A few months ago, Erin Lee Creative came out with a breakfast food collection and I still can't get enough of it! I've had this idea in my head and finally sat down to put it on paper. I'm featuring the Egg & Bacon die set and the Breakfast Sentiments stamp set. Scroll down for creative details and my supply list, plus a bonus!

First, I die cut 7 eggs, using my Catherine Pooler ink Icing On The Cake to blend around the edges, and then swiping some of my edges directly onto the ink pad.
I also pressed that same ink onto an acrylic block, spritzed with water and used a wet paintbrush to make some ink splatters on my eggs.
One of my favorite paper pads is from Scrapbookcom and it's called Daybreak. It has the perfect colors for making my bacon die cuts.
I'm always looking for shortcuts to speed up the creative process, so I used my reverse tweezers to apply glue on my bacon strips, to adhere two at the same time to my solid bacon die cuts.
I don't have a photo, but I also did some ink blending on both sides of my bacon with more of the Catherine Pooler Icing on the Cake ink, using a detailer blender brush. But, you wouldn't necessarily need to do this. I couldn't tell a whole lot of difference after ink blending the bacon. I should have probably used a darker ink.
Next, I splattered some black paint because some folks like their bacon crispy, haha. It kind of looks like pepper bacon so that's a bonus feature!
For my card panel, I started with an A2 size piece of black cardstock but ended up trimming it down to 3.75 x 4.75 inches. I felt like there was too much space for the number of die cuts I made, and I chose to just scale down my card panel, rather than make more die cuts.
My full dimensions for my finished card ended up being 4.25 x 5.25 inches.
Most of my die cuts were offset from the edges and once I applied adhesive, I trimmed off the edges.
The Breakfast Sentiment stamp set has sooo many great sentiments, 11 in total. I used the mask technique which really requires that you use a stamp positioner.
Here's how the mask technique works:
- First I covered the word egg on my stamp with tape.
- I inked all the other words with black ink and removed the tape,
then stamped on white cardstock.
- Next, I covered the all the words on my stamp with tape, except the word egg.
- I stamp the word egg with yellow ink, removed all the tape and stamped.
-Lastly, I opted to add a little more definition to my word egg (with no tape).
I lightly tapped my black ink pad over the word egg on my stamp and made
my final stamping. This step is optional but I really like how it looks.
If you've never tried this technique, it's a lot of fun and once you get the hang of it, you'll want to do it again and again. Just always remember to remove your tape before stamping on cardstock or you'll have a mess on your hands and have to start over.
Using a stamp positioner allows you to achieve all of this by keeping your stamp in the same position at all times, as well as your cardstock. You can even stamp more layers of ink, if you didn't get a good inking the first time.
By the way, the yellow ink that I used was Catherine Pooler Catching Rays. and the yellow cardstock was from another Scrapbookcom paper pad called Joyful. It's a really good deep yellow, like an egg yolk!
If you don't have these stamps and dies from ELC, you are missing out on some super fun cardmaking! It's one of my all time favorite sets and I've reached for it many times.
