Christmas Critter Coffee Card

Hey friends. Today's card was created for the August Caffeinated Christmas Card Challenge. I love participating in challenges now and then, as it allows me to use supplies I already have on hand and get creative outside the scope of what I might not normally do. The theme this month is cute critters and it must be a new Christmas/Holiday card that is coffee, tea and/or cocoa themed. I opted to create a shaker card, to use up what I have, which is a lot! I used a mix of different brand sequins for my mix, the majority of which is Buttons Galore but I believe it's a retired shaker mix. I've had it for years, but the colors tie in with my theme. I also used nested circle dies to create the space for the shaker mix and also for the backdrop to my reindeer mug.

In the photo below, I used adhesive strips to contain my shaker mix. I also used two A2 size acetate sheets (slightly trimmed). One was adhered under my snowflake patterned paper and the other was placed on top of my shaker mix to seal everything in.

My purpose for doing that was two-fold. One, I wanted my plaid paper that's adhered to my card to show through. And two, by creating an entire separate shaker panel, it allows me to easily line up and place my shaker panel on top of my scored card without loosing any bits of shaker mix.

The products that I used are mostly Catherine Pooler Designs/Inks. My reindeer mug is from the Holiday Mug Shots stamp set and I colored my stamped image with OLO Markers. 

Here are the marker colors I used:

RV0.1 & R5.3 (pinks)

CR1.0, OR 3.4 and OR 3.7 (browns)

My sentiment is from the same stamp set and I inked it with my CPD Macchiato ink pad, also swiping some Cotton Candy ink on white cardstock which was trimmed as a backing for my sentiment.

My papers are from the CPD Cookies & Milk patterned paper pack. I love pink for Christmas cards and definitely went looking for pink things in my stash that would work. Because there's a lot going on with the shaker, I opted to keep everything else somewhat simple. I typically  create first and measure later, including scoring my own cards.
