Camo Hero Card for Erin Lee Creative

It's Memorial Day and time to remember those in our armed forces who have died in service to our country. Many of us have friends or family who have and currently serve in the various branches of military service. If you've lost a loved one, my heart goes out to you, truly. I grew up an Army brat and I know what it means to be dedicated to our Vets and those who've gone on before us.

With that in mind, I really wanted to make a special card to commemorate this day. Today's card features products from Erin Lee Creative. Scroll down for brief, creative details.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

The camo paper that I'm using is retired, from The Outdoor Life collection at Paper House Productions. You can however, find a great selection of different camo brand paper here, at Scrapbookcom.

I cut several die cuts with my Platinum 6 using the Heart Flag Die from Erin Lee Creative on the camo paper, a double sided adhesive foam sheet and white cardstock. Keeping as much of my die cuts intact with the adhesive foam, I used a sharp tool to pop the stripes out on a 3.75x5 inch piece of white trimmed cardstock, peeling off the top layer of the sheet and replacing it with the stripes from the camo paper die cut.

The full dimension of the finished card is A2 sized, with my camo paper trimmed and layered (as a background) to fit those dimensions as well.

Next, I laid down my white die cut on top, pressing the star section as flat as I could and swiped on some glue over the negative part of the stars.

Once I pulled up my white die cut, I quickly used my sharp tool to grab each star and center over the stenciled glue. You'll need a paper towel to press down when finished and blot the excess glue.

My sentiment was stamped using my Misti stamp positioner and the word "Hero" from the ELC Stars & Stripes stamp set. I love the way this card looks, using the negative pieces from the die cut!

Thanks so much for stopping by and let's remember our Heroes! God Bless! You'll find the full supply list below with affiliate product links at no additional cost. Simply click the brand name to go directly to that product.

CAS Card Series No 2

Hello friends and happy Memorial Day weekend! Today's card is #2 in my CAS card series, and I'm featuring products from Ink Blot Shop! Scroll down for creative details!

I'm featuring the newly released Hot & Cold Drinks stamp set along with other InkBlot Shop stamps.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

My intent for this card is to use a border stamp and make my own "floral" coffee cup.To do this, I stamped a second coffee cup from the Hot & Cold stamp set on my masking tape.  I trimmed out the coffee portion of the cup, in case any of my floral border were to extend above the rim of my cup.

I also masked the sides and bottom of my cup, then stamped my border stamp which is also from Ink Blot Stamp and called Botanical Borders.

Next, I colored my flowers and coffee portion of the cup with these Copic Markers:

R32, YG17, and E37

At this point, if you like the white background, you could leave it at that. However, I love the pop of black so I went in and colored with Copic Marker 100 for my background. It will hide the flower stems so you will need to go back in and use a gel pen or glitter pen and draw in the stems.

I also added lots of white dots with my gel pen. My "steam" was stamped using Catherine Pooler Pebble Ink and I also added a shadow at the base of my cup using my gray Copic Marker C1.

I also smudged in a little white gel from my gel pen along the inside curve of the cup and along the top of the handle.

Lastly, my sentiment is from the Ink Blot Shop Food For Thought stamp set and is currently on sale. I thought that sentiment paired very nicely with my smokin' hot coffee!

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I know it's a very busy weekend for many of you. I've scattered affiliate product links throughout this post and below, at no additional cost to you. Have a great weekend!

CAS Card Series No. 1

Hello lovelies. I've been wanting to start a CAS (clean and simple) card series for awhile and finally decided to just do it. I haven't made up my mind how frequently I'll be doing this yet, but at least I've got the ball rolling. I even made a fancy graphic, haha. And, a hashtag.....! #wmwcascards

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I love all styles of cardmaking yet don't really make that many CAS cards. Depending on where your Google search leads you, clean and simple cardmaking is defined as uncluttered with a lot of open or white space with minimal layers or embellishments. This card actually qualifies as a one layered CAS card.

I have been a designer and affiliate in the craft and hobby industry for a number of years. I have a tendency to be brand loyal when creating specific cards for companies, also meeting the requirements of those companies.

Which leads me to say, I plan to be a little more free with product selection in this series. I plan on using whatever inspires for the direction I have in mind, mixing the various brands that meet the needs for my creative endeavors! Gosh, I said a mouthful!

I'm using a number of product brands for this project, starting with the focal point; an AALL & Create stamp set that I purchased from TopFlight Stamps, specifically to go with my Heidi Swapp sentiment.

I began by stamping my image with black hybrid ink which is good for coloring with alcohol markers, along with my Misti stamp positioner. I also stamped the feet and legs on masking tape, then fussy cut for a bit of masking.

I know, keep it simple, right? The masking technique is very simple and takes less than a minute to fussy cut. After stamping my image, I laid down my masked legs/feet on top to stamp my "floor" so that the feet and floor appear to be as one, rather than simply stamping the floor under the feet.
The stamp set that I used for my floor is from Inkblot Shop and has been well loved. I only wanted a portion of that "floor" stamped on my card, to stay within the confines of my focal image, so I did some partial masking of that stamp or the floor, as well.

If you wanted to make multiples of this card, it would be easy enough to do, once you get in the groove.

This next step is an ode to my mother. She wore her house gowns ALL.THE.TIME! She had some of the tackiest gowns and I set out to make this gown tacky! I had a Miss Ink Stamps stencil floral design that was perfect for placing over my gown, using a fine tip black marker to trace some of the design onto the gown. I know if my mom were still with us, she would laugh uncontrollably at this card!

Next up, the coloring! I used these Copic Sketch Markers:

Gown: RV10,  BG11, YR15
Body: E00 (Cheeks, RV10)
Eyes: E37, YG11
Slippers: RV10, C7
Cap: BG11, C3
Floor: C7
Earrings: YR68
Mug: B93, B000
Other embellishing w/white gel pen

I hope you enjoyed reading about the making of this card, the first in my series and I hope it inspires you to break out your supplies and get creative with CAS!

Most of the stamps mentioned above have direct links attached if you click on the highlighted text. However, if you would like to shop for Copic Markers I do have an affiliate link; feel free to visit ScrapbookPal, my favorite shop for reasonably priced markers and low shipping! Other affiliate links can be found below for some of the other products that I used.

Thanks so much for stopping by and if you leave a comment that would be most appreciated. If you have any specific themes for a CAS card that you would like to see, please let me know.

Terri
