Patriotic Coffee Card

I was perusing Instagram this weekend when I stumbled across Brennan Keane's IG page. He's celebrating 2000 followers on Instagram and having a challenge and giveaway. The challenge is to post a project that uses a product from any of the giveaway sponsors. I chose Pretty Pink Posh and Ranger Ink. One of my favorite die sets is the Pretty Pink Posh Winter Mug. I've been wanting to create a coffee themed patriotic card, so I paired it with some products from my stash. 

I created mug die cuts in solid white and patterned paper from the Photo Play Paper "Land That I Love" collection. I colored in some coffee with OLO Marker OR3.7 on the white die cut, prior to adding my patterned paper overlay.

I don't have much in the way of patriotic sentiments, but I did have the retired Erin Lee Creative stamp set, Stars & Stripes. I did some masking of my sentiment, to stamp 2 different colors of Catherine Pooler ink in Midnight and Rockin' Red. This technique really requires the use of a stamp positioner.

I also added lots of sparkle on my firewords with sponsor Ranger Ink Stardust Stickles, then finished off my embellishments with some red and white twine. Pink and Main, another sponsor of Brennan's challenge has a very similar twine. Mine has been in my stash forever and I don't even remember where it came from, haha.

Solar Paste Fireworks Card

It's celebration time with Independence Day right around the corner, and I thought it would be fun to make use of my new Solar Pastes. I've also had this Scrapbook.com Starburst layering stencil in my stash for several months and decided this was the perfect time to break it out. I've got a coupon code for you too, at the end of this post.

 The stencil is a 2 piece set so first I stenciled in some of my Solar Paste with the "fireworks" stencil using Beluga, Overheated and Golden Hour. Plus, I added some Ranger Stickles Glitter Gel in Moondust on the image in the center.

Once the first layer was dry, I went in and added solar paste with the stars stencil using the same 3 Solar Pastes.  Quick and easy!

My background was layered using my Scrapbook.com papers from the Playful paper pad and the Rainblow Glitter paper pad. Everything was mounted on an A2 vertical white card.

Lastly, my sentiment is from the Scrapbook.com word die set, Party Celebration Sentiments. I trimmed 2 words with black cardstock and one with red glitter paper, running them through my Platinum 6. All 3 die cuts were glued together for added dimension and glued to my card.

I love the size of this stamp and it's perfect for so many patriotic events, cardmaking, party decor, scrapbooking, diy, etc.

Wouldn't this be a fun stamp to use as a party invite to your patriotic parties?  I've used the "smooshing" technique on my card today, pressing my cardstock into diluted distress ink.  

For added embellishment, I've added some paint splatters, distressed my paper by tearing some edges, added some torn washi tape, along with Nuvo Silver Glitter drops.

Sparklers and Glitter with TPD Stamps

How fun is this new Sparkler stamp from TPD Stamps?  The 4th of July was always HUGE with our family when I was growing up.  As kids, our parents would light those sparklers and we would hesitate to grab them for fear of a spark burning our hand.  But, once we got past that initial fear, the fun began... drawing swirly circles in the air until that last spark petered out, then starting all over again with a newly lit sparkler and haggling for the colored ones.  Remember that?  Of course, all the men would be up on the hill, lighting the most massive fireworks you ever did see. 

This card came together quickly and was pretty easily done.  I wanted black cardstock, to bring out that sparkly, glittery goodness, and I thought my WRMK acetate would be great to pair with it to bring out the bits of blue glitter glue on my cardstock, yet still allowing the black to come through, between those blue stripes.

It's a bit difficult to capture glitter in all it's shiny glory.   To get the effects that you see, I heat embossed my sparklers with Versamark and white embossing powder, then filled in the space on the stick with clear glue and dusted with DecoArt Glamour Dust extra fine glitter.

The sparks were enhanced with Stickles glitter glue with more shades of glitter glue on the background.  The sentiment is from another TPD Stamp Set called "Mason Jar Accessories #1", which I thought was the perfect quote to accompany my sparklers.  I sponged the edges of  the torn white cardstock with my Powder Puff chalk ink and wrapped some pretty red wired beads around  the ends, hot glued on the backside.

Just draw on some extra fireworks and tap little dots all over your background with the glitter glue to finish it off.  This is such a pretty card in person with all that sparkle and perfect not only to celebrate summer and Independence Day, but to share with someone special that lights up your life; a teacher, friend, or that special girl or guy in your life.  Have fun with it!
