Birthday Maze Card for Erin Lee Creative

Hello lovelies. I'm joining some of my designer friends for a fun Instagram hop today featuring the new release from Erin Lee Creative that was released a few days ago. It's got something for everyone! I love that Erin always comes up with something different that you won't find anywhere else. Her products are innovative and unique! That's her super power, haha! Jumbo Sentiments and Coordinating Dies

Now, I'm generally not a fan of piecing together intricate die cuts. I just don't have the patience for it. With that being said, I actually enjoyed mixing up and adhering the various colors of cardstock that were die cut with the Maze cover plate.

I chose some complimentary colors from a variety of paper pads in my stash: white, pink, yellow and a confetti patterned paper from a birthday paper pad. 

I think adding that patterned paper was a smart choice. It gives this card a little something extra, don't you think?

For my die cut bow, I did some ink blending along the edges with my Catherine Pooler ink and a blender brush, then used adhesive foam tape to pop up each die cut element.

My sentiment was stamped with black hybrid ink and also the same ink I used for the bow, CP Bay Breeze.

I thought about adding sequins but I think the patterned paper provided enough "bling" that sequins weren't really necessary.

I saved all my leftover pieces and frames from the various colors, storing them in a baggy so I can create more cards in the future with those bits.

Elegant Foiled Cards plus Hop Celebration

Hello friends. I'm joining some designer friends today to help my friend Deborah Hellman celebrate her Instagram follower milestone with an Instagram Hop. My cards were created with the Pinkfresh Studio Peony Print hot foil plate. I used my Spellbinders Espresso Bean hot foil and my Glimmer hot foil system with my Platinum 6 die cut system.

My card duo actually incorporates 3 different foiled white A2 card panels.

The first foiled panel resulted in an all white card panel with the foiled outline of the print.

The second card panel was foiled using the negative peeling of foil left from my first foiling. You need a solid hot foil plate to achieve this. You simply heat your solid foil plate, place the negative foiling, shiny side down, place your cardstock on top, then your Glimmer plates and heat.

This technique results in a negative foiling, with the foil more prominent than the image.

The third card panel was created again with the use of my solid hot foil plate, a trimmed piece of espresso bean foil and cardstock to create a panel that is completely hot foiled with no image. I used this for the backdrop of my first card above.

I love to piece together foiled and negative foiled panels, so I used my nested rectangle dies to cut a center rectangle from the white foiled card (first photo). I also cut a frame for use on my second card.

For my second, negative foiled card panel, I again die cut a rectangle in the center. However, I adhered the remainder of my "brown" card panel to an A2 vertical card, then popped up my center with adhesive foam strips. I then adhered the white frame from the first card.

Look closely and you'll see that all my negative foiling (as pictured above) perfectly lines up and matches the white foiled frame from the first card. This results in positive and negative foiling all on one card. It's a lot of fun, you should try it!

My sentiments were hot foiled using the Spellbinders Slimline Essential Glimmer Sentiments and also popped up on adhesive foam strips.

Gratitude Card Celebrating Scrapbook.com 25th Anniversary

I could not let August go by without celebrating Scrapbook.com and their 25 year Anniversary in business! I am so thankful that they gave me the opportunity years ago to create projects for them on occasion, and even happier that this relationship continues. Although, I'm an affiliate, project designer and brand ambassador for a number of companies in the craft and hobby industry, my relationship with them has been the longest and they hold a special place in my heart!

With that being said, I wanted to honor Scrapbook.com's anniversary by creating a gratitude card, thanking them for being such an amazing company. Scroll down for creative details and a little chit chat. I'll have a clickable shopping/supply list at the end of this post, as well.

When I heard that August is their Anniversary month, I considered making a birthday or anniversary card in celebration. Ultimately though, I feel such gratitude and decided I needed to follow my heart.

Luckily, I have some really awesome Scrapbook.com exclusive products in my stash that fit the bill. I wanted to keep this card really clean though, with lots of white. I also opted for Fall colors because it's my favorite time of year and I've been feeling all the Fall feels lately.

I chose the Wildflower Branches Stamp and Die Set, and the Gratitude Stamp and Die Set to create with. I also created an embossed backdrop with one of my favorite Spellbinders 3D embossing folders, using my black Spellbinders Platinum 6 die cut system which is an exclusive product available only at Scrapbookcom. Every year around November leading up to the holidays, I purchase myself a new tool and last year I bought the black Platinum 6. I love it so much!

I began by stamping my images using my Misti stamp positioner with my Scrapbookcom black hybrid ink. Hybrid ink works well with alcohol markers but also for watercoloring, which is my technique used for today.

The other inks I used were Catherine Pooler inks, which are a water based ink. I created with this quartet of inks: Catching Rays, Orange Twist, Eucalyptus and Macchiato. Simply press the ink pad onto your project mat or craft mat, and grab the color with a damp waterbrush. I generally mix in a tiny bit of water into some of my ink so I can layer my colors, light to dark.

My sentiment from the Gratitude stamp and die set was stamped with the same CP inks above (which the exception of Macchiato) to tie all my colorful elements together. 

All of my elements are popped up with Scrapbookcom adhesive strips and I also embellished just a bit with Scrapbookcom Pops of Color liquid gloss embellishment in Sunflower.
