Christmas Eve Cocoa Card

Hey friends, it feels like it's been awhile since I've hopped on the blog. I've had a lot of health issues, having been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, and then I'm just getting over Covid after my guys brought it home from a trip to Chicago.  Good news is, the cancer was self contained with no spread to the lymph nodes. I had a mastectomy last month and will not require chemo or radiation, so that is a big "Praise the Lord"! I'm still not feeling 100% but have been itching to get back to cardmaking. I thought I would play along with the Caffeinated Christmas Card challenge this month, to get my crafty juices flowing, and also get a jumpstart on Christmas card making.

First, if you'd like to join the Caffeinated Christmas challenge, tap my link above for details.  Entries close on Aug. 25th. There's also a prize being offered up.

I wanted to night create a scene that is reminiscent of drinking cocoa on Christmas Eve. This is something we absolutely do every year and throughout the holidays. I'm sure many of you do as well. I imagined looking out the window with a snowy, night sky and cocoa in hand.
Let's talk about the products used for my card. For my window scene, I used the Picket Fence Studios Basic Die cutting set 1. My scene behind the window frame consists of Ombre paper from Scrapbookcom splattered with white paint and a circle die cut moon using nested circle dies.

The christmas light banner is another Scrapbookcom die set called Celebration Banners. I die cut these with white cardstock, then colored the lights with my OLO Markers in coordinating colors that matched the patterned paper for my mug. The colors are BG2.4 and RV0.4.

My mug features one of my favorite coffee themed die sets from Pretty Pink Posh. It's the Winter Mug die set and includes those adorable marshmallow dies as well. Speaking of which, when I do some ink smooshing, I often save the scraps. The die cut marshmallows were cut from some of my scraps. I also did some ink smooshing for the "cocoa" inside the cup.

Another thing I love to do is bulk foiling. My foiled "Merry Christmas" sentiment is from the Spellbinders/Simon Hurley Joyful Christmas hot foil plates/die set. I love just picking through my bulk foils to find that perfect sentiment ready to go! My sentiment strip was stamped using the Pretty Pink Posh Christmas sentiment strips, then swiped around the edges with my teal colored OLO Marker.

The patterned paper for my mug is from the Catherine Pooler paper pack, "Bring On The Figgy Pudding".

I also did some 3D embossing using dark gray solid paper from the Scrapbookcom Christmas paper pad, paired with a retired Spellbinders embossing folder. The final touch was gluing some clear sequins to my card for a bit of sparkle.

You'll find my supply list below, with the exception of my OLO Markers which are linked above. Have a great day, I hope you'll join me in this challenge!

Terri

Christmas Joy Card feat. Angie Blom Digital Designs

Hello friends, I have another card to share for the Coffee Loving Papercrafters Fall/Winter Blog Hop. This card features a combination of several different digital images from Angie Blom Digital Designs who is one of the Super Sponsors for this event. Scroll down for more, plus a coupon code! I'm also linking this card to the Caffeinated Christmas Challenge which is the sister site to CLP.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

First, let me tell you about the digital images used for this card. I just purchased the Christmas Joy Mugs digital set and wanted to work around that super cut holiday drink. Let's call it a Peppermint Mocha, haha! There are 8 adorable mugs in this digital set and several sentiments.

I love Angie's designs and have quite a few loaded onto my computer. I paired the mug, as well as the sentiment from that same set with the gnome from "I'll be Gnome for Christmas" digital set and the tree from "Deer Holiday Wishes".

If you'd like to purchase anything from Angie's Coffee collections, you can get 45% off when you use coupon code JAVA45 at checkout, for a limited time.

Now, if you've never worked with digital images, check out my blog post here, where I go into more detail. I use Microsoft word to add my images and print from my computer. There's a slight learning curve but I think the tips I share on that post will be super helpful, particularly if you've ever wanted to try working with digital images but were too afraid to try.

Once you get the hang of it, you will love it! I love being able to resize and move around my images. I generally work with the png files, they're easier to rearrange and have an empty background around the image, whereas, jpg files have a white background around the image, so if you want to combine several images, you need to use the png files.

I used OLO Markers to color my images and if you'd like to shop or find out more information on these artist markers, click here. I love OLO Markers so much, I became an affiliate! If you have any questions, ask away.

If you'd like to link up to the Coffee Loving Papercrafters hop, Friday Aug. 8th is the last day. Be sure and check out the rules, it must be a newly created card. There are numerous sponsors and lots of prizes being offered.

The Caffeinated Christmas challenge ends Nov. 25 and is sponsored by Pink & Main who are offering up a $50 gc to their shop. Again, check out the rules for linking up. You must have some red and green on your card for this challenge.

I also used a white gel pen to accent my trees with a little snow and to add some light effect to the bulbs on my cup.

One thing I should note, the gnome image comes with a small snowman beside it in the original digital image. I wanted to have my gnome appear as if he was holding his cup, so I simply enlarged my cup and imposed it over the digital image. It was a neat little trick and I love how it looks.

Lastly, the diagonal striped background paper for my A2 sized card is from my Scrapbook.com Holiday Cardstock paper pad. You can click my affiliate link here to view it or shop.

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you'll join me for one or both of these challenges! Click the links at the top to hop over.

Have a great day!

Terri

Coffee Mugs Christmas Card

Hello friends. I've been enjoying some extra time off from work this week, having a stay-cation at home. The latest challenge from my friends over at Caffeinated Christmas is live and I was happy to have some extra time to play along and link up. The theme this month is coffee and stars. Your card can be coffee, tea or cocoa themed, but must be Christmas themed as well. I went with traditional red and green colored Christmas mugs. Click my link above for the challenge details.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

The sponsor this month is A Colorful Life Designs.

My card prominently features these products from Inkblot Shop; the mug stamps from the Hot & Cold Drinks stamp set and sentiment from the Sweet Times Sentiment stamp set.

My first cup on the card was paper pieced with the Hot Cocoa paper pad in my stash from American Crafts, which is retired. My woodgrain paper is also from that set. I colored the rest of my mugs with Copic markers and stenciled or stamped on the mugs. My red mug below has stars stamped on it from the Inkblot Shop Grounded stamp set. I filled in my stars with liquid pearls.

My remaining mugs were stenciled using Solar Paste in Golden Hour and the Pattern Play stencil from Inkblot Shop along with the Starburst layering stencil from Scrapbook.com on my last mug.

I did a good amount of masking on this project, to get all my mugs lined up and stamped as pictured.

I plan on sharing more Christmas in July themed cards this month so be sure and check back. I hope you'll find time to link up to the challenge! I also have clickable affiliate/shopping links below, if you'd like to add any of the products that I used to your collection. See you next time!

Terri
