Creative Kindness Initiative for Scrapbook.com

Hello friends! I'm so happy to share this project today for Scrapbook.com, in collaboration for a special initiative with the Creative Kindness Foundation. Through their Cards for Kindness program, cardmakers all over the world donate their handmade cards which are then distributed to various organizations, spreading kindness to those in need. Did you know that with every purchase made at Scrapbook.com, a portion of those sales is also donated to benefit the Creative Kindness Foundation?

This card was created specifically for a fundraising initiative. Scroll down for creative details on my card, as well as information on the Creative Kindness donation gift bundle!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

With your $50 donation, you will receive a Creative Kindness Donation Kit which includes the products below:

A5 stamp set, coordinating die set, 5x5 inch stencil, 6x4 inch embossing folder and a randomly selected 8.5 x 11 inch paper pack.

This fundraiser initiative runs from May 18th through May 31st, 2026.  Just tap the donation button here for all the details.

This is a little off topic although relevant, but let me share some details on my dad. I think I've mentioned before, he had a stroke back in January of this year. He is mobile now and doing better but his speech is still affected. He had a mini-stroke last week and landed back in the hospital for 2 days. It was determined to be the result of being off his blood thinners for an invasive procedure, as well as AFIB.

He's back at home now and doing better and I spent the weekend caring for him, making his favorite potato soup and banana bread. My dad has also developed a love of bird watching, thanks to my brother setting up some bird feeders near the patio. I snapped these photos over the weekend. So, making this hummingbird card is so meaningful to me, and I plan to give it to my dad.

Let me try and be brief. Yes, I know, it's hard for me to shut my mouth sometimes, but I'll make a valiant effort today! I'm sure I will fail miserably!

I wanted my card to be colorful, yet simplistic, so I decided to create a watercolor and ink splattered card panel using my Scrapbookcom A2 white Mixed media cardstock, paired with Catherine Pooler inks. You'll need a paintbrush and some mint tape, or other low tack tape.

As an avid stamper, I'm typically compelled to color my stamped images with markers or watercolors. This is me, stepping outside my comfort zone though, letting the color on the paper set the tone, and the black and white images be a compliment to the color.

I used my 1" mint tape and offset all sides of my card panel by approximately half an inch, then lined up my images to get an idea of where I wanted to create my color.

I decided on two colors for my hummingbird, and two colors for my blooms.
The Catherine Pooler inks used are: Sweetheart, Uptown, Orange Twist and Mardi Gras.

This is such an easy technique, anyone can do it!! Simply press your waterbased ink pad onto a craft mat, spritz with water and grab your color with a damp paintbrush. A large round brush works best. Just paint small sections, cleaning your brush between colors. Go ahead and tap your wet, inky brush to create splatters, as well, then heat set before moving on to the next color.

I covered the upper left section, where I planned on stamping my sentiment, before splattering my ink.

With masking tape still intact, I stamped my images with the exception of my sentiment. Next, I pulled off the tape on one side, grabbed a ruler and began to draw a "frame" for my scene, with a fine liner black pen, one line at a time.  Using the outer flat edges of my stamping as the guideline for where my lines needed to be drawn was key.

Once I felt secure with my first line, I proceed to pull off the remaining strips of tape. There are stamped edges on all four sides that helped me line up my ruler appropriately to draw my rectangle. You could also just pull one strip of tape at a time and draw one line at a time, if that makes you feel more comfortable.

Next, I stamped my sentiment. There are numerous sentiments included with this stamp set. I chose the one that has a flourish and intentionally stamped it so the flourish would fall outside the lines of my rectangle. 'Cause I'm fancy like that, haha!

Once I assembled my card, using the cardstock from my bundle as the backing to my card panel, and a trimmed and scored side fold card, I added some Pops of Color liquid embellishment. I used Soft Lavender, Turquoise Waters and Summer Peach, placing small dots in various sections.

I use a trick to flatten my liquid dots so they end up looking like enamel dots. You'll want to do this as soon as you get all your liquid dots on the card before they can dry, so work quickly.

Are you ready to get aggressive? Well, not too aggressive. Simply grab your card and slap it on a hard flat surface. Yes, slap it, haha! Your dots will immediately flatten out. This is one of my FAVORITE tricks!

You may want to experiment first, to see how big you want to make your dots, because the bigger the dot, the wider the spread.

I'm so happy that Scrapbook.com invited me to create for this lovely and worthwhile event. Again, simply tap the donate button here for details. My supply list below does not have the bundle listed, as it is not a stocked item to purchase in the Scrapbookcom shop. It is only available at the Creative Kindness link above.
