Card Trio for OLO Marker plus NEWS!

Hello friends, I'm so happy to help share some exciting news for OLO Marker. This has been many, many months in the making. Everyone has been asking for fine tip nib markers and OLO Marker has been working hard to bring this product line to life. Yes! This will work like a kickstarter campaign and the fine tip nib markers will have a home of their own, not available on the OLO Marker website.

Scroll down for all the details on my card trio, plus information on production for these new markers.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I'm no expert on all the in's and out's of a kickstarter program. But, this campaign will take pre-orders. Initially, the fine tip nib markers will only be available in 3 different sets for this campaign goal of pre-orders:

64, 128 and 256 color sets. Tap here to see the colors available in each set and to pre-order. Get all the FAQ's here.

(Pictured below, 64 color set)

Eventually, individual markers will be available but it will be some time before that happens.

OLO Marker kindly sent me some of their fine tip nib markers to try out. As a colorist, it can be challenging to color small details with a brush marker. With the new fine tip nib markers, you don't have to worry about coloring outside the lines!

I used two of the fine tip nib markers to color the tiny details. For the leaves, I used BG2.7 and for some of the tiny blooms, I used BV1.2

The remaining coloring was done with OLO brush markers in these colors:

OR1.3, OR1.6, OR4.4, B2.2

I also used a white gel pen for highlight accents and added paint splatters to my background.
The paper circle die cuts were created using papers from my Joyful paper pad from Scrapbookcom as well as a sentiment from one of their stamp sets called "Thanks Friend". My butterfly was from a retired Gina K Designs stamp set called "Blooming Butterfly".

Thanks so much for stopping by. Head over to the OLO Marker Fine Tip Nib website and have a look around! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Pastel Coffee Card

Hello friends! Lordy, I have had a lot of life issues lately and I needed something to distract me. My computer crashed, we just had severe weather and some storm damage to our house with a massive tree blown down in our backyard, and next week I have to have 2 biopsies to determine whether or not I'm going to battle breast cancer like my mom and sister did. Whew!

Thankfully, I have a little reprieve from all the drama. The Coffee Loving Papercrafters Spring/Summer blog hop is here. This is a traditional industry hop, so you'll just hop around at all the industry designers projects and leave comments for the chance to win prizes. Click the link above for all the details.

Let me tell you, trying to write up this post is a major challenge. I haven't got my computer fixed yet so I'm managing on my son's Mac Air which has been dormant so long, the battery won't hold a charge and I had to keep it plugged up to type this post.

I also don't know my way around a Mac Air. I can't figure out how to copy and paste!!! I was somehow able to drag the link above from CLP but it was a struggle.

Although I'm not linking this card to the hop, as it's not a participant hop, as a Brew Crew member at CLC, I just wanted to share the love, promote and support my caffeinated friends!

I opted to create with Gina K Designs products today.  I saw some Instagram posts today where some designers were hopping just for fun in celebration of Gina K Designs.

I've had one of her stamp sets in my stash for a few months, that I haven't inked up yet, so the timing was just right.

I paired the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set with the Daily Grind stamp set, coloring my images with OLO Markers. I kept it simple, choosing only 3 colors that worked as pastels; RV0.2, YO2.3 and BG2.4. I wanted have lots of color and get creative with the bloom by making "rainbow" pastel colors on each flower petal. I love how it turned out! I also used those same markers to swipe the edges of my sentiment and to color up my coffee cup.

I also did some embellishing with a white gel pen, Pops of Color liquid embellishment (Soft Lavender) and tapped on some black ink splatters using the tube feeder of my Dylusions Black Marble spray.

A good inky time was had by all, and I thoroughly enjoyed the distraction!

I hope you'll make time to go enjoy all the inspiration on the hop! Have a great day!

Terri

Encouragement Card with Muted Florals

Life can throw curve balls our way from time, and I've been very fortunate to be relatively healthy for much of my adult life. I'm currently waiting on test results however, that can change that course and take me down a road that many have followed. The most frustrating part right now is the waiting and I'm not a patient girl, haha! I do have my faith and that helps tremendously to keep me grounded, along with the support of family and friends. With all that being said, encouragement cards have always been my favorite card to make. We all need encouragement, and honestly, I can't imagine anyone not accepting it. While I'm currently facing uncertainty, I was drawn to make an encouragement card. It brought me so much joy and peace to create this card that features products from Scrapbook.com, Gina K Designs, and OLO Marker. Creative details below, with my supply list at the end.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

The stamp set I'm featuring today is Gina K Designs Thoughtful Flowers. This is available individually as a stamp set or as bundle with the stamp and die set. The stamp set has a beautiful cluster of blooms, along with individual flowers, leaves and other elements, including a splatter stamp. The stamp set also has a good number of sentiments, which I love. You can never have too many sentiment choices!

Also, one of my favorite paper pads is from Scrapbook.com. It's an ombre paper that comes in a lot of different shades and mimics the look of ink blending. I actually went to my personal Facebook page and asked my friends to help me choose the pink or the green ombre paper for this card. The pink won!

I was kind of leaning towards the pink too, because it had that pretty yellow as well and that helped pull out the yellows in my colored blooms.

Let me also show you how I applied the splatter stamp. I simply placed low tack tape over my floral stamping, then stamped with the splatter stamp in the empty space. So easy!

I have to admit, coloring is my favorite part. All of my coloring was done with my OLO Markers in these colors:

YO2.3 - Butterscotch
YO2.2 Pudding
RV0.2 - Bubble Gum
R5.3 - Dusty Rose
YG8.3 - Lichen
YG8.5 - Moss
YO2.0 - Eggshell
R0.2 - Pink Lemonade

I really wanted soft, muted colors and I was so happy with how all of these colors paired together so nicely. When making my color choices, I generally swipe my markers on some scrap cardstock to see how they match up together, before applying the ink to my images. I passed over several colors because they were too bright or too dark for what I wanted to achieve.

I also used a white gel pen as an accent on my blooms and leaves.

Since I tend to create first and measure later, my full card dimensions were just over A2 sized, at
4 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches. This could easily be scaled down a bit for A2 size if that is your cardmaking preference.

I love how this card turned out and I can't wait to give it to someone who needs encouragement. If you'd like to browse for more product detail, or shop for any of the products that I used today, I've provided convenient affiliate links below. There is no added cost to you, if you click and shop through my affiliate links. If you make a purchase, the companies that I work with compensate me a few cents per dollar so, please consider shopping through my affiliate links. I appreciate it so much and every little bit helps!

Have a great day!

Terri

Modern Butterfly Sympathy Card

As we all do from time to time, I had the need to make a sympathy card today. I also purchased some Gina K Designs products recently that needed some love. In addition, I wanted to make something more modern, yet keep it somewhat simplistic. Scroll down for some brief chit chat, creative details and a clickable supply list at the end of this post.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

There are so many different directions to go to, when making a sympathy card. For my friend, who's father passed away, she's not the frilly type. I also didn't want to go over the top or throw a lot of things at this card.

Rather than create a separate card panel to mount on a card, I decided to trim and score my own A2 side fold card with heavyweight cardstock that wouldn't show any ink on the flipside.

I started by doing some partial ink blending with my Gina K Designs oval mask/stencil using Ranger Ink distress oxide ink in Faded Jeans. I chose this as the dominant color, to tie in with the tiny bit of blue on my butterfly.

Butterflies symbolize transformation and I thought it would be an appropriate symbol for my sympathy card. I stamped the Gina K Designs Blooming Butterfly image in black hybrid ink with my stamp positioner, then colored with OLO Markers. Here are the colors that I used:

OR4.1, 0R4,2, OR1.3,  0R3.4, 0R3.7, B4.3, YG2.5, YG8.5

I also embellished my butterfly with a white gel pen. As you can see in the close-up photo below, I also drew some white lines across the body of the butterfly and smudged them. It wasn't exactly to my liking, so I touched up the white lines with a black fine tip pen. I was much happier with it after the touch up!

I also used the coordinating Blooming Butterfly Die to cut with my Platinum 6 die cut machine.

This card took me approximately 30 minutes to make. Some of that time was figuring out what I wanted to do. I actually had a different plan to begin with but I'm very happy with my end results.

Lastly, I popped up my butterfly and sentiment with adhesive foam strips. By the way, I just love the scripty fonts of the sentiments in this stamp set. They're just so delicate! Also, my sentiment was stamped with Catherine Pooler ink in Macchiato.

I could have easily added some sequins or other sparkly embellishment, but my friend is not the bling-bling type and I chose to keep my design more simplistic.

Thanks so much for popping in. If you'd like more product information or wish to shop, I have affiliate links below to Scrapbookcom, provided at no additional cost to you. You can shop for OLO Markers, here, as I am also an affiliate for them as well. If you do make a purchase, I receive a small commission, a few cents per dollar. I appreciate it so much when you use my links, which occasionally allow me to invest back into the craft I love so much, and hopefully, inspire you as well.

Have a fabulous week.....we're expecting snow and we're all just a little excited here in the southern United States, haha!

Terri
