Hello friends. As many of you know, I'm a huge tea lover. I often share my daily sips in my stories on Instagram and Facebook. Did you know landscape tea kettles are a thing? In fact, many coffee and tea brands are collaborating with artists to design artistic tea kettles for their lineup of products. I think that's so cool! With that in mind, I came up with the idea to create my own landscape tea kettle, featuring Pajama Crafter Stamps and OLO Markers. Scroll down for details. The Pajama Crafters Stamps products that I'm using today are the "Your My Cup of Tea" Flash Cards and the "Honor Valor Pride" stamp set.
The OLO Markers that I used are shown in the photo above.
I also used a variety of products from Scrapbookcom: adhesive, A2 vertical cards, solid paper from the Daybreak paper pad, a white gel pen, my Misti stamp positioner, mint tape, black acrylic paint, a paint brush and a trimmer.
As you can see in the photo above, I masked the entire area around my tea kettle surface with the mint tape, which then allows me to stamp directly into that space with my stamp positioner.
After removing all the tape, I colored the image with my OLO Markers, and added stars to the sky with my white gel pen. I also applied other white highlights on the top of my kettle and the spout.
I did trim my card panel down just a bit, before adhering to some solid purple paper from my paper pad. I also trimmed my A2 white card as well, so this is just a tad smaller than an A2 sized card.
I also covered my kettle before adding some paint splatters to my card panel, mixing a small amount of paint with a drop of water and splattering it about with a wet paint brush.
I would love to see my tea loving friends make their own landscape or artist kettles in their cardmaking. This technique is not limited to just tea kettles though. The masking technique is frequently used for applying stamped or stenciled images in an isolated space. Give it a try, if you've never done this before. It's so much fun!
I'm so glad you stopped in today. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments. You're also welcome to leave a lovely comment, if you like. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Terri
