Baby Closet Card featuring Scrapbook.com

It's time to re-supply my stash of baby shower cards. I always seem to be out when I need one, and I have the perfect products in my stash to jumpstart the re-build. My first idea was to create a closet scene and it was easier than you think! Now, keep in mind, I tend to create first and measure later. My full card dimension is 4.25 x. 5 inches, just under an A2 size card.

I started by creating my closet base with white cardstock. This was trimmed to 3.75 x just under 4.50 inches. I measured 1/2 an inch from both edges of my cardstock and scored vertically.

The last step was to score angled lines all the way down each 1/2 inch side to create a "shutter door" look. I also trimmed the top edge on both sides at an angle.

My other papers, including the grey background and patterned paper, were trimmed to fit within my dimensions.

My pretty patterned papers are from the Scrapbookcom Cottontail paper pad and are perfect for little girl soft pastel spring colors. I also used some of my new Scrapbookcom A2 cardstock papers for various elements and here's the breakdown:

Classic Cardstock - Almost Gray (backing for card panel_

Heavyweight Cardstock - Cobblestone (bench/trimmed clothes pole)

Glimmer Cardstock - Pink Delight (hanger)

Swiss Dot Cardstock - Lavender (apparel collar)

All of the stamped and die cut elements are popped up on adhesive foam for added dimension. I should mention, for that cute hanger, I die cut it with white cardstock and also the pink Glimmer cardstock, then trimmed off the curved white portion of the hanger, gluing it to my pink die cut. I wanted it to look like those pretty pink cushion baby hangers.

And just because... how about a quick English lesson, because I had to look up hangar/hanger for the proper spelling here. Yes, I had to correct every spelling for "hangar" which references large spaces like an aircraft hangar. "Hanger" should be used for everything else! Good to know, haha!

Lastly, my sentiment was stamped with my Catherine Pooler Designs Black Jack ink and I also embellished that cute little outfit with Pops of Color in Soft Lavender for all the little centers of the blossoms on the outfit.

My goal was to keep this card somewhat simplistic in appearance. To me, the outfit is the star of the show and there's no need to detract too much from that.
