Last Minute Gift Tags

Here we are on Christmas Eve and I've got some last minute gift tags, for Paper House Productions.

I'm one of those who refuses to go out and buy gift tags, when I can easily make them quickly myself.  Besides, handmade is more special, right?  Today, I'm using scrapbook papers from the Christmas Joy Craft Set, along with other Paper House holiday elements.  Scroll down for more.

I'll be honest.  These tags happened, quite by accident.  I chose the red/white striped paper included in the kit.  It's double side and features some really gorgeous cut out images on the flip side.  Well, when I die cut my red/white paper with my nesting tag dies and flipped it over, look what happened..... practically perfect tags that were better than I could have dreamed!

There's the little edged, sectioned circles that were perfect for adding a stamped "to" and "from".  Next, add some gold foiled accents from the Christmas Magic Cardstock Stickers included in the kit.  

Layer your gold accented cardstock stickers with a strip of Christmas Joy Washi Tape to finish off your tag.

Autumn Recipe Mini Tag Album Plus Video

Hello crafters, I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!  I'm up on the Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L blog today, featuring this Autumn Recipe Mini Tag Album.  At our house, we're always scrambling to get a favorite recipe from Uncle Bob or Aunt Sue.  This is a great way to keep track of those recipes.  Plus, you can break it out every Thanksgiving and add more recipe cards each year!.  It makes a great display piece as well and if you're really in a crafty mood, make a bunch to gift to your relatives or friends.  They will love you for it!  I have a video for you today as well and will show you how I turned my own hand drawn pumpkin into this 3D pop up embellishment.  Plus, I'm coloring foam leaves.  I've got special tips for this process as well.

Christmas Angel tag for Unity Stamps + Prize

This is one of two projects that I'm sharing today.  (If you're looking for my project with Graciellie Design, go here.)  It's day 3 of my feature with the Unity Stamp Company as their Growing in Unity Girl.  Today, I've made a glittery vintage Christmas tag, featuring the Susan Weckesser stamp set, "World of Christmas".

My stamp was inked with Ranger Ink Distress Oxide in Vintage Photo, on a trimmed piece of Heartfelt Creations designer paper from the Every Day Heroes collection.  The paper design and colors went well with the vintage look that I was going for.  

I've fashioned some wings for this sweet angel, out of a medium sized white ribbon rosette, trimmed in half, then cut some half moon shaped strips from May Arts Ribbon sheer glitter ribbon and stapled them over the partial stamped wing image.  Her little halo is a tiny strip of tinsel string adhered with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L extreme tape.  I've also embossed some gold stickles glitter glue and Platinum Pearl liquid pearls with a dot stencil.   I quickly dried them with my heat emboss tool to speed things along.

Behind my tag, I have an extra layer with gold satin ribbon peeking out, along with gold mesh ribbon.  The topper on my tag was achieved by using some Sizzix dies.  Did I mention I tinted her eyes, just a touch?  I used the fine tip of a teal Marvy Le Plume II brush marker.

I intended to add a sentiment but, guess what?  I forgot!  I was so happy with this little angel, I couldn't wait to take her picture.  I think she looks just fine without a sentiment though.

Monarch Birthday Tag for So Suzy Stamps

Today, I'm mixing it up a little bit, creating this mixed media birthday tag for So Suzy Stamps. I rarely make tags, although it's a super fun and crafty thing to do.  I just love cards so much, that I rarely veer from that.  However, I needed to make one for a specific gift, so here we are.  I'm featuring several stamps from the new August release; Monarch Butterfly, Happiest Moments and Small Solid Butterflies.  Scroll down for details.......

First off, I've been experimenting with Ranger distress oxide inks and had actually made this card base, textured stenciled arrows and all, but had set it aside because I just wasn't feeling it.  You know the feeling, right?  I made a video recently showing how to make a cloud background with oxides and this uses that same technique, inking a torn paper edge, but going in vertical and horizontal directions.  The stenciled arrows were created by laying down an arrow stencil, spreading a goop of Nuvo crystal drops with a palette knife and sprinkling gold extra fine glitter on top, then allowing to dry.   So, that's my base.

For my butterfly, I heat embossed my Monarch butterfly on vellum with Nuvo Hot Chocolate embossing powder.  Because vellum will curl when wet, I taped down all the edges, then colored with Tombow brush markers.  I quickly heat dried, then applied a thin coat of Nuvo, clear Morning Dew Crystal Drops and heat set with my craft heat tool.  It gets a little bubbly but that just adds to the fun of mixed media textures.

Next, I stamped my sentiment on vellum, swiping the stamp with a brown Tombow marker, heat setting, then carefully writing over the sentiment with an Arteza Premium glitter pen.  Be very careful when doing this, that you don't smudge your wording.  Zap with a heat tool to dry.

Before placing my vellum popped out sentiment, I stamped the small solid butterflies along the bottom right and top right of my tag, so they're peeking out.  These were inked with Ranger Brushed Corduroy distress ink.

I added lots of burlap ribbon, twine, string and more with my Westcott hot glue pen.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.  It's yet another reminder to never throw away your experiments.  You never know when they might come in handy for another project.  If you'd like to create with any of these products, I have shopping links below.  Thanks for stopping in today!
