Design Team Inspiration for So Suzy Stamps

It's time for new inspiration from the design team at So Suzy Stamps!  Today, I'm featuring several stamps new and old from the shop, on my scenic holiday card.  From the newest release, I'm using the Buck and Doe set, Tree by Olesya, the small Open Stars, Pointy Stars and an old favorite, Oh Holy Night.

Here are some of the supplies I used to make this:  distress ink and oxides (Ranger Ink Faded Jeans, Wilted Violet and Fossilized Amber), water based markers (Marvy Le Plume II), Strathmore watercolor paper, Decoart Satin white paint, Ranger blender tool, white gel pen, Memento black dye ink, Misti stamp positioner, die cut circle, white cardstock, black cardstock, stitched dies, hand crank die cutting machine, Versamark, Nuvo black embossing powder, craft heat tool, water brush, water bottle mister, paper towel

1.  First, I heat embossed my tree with Nuvo embossing powder and colored with my water based brush markers, diluting some of the color with a water brush and blotting with a paper towel.  Then, I fussy cut it.

2. Trim a piece of watercolor paper large enough to layer onto 5x7 inch cardstock.  Use a large circle punch or die cut circle approx 1.5 to 2 inches and add a tiny bit of adhesive tape on backside to hold it down on watercolor paper.

3.  Blend Fossiled Amber around the lower outer edge of moon.  Blend Faded Jeans distress ink with blender tool around entire rest of the watercolor paper, taking care not to cover the yellow.  Layer on top with Wilted Violet Oxide ink and add Faded Jeans oxide ink.  Spray water from a water bottle into your hand and splatter the paper.  Let sit for a few seconds then blot with paper towel.  Heat dry.

4.  Use a wet toothbrush dipped in white paint and splatter your inked cardstock.  Make sure you do this in a box to avoid splattering your craft area.  Heat dry.  Remove the die cut circle and stamp sentiment across the moon with black dye ink.

5.  Use white cardstock and trim 2 "snowy hillsides" or use stitched dies to achieve this.

6.  Stamp the buck in black ink just above the top snow slope.  Ink and fussy cut the doe and pop up with foam on the 2nd piece of white cardstock, next to the popped up tree.

7.  Stamp your stars and color in with a white gel pen.

I just love this peaceful scene!  It really is easy to do, too.

Two Paper Divas and Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

The time has come to bid farewell to the lovely ladies at Two Paper Divas Stamps.  They are retiring!  They're closing their store by years end and everything is on a final markdown at 50% off at checkout.  However, they will continue to keep their blog open to continue to share their inspiring projects.

This is my final project today, for Two Paper Divas.  I'm using one of their retired sets for the Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop and I'm also using the Sunday Sip & Share Sketch from Kerry's feature at coffeelovingcardmakers.com.  Because Melissa and Gayla from TPD have been such wonderful sponsors in the past for the quarterly blog hops at CLC, I wanted to showcase some of their beverage stamps that are still available.  If you've been wanting to add to your coffee, cocoa or tea stamps, you won't find a better deal with the 50% off sale.  They would make excellent Christmas gifts for your crafty friends and family too!

So scroll down and check out Kerry's sketch, if you'd like to play for fun and link up to the hop below, then take a look at some stamps that I've picked out for you today, with clickable links if you'd like to purchase before they're gone for good.

Cup of Joy                       All Stacked Up                   Afternoon Tea

You Warm My Heart                  Mug & More

I'll be linking my card up to the Winter Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop.  Link your newly created coffee, tea or cocoa card as well.  Ends 12/16/16.

Melissa & Gayla, thanks so much for allowing me the pleasure of serving on your design team.  It has been such a joy and I wish you both a long, healthy and happy retirement with your families!

A Camo Christmas with TPD Stamps and Bleach Technique

Here we are, Thanksgiving week, and I've got a Christmas Tree card with a twist, perfect for your favorite member of the Armed Forces, your favorite hunter, or anyone who lives in their camouflage.   As often happens, when experimenting in crafting, I totally stumbled on this look.  It's not what I had intended but I have to admit, I kind of like it.  Ok, I like it a lot.  In fact, I plan on giving this to my retired Army Dad.  He will love it.  Don't forget, Two Paper Divas is having a storewide 40% off sale.  It's the perfect time to snag some amazing stamps at Black Friday prices!  Gift yourself or a crafty friend.

So how did this come together?  There was a fantastic bleach technique, stamping with bleach, in the Fall issue of Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, written by the late, great Christy Riopel.  Basically,   This technique works best on black cardstock, and I'm using the Neenah brand today.  I added a very thin layer of bleach in a ramekin dish and dipped my ornament stamp in the bleach, stamping onto black cardstock in levels, to form a Christmas Tree.  After I finished stamping, I filled in the gaps with more bleach and a paint brush.  Grab a heat embossing tool and dry it for just a minute so the color lightens up.

Next, I tinted my bleach using Green glimmer mist from Spellbinders and Bronze shimmer spray from Bo Bunny, just add a droplet or two.  The colors won't mix if you do one color on both sides of the dish.  Dip your paintbrush into the green tinted bleach and paint the ornaments.  Zap again with your heat tool.  Touch up the right side of your ornament with more plain bleach to give a "light" effect".  Looks camo now, right?  Cool!  Next I filled in the bronze tinted bleach in the gaps because it actually comes out with a light gold sheen.  Very pretty in person.  Zap again with your heat tool and you are done.  Be careful not to overheat or you will burn your bleach image.  I used a paintbrush to draw in a tree trunk with the bleach as well, and dipped my sentiment in the bleach, too.

I grabbed a white gel pen and  a green ultra fine Bic marker to draw in a plaid design on the tree trunk to give it more masculine appeal.
