What's in your cupboard? The new Hey There Honey collection is now in the shop at Catherine Pooler Designs. I adore the new inks, Amber and Honeycomb, new additions to the spa color line. I came up with the idea to create some shelf space for my jars of honey, featuring the stamps and dies from the Sweet As Honey bundle. Scroll down for creative details on my card, a peek at my honey stash, and my clickable supply list at the end.

If you didn't know, I'm an avid tea lover. I love coffee too. In fact, I usually start my morning off with a cup of coffee. Then, later in the morning, I generally switch over to a cup of loose leaf brewed tea. I have all the gadgets, too including infusers and an infuser mug which I LOVE! You should see my tea stash, I should totally be ashamed, I have so much, haha! Actually, I'm not ashamed at all. I love a good variety and have several favorite tea companies that I purchase from online.
Which leads me to my honey stash.
I typically purchase local honey and we are very fortunate to have several wonderful bee farms in our area, the benefits of living in rural Alabama! The center jar is from the 3D Bees farm, and the far right is from Eastaboga Bee Company. That one is my favorite. I don't know if it's the dark, amber color or what, but I just like the flavor better. The Lavender Raw Honey from Savannah Bee Company is one that I picked up at a T.J. Maxx not long ago. So yes, I go through a lot of honey and I love it. My tea wouldn't be the same without it.
When Catherine Pooler invited me to create with this new honey themed collection, I was ecstatic! As a brand ambassador, I occasionally receive free products to create inspired projects for various events. In this case, there will be lots of CPD designers and brand ambassadors sharing on Instagram and other social media, so go find us, and check out all the wonderful inspiration with this release. Now, my card is A2 sized but let me tell you about some of the elements I created, and I'll give you some measurements.
First, I trimmed some black cardstock for the backing of my card panel. Then I created my "cupboard" by simply swiping the Amber ink pad on white cardstock, then trimmed it.
Next, I trimmed some light green or mint colored plaid paper from the CPD Anchored paper pack. Both of these papers were adhered flat to my black cardstock. I tend to create first and measure later, so here are the exact measurements for mounting on an A2 size card:
Black cardstock - 3 3/8 x 4 3/8 inches
Amber Inked Cardstock - 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches
Plaid paper - 2 5/8 x 3 3/4 inches
Shelf strips - 1/4 x 3 3/4 inches
When I swiped my Amber ink on white cardstock, I didn't get full coverage on the outer edges. I'm not mad about it though, because I trimmed those edges to make cool, wood grain style shelves! I was so giddy about that!
I stamped and die cut my honey jars using both inks, then grabbed the honeycomb stamp and stamped again with Amber ink on the Amber honey pot, and Honeycomb ink on the lighter ink pot, for tone on tone stamping. I then accented my honeycomb inside each pot with a white gel pen.
If you look at my craft table further up, you'll see where I did some partial stamping for the lid from one of the honeycomb pot stamps. I simply placed some light tack tape on my cardstock, then stamped the lid above the tape line. Even some washi tapes are not low tack enough, but if that's all you've got, you can condition it by laying it across your arm, which grabs oils from your arm. When applied to cardstock, there's less concern for the tape ripping your paper as you gently peel off the tape. I did fussy cut the lid with my scissors. You could avoid all those steps, haha, by just stamping the entire pot and trim the lid off. You'll want to swipe black ink across the bottom of the trimmed lid though, either way.
I also used my waterbrush to add some color from the Honeycomb ink pad. I simply pressed the ink on my craft mat, and used my wet waterbrush to grab the ink and paint. I felt like my shelves needed another accessory in the cupboard! I also watercolored the top rims of my honey jars as well.
Lastly, I did some masking to stamp my sentiment. This works best when using a stamp positioner. I stamped the upper letters in CPD Midnight ink, taping over the word Honey. I did multiple inkings for good depth of color, you just need to remember to remove the tape in between stamping, or you'll have a mess on your hands. I did the same for the word Honey, taping over the upper words, then stamping the word Honey with the Amber ink, multiple times. I generally ink at least twice with a stamp positioner, sometimes more to get a good deep color.
All of my stamped elements and trimmed shelves were popped up on adhesive foam strips, as well as my card panel.
I envisioned giving this card to someone like my bestie, my husband, or a tea loving friend. Here in the southern united states, we say Hey Honey all the time!
Thanks so much for stopping in. I'll have some of the other collections from this release linked in my supply list as well, for the sake of convenience, if you'd like to click and take a peek at the products. I hope you have a great rest of the week! Sorry, for rambling, I know I was wordy! Let me know if you have any questions in the comment section.
