Inspiration Blog Hop with Graciellie Design

It's time for another inspiration blog hop with Graciellie Design.  I'm your last stop on the hop, so if you missed anything, be sure and head back to the beginning at Gracie's blog where the winners have also been announced for the Unity Stamp new release giveaway.

Today, I'm featuring the Sweet Tea Kitty stamp set from Unity Stamps and Graciellie Design.  This sweet kitty is up to no good!  She's been playing with the string again, and making a mess of things!  Haha!  We are also featuring Westcott Brand all month, so I'll be showing you how I used some of those products, as well.

A few key points of interest for my project; my kitty stamp was heat embossed on vellum with Ranger Ink Oxides and before fussy cutting, I painted the entire backside with white Decoart paint for that stark white look.

To create that cute little spool of string, I simply hand drew a spool on kraft paper, scored the top and bottom rim, wrapped a little twine around the "spool", then used my Westcott hot glue pen to seal the deal!  I think my little spool is just as cute as my kitty!  My fine tipped Westcott scissors are actually sewing scissors and they cut like a dream.

I hot glued more of the twine around my card, as my kitty has been naughty, unraveling the string!  Look at her, hiding out in that tea cup!  My sentiment was heat embossed as well, fussy cut with a matching kraft border. Designer papers include Graphic 45 French Country and DCWV Gilded stack.

Isn't this the cutest stamp set, ever?  Gracie also sells the digital version in her Etsy shop, but if you love those red rubber stamps from Unity, then you can grab this, here.

Thanks so much for stopping in.  I hope you were one of the winners from the new release hop.  See you next time.  Terri

Spring Garden Card with Bleach Technique

I'm so excited to you bring you this pretty card today, featuring some of my new, favorite stamps, here at So Suzy Stamps.  Have you ever tried the bleach technique?  It's a lot of fun, but you must handle with care and have plenty of room to work with.  Today's featured stamps are the Rose Bloom Trio, Love and Happiness and Spire Sage.

I have some instructions so you can re-create this card.  Shall we begin?  First, you will want to use your Misti stamping tool for this project.  Trust me on this.  I'll be doing some masking as well and having the ability to use a stamp positioner is key.

Here's what you need:

-small amount of bleach  (approx. 1 tbsp.) in a small bowl or measuring cup
- cotton balls
-small paintbrush
-paper towel
-4" x 6" black cardstock (Neenah) *bleach works best on black cardstock
-white cardstock
-additional designer card panel (Graphic 45)
-A2 Kraft card
-adhesive runner
-Misti Stamping Tool

1.  Stamp the Rose Bloom trio onto white cardstock and fussy cut as your masking piece.

*Very important - make sure that you have cleaned the inside stamping lid of your Misti.  You do not want your bleached stamp to drop and ruin your project.  I speak from experience!!

2.   Position your Rose Bloom Trio stamp across the lower left and center of your black cardstock.  I stamped at a slight angle.  Grab the stamp with your Misti.  Take a cotton ball and soak up some bleach, squeezing some out if overly saturated.  Rub the bleach lightly across your Rose Bloom Trio stamp, taking care not to saturate your stamp, yet make sure that it is covered completely.  You may wish to cut several pieces of black cardstock to test with, until you find the right amount.

3.  When you stamp your bleached stamp with your Misti, do it quickly and do not overly press your image, or you will over saturate your paper with bleach.  This may take a few tries, but you will get the hang of it.

4.  Wipe off your stamps immediately with a paper towel and be sure to rinse/wash your stamps thoroughly when finished.

5.   Position your Spire Sage stamp with your Misti, swipe with bleach/wet cotton ball and stamp randomly across the top of your masked Rose Bloom Trio.

6.  Do the same process above for your sentiment.

7.  Dip a small paintbrush into your bleach and tap some splatters across the top of your black cardstock.

8.  Layer your A2 Kraft card with a coordinating piece of designer paper.  I'm using Graphic 45's A Proper Gentleman.  Trim your bleached cardstock to size and adhere.  Embellish as desired.

I hope you'll give this fun technique a try.  Be sure and join us over at the So Suzy Stamps Flaunt It Group on Facebook and share your So Suzy creations with us!

Coffee, Books and Graphic 45

I'm joining the Sunday Sip n Share Sketch challenge over at Coffee Loving Cardmakers.  You can view any of the Sunday Sip n Share Sketches and create with any of the available sketches each month.  Every Sunday, offers a new sketch by design team member Kerry Urbatch.

I  chose to use products from the Graphic 45 Cafe Parisian collection.  Those tea cups are actually 5 individual cups that I stamped with the no-line water color technique and colored with a mix of Zig Clean color and Tombow dual brush markers.  I fussy cut each cup and stacked them, trimming as needed so they appear to fit.  I also used my mirror image stamp from So Suzy Stamps.  It's a flat rubber square that you can use with your Misti Stamping Tool.  It allows you to stamp a reverse image.  You can see that one of my stack cups is actually reversed.  Isn't that cool?

I love Kerry's sketch so I totally had to play along.  Look for any of the Sunday Sip n Share Sketches that are posted and link up with the InLinkz at the end of Kerry's post.

Growing in Unity Blog Hop + Coffee Loving News!

It's time for the Growing in Unity Blog Hop!  For those of us who've been lucky enough to be one of the Growing in Unity Girls in the last few months, we're coming together for one last fling before the year's end.  Stick around for a minute because I've got some other fun news to share as well.  If you arrived from Amy's blog, you're in the right place.

For my project today, I'm using the September 2015 Kit of the Month, "Our Hearts To Yours".
Unity has several different membership programs to fit your needs and the KOM membership is very popular.  Of course, there are thousands of stamps available for purchase that don't require membership.  Thank goodness, right?

SEPTEMBER-2015-OUR-HEARTS-TO-YOURS

I'm especially fond of this kit because I love winter stamps and I adore coffee stamps.  This adorable mug could pass for a specialty coffee or cocoa!  I'm using a mix of coloring tools on my project today to include Tombow dual brush and Zig clean color brushes on my Strathmore watercolor paper.  My papers are from Graphic 45's Cafe Parisian collection.  It is no accident that my colored images match my papers.  I love getting all matchy-matchy.  Don't miss my jingle bells, dangling from burlap string, either.  So cute!

If you'd like more information on the amazing products that Unity Stamps has to offer, visit their website, here.

Now, it's time to hop on over to Helen's blog.

If you get lost, head back to the Unity Blog.

Hello crafters.  I'm so excited to share this project with you today.  Graphic 45 has come out with a new collection called "Café Parisian".  It is absolutely dreamy.  It's all things French, pastries, coffee, tea..... a European Culinary delight!

When I saw the first sneak peeks on the G45 website, I knew that I would have to share with my coffee and tea loving friends.  The Graphic 45 family is near and dear to my heart.  I first came to know them through the Craft and Hobby Association trade shows and had the pleasure of sitting in on one of their classes for my article on the CHA blog.  If you ever have the opportunity to see Jeff Filimoehala teach a class, you are in for a treat.

I love that so many of the G45 papers blend with other collections and allows you to make the most of what you have.  I adore plaids and stripes and this collection is full of them.

On my card today, I'm using several Café Parisian products; ephemera, paper, die cut flowers and my favorite at the end of this post.... the #3 stamp set.  There are 3 stamp sets in this collection and they are all amazing, but #3 is my favorite.  Isn't that tea cup just darling?  Imagine all the different ways you can color and embellish it.  I've watercolored my tea cup today, using Susan K Weckesser Color Pop mini inks.

Graphic 45 was kind enough to send me their collection so I could share with all my friends at the Fall Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop.  They are also sponsoring a prize featuring some of these very products.

It would be lovely if you would stop by the G45 Facebook page or their Instagram page, and leave them a comment, thanking them for this giveaway.  Just mention that the Coffee Loving Cardmakers sent you.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I'm leaving you with the shopping link below.  It's wonderful isn't it?  That tea cup.... the sentiments.... you're very welcome!

Magic Potion Coffee with TPD Stamps for Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop

We're winding up the September stamp release at Two Paper Divas with a store wide sale in celebration of the Fall Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog Hop.  A discount of 25% will be taken off at checkout so if you've got a wishlist, now's the time to stock up.

Since we're talking about coffee, I've got an unusual project today that spotlights that magic bean, that juice that gets my day jumping..... yes, indeed, coffee is a magic potion for many of us, wouldn't you say?

I wanted to create a Halloween card so I've taken a page from a used Harry Potter paperback that I picked up specifically for re-purposing.  I've paired it with Graphic 45 Rare Oddities papers to spotlight that magic potion..... coffee!  I'm using the Afternoon Tea stamp which is from the newest release.  Notice how my theme ties everything together?  Coffee sitting on books, a book shelf in the background and a page from a book.  I'm an avid reader as well so if you have a good book recommendation, I'm all ears.

It is also no coincidence that this page is from the Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets book.  The chapter title is The Polyjuice Potion.  The story line is when Professor Dumbledore's bird, Fawkes, caught on fire.  My polyjuice potion is coffee.  It turns me into a human, haha!  I've also distressed my book page and added splatters as well.  And, we have a bird in the background which ties to the story line also.   This is a large card at 5"x 7" and could easily be used as a display piece.

You can create a new project and join the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop as well.   Get the details here.   Two Paper Divas is a sponsor and is giving away prizes all week.  Details can be found on their blog.

New Release at TPD Stamps - Day 2 + Sale

It's day 2 of the new release at Two Paper Divas and today, I'm featuring two of the new stamp sets, Afternoon Tea and One Cup at a Time.  They're on sale today as well so don't wait, if you're thinking about ordering.

I wanted to make a card that would be gender friendly, appropriate for a guy or girl, so I stuck with mostly neutral tones, for today's project.

I used the TPD background stamps on my books as well, stamping my background stamps on white cardstock, then stamping my Afternoon Tea image on top.  I stamped my tea image again separately, so I could fussy cut my cup and add it on top of my colored books.  I wanted my books to have that grainy look that old canvas covered books sometimes have.  I love how they turned out!

I actually used a mix of Tombow dual brush and Zig Clean Colors for all my coloring.  Notice that piece of canvas fabric ribbon under my books?  To get that "scrunched" look, run your fabric through a sticker maker (Xyron) and when placed on cardstock, pinch it in sections.  And there's your bonus tip for the day!
