Halloween on Main Cards for Catherine Pooler Designs

Hey friends, the new Halloween on Main collection from Catherine Pooler Designs is live today! I've got a pair of cards to share, featuring the Haunted Manor bundle, although you can purchase products individually. I love that there's a Halloween birthday sentiment included too. I know several folks born on Oct. 31st, how about you? Scroll down for creative details and click any of the highlighted links or my clickable supply list to browse or shop. This is such a fun release!

There's also a new ink being released. Made Me Blush is a gorgeous new pink and I used it with both cards today.

For my first card, I did some ink blending with Made Me Blush, Sparkling Berry and Orange Twist. I actually wanted to use Mandarin Spice, but it disappeared in the vast void known as my craft room. I have since found it though, haha!

Next, I splattered lots of water on my inked cardstock. I like to spritz water in my hand and then fling my wet fingers at the paper. It gives a good, random splatter.

After drying my wet, splattered card panel, I proceed to stamp lots of images from the Haunted Corner stamp set (included in the Haunted Manor bundle) in CPD Midnight Ink. I also used a white gel pen to accent/highlight the images.

My ghosts were stamped with Sparkling Berry and for the moon, I took a waterbrush and painted a circle for the moon, painting water across the circle and blotted with a paper towel to remove the ink.

I also squeezed out a large drop of Lime Rickey Shimmer and also the Made Me Blush ink from the refill bottle, splattering those inks across my scene.

Lastly, I trimmed some patterned papers from the Moonlit Manor patterned paper as accents on my card panel. I also used that paper as backing to my card panel, along with my CPD Midnight cardstock.

In addition, I glued some pretty sequins from the new Stars Hallow sequin mix and tied a pretty bow and adhered it to my card. Perfect for the birthday girl who celebrates on Halloween!

The card above is larger than an A2 size card, as I created first and measured later, haha!
The full dimensions are 4 3/4" x 5 3/4".

This next card came together quickly and this is an A2 size card. I started by taking an A2 size white card panel and swiping my Made Me Blush ink pad across the top half of the card. Isn't it pretty?

I also stamped stars from the Haunted Corner stamp set across my sky, but used the Sparkling Berry ink pad. Next, I hand trimmed some hillside slopes with the Moonlit Manor patterned paper, adhering that to my card panel.

For my die cut images, I stamped the haunted house in various CPD inks, using masking tape to block off the surrounding area. You really need a stamp positioner to pull off this technique.

The inks used were Midnight, Sparkling Berry, Mandarin Spice and Succulent. I also watercolored all the windows by pressing my Mandarin Spice ink pad on a craft mat, spritzing with water, and painting in with the inky mixture.

I have had the same CPD Midnight ink in my stash for years and never needed it replaced. However, it started drying out and I've got another on the way....plus a refill! In the meantime, I switched over to stamping my bats and the cat with Black Jack ink. Also, I stamped those pumpkins with CPD Apricot ink.

Lastly, I glued more Star Hallow sequins and stamped a sentiment from the Haunted Corner stamp set in Midnight and Made Me Blush, again using the masked tape technique.

Two contrasts in cardmaking. The first being very mixed media, and the second having more clean lines. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! I'll be sharing another card later in the week so stop back by. Happy Crafting!

Terri

Framed Silhouette Halloween Card

Life has been pretty hectic lately. I've been splitting my time between my full time job, my house, my dad's house and crafting in between. Why am I telling you this? I'll explain further down.

But first, I've made another card featuring the recent release from This Calls For Confetti. This is what I call a framed silhouette card. I've also got a surprise on the inside of my card! Scroll down for creative details and a little chit chat. I'll have my full supply list at the end of this post, as well.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

Our central air has gone out and it will totally need replacing. Of course, it's hot as HADES here in the southern United States, so we've been sleeping at my dads house until we get our air fixed.

Now, I generally will not apologize for my photos or mistakes I make on my cards. Due to splitting my time back and forth between two households, some of my crafty mess is at my dads.

I created this card in, let's face it, horrible lighting while at my dad's house.. Definitely not up to my standards! Was it worth it to have air conditioning? Absolutely, haha!

The photo you see above is some ink blending I did on an A2 white card panel using Ranger distress oxide ink in Wilted Violet and distress ink in Kitsch Flamingo. I also splattered on some black paint. That smudge you see was a droplet from my paint bottle that smeared but luckily, it's covered up by my black card panel.

I used an A2 size black piece of cardstock with the TCFC What Lies Within card front die, then trimmed off some bats and the haunted house for use in my silhouette scene.

I also decided to use my handwriting for a "warning" on my card. Yes, there's a little something inside and I thought it would be be fun to write "open if you dare" in a childish scrawl.

To achieve this, I used the same circle dies for cutting out the open space on my black card panel, to create a circle frame. I wrote my words using a white gel pen, along the curve of the frame then trimmed it off and adhered it below the bottom circle of my card panel.

Once you open the card, you're greeted with a sweet little BOO! I created the Boo die cuts and ghost with the Ghostly Greeting dies and adhered them to the inside of my card.

I the pink cardstock was actually from one of my Christmas paper pads, but I really wanted to tie in some color from the front of my card, to the inside.

I highly recommend wearing your glasses when taking final photo shots.  The final shots were taken in my craft room in the sweltering heat of my house. Heaven forbid I run and get my glasses out of my purse. But no, instead I now see tiny little dots from dry white gel ink that landed on my final shots of my card, because.....I wasn't wearing my glasses.

Note to self, never take photos without your glasses! I could have easily dusted those specks off but this chick is not hanging in this hot house any longer!

Also, you could easily create a shaker card but I opted to glue some tiny shimmery confetti bits onto my sky, from my Spookalicious Mix. They look white in the photo above, but they're actually silver with a prism effect when you look at different angles.

So boys and girls, what lessons have we learned today? One, it's hot and a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Two, wear your glasses. Haha! I have really enjoyed creating with these goodies from This Calls For Confetti. They have soooo much good stuff in their shop. I hope you'll pop in for a look.

I also have convenient affiliate links below, at no additional cost to you. Just click on the brand name below the product to view more product details or to shop.

Happy Fall and Halloween cardmaking! See you later!

Terri
