New Release from Erin Lee Creative

The January 2025 new release is in the shop at Erin Lee Creative! I am so thankful to Erin for sending me some products from this release. I'm such a fan and her products are so inventive! I'll be sharing more in the coming days, but today's card features the Love Birds stamp/die set. This scene makes me think of a page from a children's storybook. When I got my first peek at the Love Birds stamp set, I immediately envisioned a twilight lake scene. It turned out just like I hoped it would! Scroll down for details, with my clickable shopping list at the end.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

The stamp set comes with lots of sentiments and 3 different love bird images. You can make friendship cards, valentines, wedding cards and more!

But first, let's talk about my background and how this ink blending was achieved. Oh wait, it's NOT ink blending! It's ombre paper and I love it. I'll share the link below but let me tell you how I split my scene with this ombre paper for this A2 size side fold card.

About two thirds of the way down, I grabbed my white gel pen and drew a wavy white line from left to right for my "lake". Then I drew some more wavy lines for the waves. I use Signo white gel pens and usually get them on Amazon

Bonus Tip:

Any gel pen will need priming. For easier flow, simply rub across your finger tip to prime the ink and do so as needed. If you use a gel pen on top of ink blending, it will quickly clump and need frequent priming.

Next, I grabbed my wide mint tape to create a stencil, cutting a circle out for the moon using a 1 1/2 inch circle die with my Platinum 6 die cut machine. There are other ways to do this, for example a circle punch, but I couldn't find my circle punch!

I proceeded to ink blend the half circle at the top of my card panel for my moon, with white pigment ink and a touch of Ranger Distress oxide ink in Wilted Violet.

I fussy cut my swans, rather than using the coordinating die, as I wanted to split my swans. I also trimmed the bottom of my swans to appear more like they're floating on the surface. I ink blended just a bit on top of my swans with more Wilted Violet.

Next, I covered the lower portion of my card panel and splattered white paint across my sky to represent stars in the sky. I used the Spellbinders Splatter White. It's highly concentrated and only a tiny amount in the jar but it goes a long way. To achieve splatters like you see on my card, apply a small amount to a small acrylic block, dab on a couple droplets of water and mix with a paintbrush. Use a small to medium round tipped paintbrush to flick the wet mixture off the edge of the acrylic block.

I have a recent reel on my Instagram page that shows how this is done, here.

My sentiment is one of the many choices from this stamp set. I hand trimmed my cardstock after stamping, using the leftover ink on my blender brush around my wording to give a little color.

Sew Much Fun with TPD Stamps

If you haven't heard, Two Paper Divas is retiring after many, many years of creativity.  I'm so sad to see them go but they have earned a well deserved time of rest and relaxation and have left a wonderful legacy in the craft industry.  They will still maintain their blog and share creations but the store will be closed by the end of the year.  Right now, everything is 40% off storewide.  Many items are already out of stock, but this fun set, "Sew Much Fun" is still available.  It even has a "handmade just for you" stamp.  One can never have too many of those.

I've designed a simple CAS card today that you can easily re-create.  I'm using a stencil from The Crafter's Workship to create a focal point for my little threaded bobbin stamp.  This is such a versatile stamp set with, what I think, are simply the cutest stamps!  I mean, they're so adorable, right?

Purchase Sew Much Fun, here.

Melon Love Gift Set for TPD Stamps ~ New Release!

It's day one of the June release at Two Paper Divas Stamps and I'm sharing a fun gift set today, featuring the brand new "Melon Love" stamp set.  I'll share a few quick technique tips but don't forget to scroll to the end to see the fun coordinating envelopes as well, along with prize info and the new challenge coming up.  Oh, and did I mention all stamp sets for the new release are 20% off today and tomorrow only?

I recently came back from a craft retreat and while I was there, I won a door prize that included these fun papers from Pink Paislee, called "Fruit Stand".  I thought they were perfect to showcase the TPD melon stamps.  I also wanted to get as much bang for my buck out of these papers, (yeah, I know, they were free....) so I made 4x4 cards, getting 3 cards out of one piece of 12x12 paper.  Bonus!

I chose to keep this card set simple, without any added adornment, so the focus is on those amazing sentiments and adorable slices of watermelon.  So cute!

All of the images are colored with Tombow dual brush pens and I used my Tim Holtz waterbrush to move around some of the color.

A scrunched up paper towel, dipped in white pigment ink, gives those melon rinds that speckled look.  I really love how the water brush gave me that marbled color that watermelon sometimes has, as pictured below.  I've also used my LaLa Land stitched circle dies for the sentiments and sponged Hero Arts ombre distress ink around the edges.  The circles and melon slices are all popped out with foam squares.

Lastly, I created coordinating envelopes with the same paper, using my We R Memory Keepers 123 Punch board.   Wouldn't it be fun to stamp and color the coordinating melon slice onto the front corner of your envelope?

Click here to purchase Melon Love.  Be sure to leave comments on day 1 and 2 of the new release on the TPD blog to be entered to win a one of two new stamp sets!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! JUNE 13TH - The next challenge at TPD Stamps is a sketch challenge and it's easy peasy, plus..... it's coffee/tea themed!  So break out your coffee or tea stamps and get ready.  There will be a fabulous prize up for grabs.

Here's a project that I made especially for my crafting bestie's wedding Anniversary.  It was a big shindig, celebrating 25 blissful years.  Well, we all know.... not every year is blissful!  She finally got her card, so now, I can share it with you all.  I'm so in love with this butterfly from So Suzy Stamps.  It's been awhile since I last broke it out.  I thought it was the perfect opportunity to pair it with a newer sentiment that I've also had in my supply; a fabulous quote from the famous actress, Audrey Hepburn which aptly, is the name of the sentiment stamp.

For the butterflies, I stamped with my Hero Arts ombre green ink, then sprinkled clear embossing powder and heated with my heat embossing tool.  Both were stamped onto Kaisercraft Heirloom patterned paper and I fussy cut one of the butterflies for dimension.   This butterfly stamp is the most intricate that I've ever seen and is simply stunning.   Click on any of the highlighted affiliate links, if you'd like to purchase one for yourself.  Or, two or three!  They make lovely gifts for your crafty friends.

Doesn't it look like it will simply fly off the page?  To be able to slide this into an envelope, I simply scored both sides where the wings connect and simply folded one wing.   It's adhered with a thin strip of Thermoweb glue lines.   My friend will be able to unfold and open both wings for display.  Magic!

Visit So Suzy Stamps today!   It's a one-stop shop where you can find many of your crafting supplies; adhesives, stencils, embellishments and more.

Be sure and bookmark the store once you get there.  I promise it will soon become one of your favorite stops!  Don't forget to stop by the blog for daily inspiration, fun giveaways and random craziness!  Join Suzy's Flaunt it Group on Facebook to share your projects as well and hang out with the rest of the cool crowd!

P.S.  Happy Anniversary Nancy and Larry!

New Release at Two Paper Divas Stamps

The new release for Two Paper Divas stamps starts today and I'm featuring the new set, "Howdy".  Once in awhile, I like to mix it up and do some of my own art work on a project, and that's what I've done today;  a watercolored forest scene to accent that fabulous sentiment!

I started by watercoloring some trees with Hero Arts Ombre ink.  This watercolor technique is very simple.  Take your ink pad and press onto an acrylic block or craft mat.  Spritz with water and paint with a paint brush, or use a water brush.  I did use my Tim Holtz waterbrush for this project.

The fence was fun to do.  I started by painting a white post, then used a small angled paintbrush to brush on some brown distress ink for a shaded, woody look.  Lastly, I lightly sponged some white chalk ink to blend and soften the edges.

It's just what I wanted as a backdrop for that fabulous sentiment.  Our family loves to visit State Parks and hike on the trails.  This scene reminds me of when we last went to visit Little River Canyon State Park in Alabama.

I just adore this sentiment!  Good 'ole Roy Rogers sang that familiar song.   Check out the day one April release below.  You won't believe what the design team has come up with.  Seriously.  Check out Jenny Ewing's Birthday Cake card!!  You'll find this card featured on the day 2 release, tomorrow.

Get this versatile set for yourself today!  Be sure and check out the other new releases at the link below.  We've got everything this month...from birthday greetings, to get well, to this super cool western set and more.

So Suzy Stamps Prancing Reindeer

(FTC disclosure: This post may contain affiliate links so, if you purchase a product using the link I may receive a small commission. I only participate in affiliate programs that feature products that I use and love. Your purchase price is not affected in any way, by using my links.)
(2nd project today)

I've been wanting to break in a couple stamps and since I finally had a day off from work, and, I was in the mood to make a Christmas card, I went to work.

I'm using two different stamps from So Suzy Stamps, the reindeer and the sentiment.  I love So Suzy Stamps!  She has such fun, quirky and unique stamps to choose from, and lots of other products as well.  The stencil, the Stickles glitter glue, the Flower Soft....they came from her store as well.  I love one stop shopping!

I've used a number of techniques on this card and various inks from ombre to chalk ink to distress ink.  I'm not a snob when it comes to ink.  I believe in throwing it all out there.

For the sky and clouds, I used Powder Puff chalk ink, even using a paper towel to scrunch on that lavender color.  For the snow, I dabbed my Tim Holtz Picket Fence dabber onto an acrylic block, spritzed with water, then dipped a small tipped paintbrush and tapped my splatters onto the sky.

The trees were stenciled with the Evergreen stencil from The Crafters Workshop in Hero Arts Ombre Ink, then I added Stickles glitter glue and Polar White Flower Soft for the snow.  I also inked the deer with Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy distress ink, then added Ranger Mercury Glass Stickles glitter glue.  The border for my sentiment also has DoubleClick Skittles in Ginger and burlap and string from The Ribbon Resource.

Winter Greetings

Happy Friday!  I have a sweet friend here, Mr. Owl, and he is just hanging out on a branch and chillin' in the cold.  I'm entering him in a couple challenges today.

and

I made an ombre effect using a watercolor technique with Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass distress ink, then added glittery snowflakes using Tombow mono aqua glue and sprinkled glitter.  The sentiment is from the Unity October 2013 kit of the month called Oh Christmas Tree and was partial heat embossed with embossing powder.  The Owl is also from Unity and called Wonderful Owl.  He was watercolored with Tim Holtz distress inks in Brushed Corduroy and the Gathered Twigs distress marker.  The branch is a We R Memory Keepers stamp from a mini set called Yuletide and it was stamped twice and watercolored as well.

Enjoy your weekend and Merry Christmas!
