process. I'm looking forward to diving into some pumpkin pie tomorrow! Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you enjoy the holidays! If you missed the first card in my Sideways Series, check it out here.

Guesting for Caffeinated Christmas

Hello crafty friends. I'm guesting this month for my lovely friends over at the Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge, the sister to Coffee Loving Papercrafters. If you've been following me for any amount of time, you know I'm one of the most well caffeinated people you will ever meet, haha. I do love my coffee and tea, preferably loose leaf tea. I have a variety of gourmet cocoa in my stash as well. But, enough about me. I was excited to learn that the sponsor this month is Catherine Pooler Designs. It just so happens, I'm a Brand Ambassador for CPD and as you can imagine, I just might have a few things in my stash that work perfectly for today's card. Scroll down for details. You'll find my clickable supply list at the end of this post, as well.

First, let me encourage you to join this month's challenge. Simply create a new Christmas/Holiday themed card that features coffee, tea or cocoa and link it up to challenge #46. The challenge begins Oct. 1st and ends Oct. 25th. And of course, there's a prize to be won! You'll find all the details over on the Caffeinated Christmas site.

I'm using several products from Catherine Pooler Designs:

- Holiday Mug Shot Stamp Set
- Holiday Mug Shot Die Set
- North Pole Patterned Paper
- Seasonal Mix Sentiments Stamp Set
- Inks (In The Park, Midnight)
- Sequins (Frankfurt)

For my snowman, I colored him with OLO Markers in colors OR1.3, CG1, BG2.3, BG2.5 and OR3.7. I also used a white gel pen for the cream in the coffee. My little plate of cookies consists of fussy cutting those images from some of my North Pole patterned paper. My "plate" was created by swiping my CPD ink onto white cardstock and trimming an oval circle with my scissors.

Another thing you should know about me is, I sometimes have an idea of what I want to create, but I mostly wing it, haha!

I knew I wanted a snowy background, but I also wanted a big focus for my large sentiment. So, I came up with this design that has a lot of angles, like two separate card panels on one card. I'm super satisfied with the results! While my snowman is inside enjoying cookies and coffee (or cocoa) it's evident that it's snowing outside. Win win!

The "snow" consists of white paint splatter on black cardstock, with red cardstock from my stash for a backing. That gorgeous plaid paper is also from the North Pole paper pack. However, the frame around my sentiment is a zig-zag nested frame set from Scrapbookcom. I swiped some of the CPD ink onto white cardstock, then die cut my frame.

I also used the mask technique for my sentiment so I could stamp one of my words in color. I also used a fine tip black pen to outline that CPD ink colored word.

Most of my elements are popped up on adhesive foam strips for added dimension. I love, love, loved making this card! Sometimes you get in the zone and your creativity just takes over. When that happens, it's always a good day! Thanks for popping in. If you'd like to add any of the products that I used, to your own collection, just tap the affiliate product links below! There is no added cost for you to shop or browse through my affiliate links.

Have a great day and happy holiday cardmaking!

Terri
