For Dad featuring The Hedgehog Hollow June Kit

Magical Unicorn Card with Oxides and Spellbinders

Hello friends.  Today's project features this magical scene for a birthday card.  There's a fun die cutting challenge going on over at Scrapbook.com and I wanted to create something special to participate; a magical unicorn birthday card.

Let me share some creative process details..... my bokeh background was created using various Ranger Ink distress and oxide inks, and sponged Powder Puff chalk ink applied.

I only used two ink colors for my unicorn, cut from the Spellbinders Unicorn Fantasy die set; Ranger Ink Broken China Oxide and Wilted Violet Oxide inks.  I used a waterbrush to paint the colors onto my unicorn, drying with my heat tool between layers, adding more color until I was satisfied.  Lastly, splash on some water droplets and blot with a paper towel.  I also added gold foiling to the horn, using foil from the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Creative Embellishment Kit and a bit of adhesive runner.

I also made some vellum clouds and sponged on more chalk ink and my rainbow was created using the same color oxide inks as my unicorn.  I also traced glue along the rainbow lines and sprinkled crystal glitter.  Once dry, I splattered some white acrylic paint.  All of the elements were popped up with foam circles.

For my sentiment, I used the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Phrase One die set, cut with black cardstock and my Prizm.  I cut an additional piece using foam adhesive sheets then adhered my black piece to my foam piece for popped up dimension.

For my finishing touch, I hand cut a cloud-like piece of white cardstock and embossed with a flourished embossing folder, then used my sponge daubers and chalk ink to sponge the raised edges.  This piece was also popped up with foam tape.
