Cozy Book and Tea Lover Card

Hello friends. I pullled out some Catherine Pooler products over the weekend, just to have a little creative play time. You know what I'm talking about, that urge to create! I grabbed some inks, papers and the Flavors of Fall stamp & die set. Scroll down for brief creative details. You'll find my supply list at the end of this post.

I started with an A2 sized vertical scored card, then trimmed a 3"x 3 1/4" card panel and another one, approximately 3 1/4" x 3 1/2". 

I swiped the smaller panel with Catherine Pooler Designs (CPD) Cove Blue Ink, then used my blender brush around the edges with more ink to make it darker.

My larger card panel was ink swiped with CPD Goldenrod ink.

My tea cup was stamped with Goldenrod ink and I masked off the edges of the cup with tape on the lower left to stamp a leaf design with CPD Mandarin Spice ink. The leaf is also part of the Flavors of Fall stamp set.

Next, I trimmed a cute tea bag from some patterned paper from the CPD Right At Home paper pack, and adhered it to my cup with a tiny piece of burlap string from my stash. You could also use white thread as an alternate to the burlap string.

My donut from the same stamp set was stamped with  CPD Amber and Apricot ink, then heat embossed in white. I added tiny "candy" dots using my Scrapbookcom Pops of Color in Orange Squeeze. My sentiment was also heat embossed.

 

My books and candle were also trimmed from the Right At Home patterned paper, and I used a q-tip with some white paint to smudge in a glow behind the candle.

Lastly, the wooden "table" was created from the same paper pack and I trimmed it with angles on each end to give the appearance of a table. Creating tables and counter tops with paper is one of my favorite things to do for a scenic card. It's so easy and simple but offers a great impact.

To create the table, cut your paper 1/2"H x 3 1/4"W. Then trim angles on each side by at least 1/2"-3/4".

Santa Mug Card featuring Colorado Craft Company

Christmas in July cardmaking continues, with this card featuring the Santa Cheer Mug stamp set from Colorado Craft Company, designed by Kris Lauren. As a child, I had fond memories of drinking hot cocoa from my favorite Santa mug during the holidays. I now have several shaped holiday mugs in my kitchen cabinet and I bet you do too! I'm using a fairly simple design for this card which is geared towards whipping out multiples of this card. You could also simply stamp the sentiment in the white space, rather than heat embossing which is what I did.

I didn't have the dies that go with this set but the die does cut an open space inside the mug handle, if you prefer the paper peeking through that space.

To make my candy cane look like it was dipped in the whipped cream, I simply placed a large section of masking tape over the whipped cream, then stamped my candy cane and peeled off the tape.

As you can see, I was heavy handed with the sprinkles! I used my Copic marker to add more sprinkles, dotting all over in various sizes. I also used a white gel pen for more embellishment.

I also gave my Santa some rosy cheeks and rosy pink nose.

It took 3 stamps from the set to create this all in one design that I then fussy cut and popped up on adhesive foam strips.

I used a patterned plaid paper from my beloved American Crafts Hot Cocoa paper pad. It's retired, but I'll have a similar pattern listed in my supply list. I'm making it a goal to use up some of what I already have! It gives me a reason to buy something new when I run out!
