Camo Hero Card for Erin Lee Creative

It's Memorial Day and time to remember those in our armed forces who have died in service to our country. Many of us have friends or family who have and currently serve in the various branches of military service. If you've lost a loved one, my heart goes out to you, truly. I grew up an Army brat and I know what it means to be dedicated to our Vets and those who've gone on before us.

With that in mind, I really wanted to make a special card to commemorate this day. Today's card features products from Erin Lee Creative. Scroll down for brief, creative details.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

The camo paper that I'm using is retired, from The Outdoor Life collection at Paper House Productions. You can however, find a great selection of different camo brand paper here, at Scrapbookcom.

I cut several die cuts with my Platinum 6 using the Heart Flag Die from Erin Lee Creative on the camo paper, a double sided adhesive foam sheet and white cardstock. Keeping as much of my die cuts intact with the adhesive foam, I used a sharp tool to pop the stripes out on a 3.75x5 inch piece of white trimmed cardstock, peeling off the top layer of the sheet and replacing it with the stripes from the camo paper die cut.

The full dimension of the finished card is A2 sized, with my camo paper trimmed and layered (as a background) to fit those dimensions as well.

Next, I laid down my white die cut on top, pressing the star section as flat as I could and swiped on some glue over the negative part of the stars.

Once I pulled up my white die cut, I quickly used my sharp tool to grab each star and center over the stenciled glue. You'll need a paper towel to press down when finished and blot the excess glue.

My sentiment was stamped using my Misti stamp positioner and the word "Hero" from the ELC Stars & Stripes stamp set. I love the way this card looks, using the negative pieces from the die cut!

Thanks so much for stopping by and let's remember our Heroes! God Bless! You'll find the full supply list below with affiliate product links at no additional cost. Simply click the brand name to go directly to that product.

I'd Rather Be Hunting

Hey ya'll.... I'm from the South so I can say, "ya'll" right?  You know what else is a thing in the South?  Hunting.  And, I've got  the perfect paper collection to celebrate the hunter in your life  -  The Great Outdoors Hunting Paper Crafting Kit from Paper House Productions.

This awesome collections is not only great for scrapbooking and chronicling those life adventures, but make the perfect cards for your avid sportsman or sportswoman.  For this card, I thought it would be fun to fussy cut a bunch of tiny images from a 12x12 inch sheet in the collection, and pop them up for dimension.  Hunting is pretty much a masculine sport, but come on.... aren't they just the cutest?  I'm not a hunter, but I just love those itty bitty camo clothes!

This double sided sheet called "Go Wild" has a solid camouflage design on the flip side and is included in this collection.  It also serves as the backdrop for my card.

This 12x12 inch sheet of stickers below, and pack of 3D stickers are also included in this paper crafting kit.  I love that Paper House Productions give you so much "bang" for your "buck".  Oh my gosh, I am in such a punny mood today.  But it's true!  All this for under $10.00!  Best part?  Shipping is super reasonable.  That is a key factor that determines where I will shop.  I can promise you this; you will be pleased not only with the shipping prices, but the speed in which your package arrives.

A Camo Christmas with TPD Stamps and Bleach Technique

Here we are, Thanksgiving week, and I've got a Christmas Tree card with a twist, perfect for your favorite member of the Armed Forces, your favorite hunter, or anyone who lives in their camouflage.   As often happens, when experimenting in crafting, I totally stumbled on this look.  It's not what I had intended but I have to admit, I kind of like it.  Ok, I like it a lot.  In fact, I plan on giving this to my retired Army Dad.  He will love it.  Don't forget, Two Paper Divas is having a storewide 40% off sale.  It's the perfect time to snag some amazing stamps at Black Friday prices!  Gift yourself or a crafty friend.

So how did this come together?  There was a fantastic bleach technique, stamping with bleach, in the Fall issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, written by the late, great Christy Riopel.  Basically,   This technique works best on black cardstock, and I'm using the Neenah brand today.  I added a very thin layer of bleach in a ramekin dish and dipped my ornament stamp in the bleach, stamping onto black cardstock in levels, to form a Christmas Tree.  After I finished stamping, I filled in the gaps with more bleach and a paint brush.  Grab a heat embossing tool and dry it for just a minute so the color lightens up.

Next, I tinted my bleach using Green glimmer mist from Spellbinders and Bronze shimmer spray from Bo Bunny, just add a droplet or two.  The colors won't mix if you do one color on both sides of the dish.  Dip your paintbrush into the green tinted bleach and paint the ornaments.  Zap again with your heat tool.  Touch up the right side of your ornament with more plain bleach to give a "light" effect".  Looks camo now, right?  Cool!  Next I filled in the bronze tinted bleach in the gaps because it actually comes out with a light gold sheen.  Very pretty in person.  Zap again with your heat tool and you are done.  Be careful not to overheat or you will burn your bleach image.  I used a paintbrush to draw in a tree trunk with the bleach as well, and dipped my sentiment in the bleach, too.

I grabbed a white gel pen and  a green ultra fine Bic marker to draw in a plaid design on the tree trunk to give it more masculine appeal.
