Honey Card for Catherine Pooler Designs

What's in your cupboard? The new Hey There Honey collection is now in the shop at Catherine Pooler Designs. I adore the new inks, Amber and Honeycomb, new additions to the spa color line. I came up with the idea to create some shelf space for my jars of honey, featuring the stamps and dies from the Sweet As Honey bundle. Scroll down for creative details on my card, a peek at my honey stash, and my clickable supply list at the end.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

If you didn't know, I'm an avid tea lover. I love coffee too. In fact, I usually start my morning off with a cup of coffee. Then, later in the morning, I generally switch over to a cup of loose leaf brewed tea. I have all the gadgets, too including infusers and an infuser mug which I LOVE! You should see my tea stash, I should totally be ashamed, I have so much, haha! Actually, I'm not ashamed at all. I love a good variety and have several favorite tea companies that I purchase from online.
Which leads me to my honey stash.

I typically purchase local honey and we are very fortunate to have several wonderful bee farms in our area, the benefits of living in rural Alabama! The center jar is from the 3D Bees farm, and the far right is from Eastaboga Bee Company. That one is my favorite. I don't know if it's the dark, amber color or what, but I just like the flavor better. The Lavender Raw Honey from Savannah Bee Company is one that I picked up at a T.J. Maxx not long ago. So yes, I go through a lot of honey and I love it. My tea wouldn't be the same without it.

When Catherine Pooler invited me to create with this new honey themed collection, I was ecstatic! As a brand ambassador, I occasionally receive free products to create inspired projects for various events. In this case, there will be lots of CPD designers and brand ambassadors sharing on Instagram and other social media, so go find us, and check out all the wonderful inspiration with this release. You can search Instagram, Facebook, etc. using hashtag, #cpheytherehoney .

Now, my card is A2 sized but let me tell you about some of the elements I created, and I'll give you some measurements.

First, I trimmed some black cardstock for the backing of my card panel. Then I created my "cupboard" by simply swiping the Amber ink pad on white cardstock, then trimmed it.

Next, I trimmed some light green or mint colored plaid paper from the CPD Anchored paper pack. Both of these papers were adhered flat to my black cardstock. I tend to create first and measure later, so here are the exact measurements for mounting on an A2 size card:

Black cardstock - 3 3/8 x 4 3/8 inches
Amber Inked Cardstock - 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches
Plaid paper - 2 5/8 x 3 3/4 inches
Shelf strips - 1/4 x 3 3/4 inches

When I swiped my Amber ink on white cardstock, I didn't get full coverage on the outer edges. I'm not mad about it though, because I trimmed those edges to make cool, wood grain style shelves! I was so giddy about that!

I stamped and die cut my honey jars using both inks, then grabbed the honeycomb stamp and stamped again with Amber ink on the Amber honey pot, and Honeycomb ink on the lighter ink pot, for tone on tone stamping. I then accented my honeycomb inside each pot with a white gel pen.

If you look at my craft table further up, you'll see where I did some partial stamping for the lid from one of the honeycomb pot stamps. I simply placed some light tack tape on my cardstock, then stamped the lid above the tape line. Even some washi tapes are not low tack enough, but if that's all you've got, you can condition it by laying it across your arm, which grabs oils from your arm. When applied to cardstock, there's less concern for the tape ripping your paper as you gently peel off the tape. I did fussy cut the lid with my scissors. You could avoid all those steps, haha, by just stamping the entire pot and trim the lid off. You'll want to swipe black ink across the bottom of the trimmed lid though, either way.

I also used my waterbrush to add some color from the Honeycomb ink pad. I simply pressed the ink on my craft mat, and used my wet waterbrush to grab the ink and paint. I felt like my shelves needed another accessory in the cupboard! I also watercolored the top rims of my honey jars as well.

Lastly, I did some masking to stamp my sentiment. This works best when using a stamp positioner. I stamped the upper letters in CPD Midnight ink, taping over the word Honey. I did multiple inkings for good depth of color, you just need to remember to remove the tape in between stamping, or you'll have a mess on your hands. I did the same for the word Honey, taping over the upper words, then stamping the word Honey with the Amber ink, multiple times. I generally ink at least twice with a stamp positioner, sometimes more to get a good deep color.

All of my stamped elements and trimmed shelves were popped up on adhesive foam strips, as well as my card panel.

I envisioned giving this card to someone like my bestie, my husband, or a tea loving friend. Here in the southern united states, we say Hey Honey all the time!

Thanks so much for stopping in. I'll have some of the other collections from this release linked in my supply list as well, for the sake of convenience, if you'd like to click and take a peek at the products. I hope you have a great rest of the week! Sorry, for rambling, I know I was wordy! Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section.

Terri

3 Quick Fall Cards for Spellbinders

Hey friends, I'm back with 3 more cards featuring the Spellbinders September Quick & Easy Card Club Kit, "Jump Into Fall".  I really love making scenic cards and Spellbinders makes it so easy; there's so many elements to choose from too! My first two cards are scenic, my third card is created with non-traditional fall colors and the last card was one I shared earlier in the week, and am dropping it in, in case you missed it. For some reason I'm feeling super chatty today. I'm also sharing some insight into how I choose and sort my elements when making choices for a scene, plus some key styles that I turn to often. If that interests you, please scroll on down!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

If I had to guess, I'd say there are at least 200 die cut elements in this kit, maybe more. When choosing which cuts I want to use, I usually spread them all out and then group them by theme. So, all the florals go together, all the critters go to together and so on.

I immediately knew I wanted to create a little outdoor scene when I was sifting and found the trees, house and pick-up truck. I started by hand cutting some of the patterned paper into slopes for hills and a flat strip for my "road.

Everything else quickly came together, as well. It's hard to read the words on the chipboard sentiment below the house, due to it being gold foiled and the angle of my shot. It says "Love Lives Here".

The kit items that I used for the card above include:
White A2 card, adhesive, die cuts, chipboard stickers, puffy stickers, patterned paper.

Even though Spellbinders did NOT consult me when designing this kit (haha), they once again included tea and coffee elements which I absolutely love.  I can guarantee that 99% of the time, I'm going to make a little kitchen scene with these products. I can't help it! It's so easy and fun and who doesn't love coffee or tea?

I will rarely use a card panel as my base for these type cards. I prefer to just lay the scene directly on the card. It also makes for a larger scene by doing so.

I first chose my "wallpaper" (patterned paper) then worked out my previously chosen die cuts for my scene. The little fruit basket was the perfect accent too!

I also frequently will use a trimmed strip of solid cardstock for my "table top" or counter space. There's some lovely dark green card panels included in this kit which was perfect.

Elements from this kit used:

A2 white card, adhesive, die cuts, patterned paper, chipboard stickers, sequins, card panel

**There is a pack of black sequins in various sizes included in this kit. They are going to work great for Halloween cards too!

For my card above, I started with the fox. He's so adorable and I knew I wanted to use him. I chose a patterned paper from the kit and lots of leaf and floral die cuts. This kit has lots of traditional fall colors but also some non-traditional fall colors as well.

Since there are so many colors behind my fox, I wanted him to stand out a bit more. I adhered him close to the edge of a brown card panel included in the kit, then trimmed along the edge of the card panel, following the lines of the fox, only on the left side. This gives a little shadow effect which I find very appealing.

Oh, and there's more coffee....and a pumpkin. Had to throw that on there too! There's also a lovely pink card panel included in the kit that I used behind my card panel. My sentiment is a chipboard sticker and it looks kind of like a note torn from a paper pad. I backed it with some of the brown card panel to give it more definition.

Kit elements used on the card above:

A2 white card, card panels, adhesive, die cuts, chipboard stickers, puffy stickers, sequins

I shared the above card made from the kit, earlier in the week. If you missed it you'll find creative details here.

Today is when the new subscriber window opens to join the Quick & Easy Card Kit Membership. You have until Sept. 27 to join. There's no obligation, cancel at any time! If you'd like to learn more about all the different clubs, click here.

Thanks so much for popping in and thanks for sticking it out until the end, haha! I'll be sharing a stitched card later this week that features the September Stitching Die of the Month Club selection.  Happy crafting!

Terri

Spellbinders June Quick and Easy Card Kit

It's June 1st and time to share card samples that I made from the June Spellbinders Quick & Easy Card Kit! The name of this month's kit is called "A Little Hello" and has so many fun elements to create with! Scroll down for a few brief details on each card - I have four to show you.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I'm really crushing on the blue elements in this card kit and used that color scheme on several of my cards. For my first card above I tore some of the patterned paper and adhered it to my white A2 card, scattering blue butterflies all around.

The elements I used from the kit are: die cuts, patterned paper, 3D butterfly stickers, sequins from the shaker mix, chipboard frames and chipboard stickers.

Spellbinders included some lovely tea elements and if you know me, you know I love my tea! I trimmed the dark blue card panel included in the kit and adhered to my card, and also trimmed a strip of patterned paper, running my scissors along the edge to distress it.

Elements for this card also include: die cuts, sequins, chipboard stickers,

I made a cute little shaker focal point for the card above, using the shaker mixer included in the kit. I even used some of the plastic butterfly packaging to trim my acrylic shaker cover and adhered it to the backside of my chipboard frame. I thought it would be cute to let the little fox's tail and feet poke out as well. I adhered it to my plaid patterned paper before sealing my shaker focal point.

Other elements include: chipboard stickers, sequins, die cuts, card panel

Lastly, I created a little scene with die cuts and chipboard stickers. Again, I tore some of the green patterned paper to make some "hills". The kit comes with two different shades of green paper so it really worked nicely to have different shades in my scene. I also trimmed one of my dark blue card panels for the bottom edge of my card.

Thanks so much for stopping by. You can view all the various club subscription kits from Spellbinders here. The window to join, for new subscribers is June 6th. You can cancel at any time and are under no obligation! Have a great day!
