Ocean Waves Card for Catherine Pooler Designs

Happy Friday friends! It's the kickoff to the weekend and I am typically giddy on Fridays! I'm bringing you another project for Catherine Pooler Designs, featuring products from the Ocean Wonders collection. I'm also reaching into my stash, using other CPD products today too. I know we all love to use our stash more, right?

But, today's card is mostly about the Oceans Wonders Patterned Paper. I adore patterned paper and today's project is guaranteed to have you whipping out a card in 15 minutes or so, depending on how fast or slow you move, haha!

This was such a fun card to make. I love making beach cards and if it involves ripping paper,
even better! Feeling anxious or stressed? Rip some paper!

First, I tore 4 different papers from the Ocean Wonders patterned paper pack. I also picked out some cardstock from my Spa Mix Assorted Cardstock. It's called Tranquil and is such a soft, pretty blue.

I trimmed some of the Tranquil cardstock, adhering my ripped papers to it. I lined up the largest scalloped die from the CPD Dots & Scallops die set and ran it through my Platinum 6 die cut machine.

Because of the way I adhered my ripped papers to the cardstock, it was thicker at the bottom, so I had to rotate and run through my Platinum 6 a couple times to get a good cut.

Next, I heat embossed my sentiment from the Beautiful Seas Sentiments stamp set. I stamped with my Cargo ink twice, using my stamp positioner, then applied Wow Embossing fine clear embossing powder, tapping off the excess before heat setting it.

I mentioned previously here on my blog that I accidentally poured some of my excess Wow Halo embossing glitter into the wrong jar. My clear embossing powder was the wrong jar, haha! So yes, it has a mix of clear and glitter embossing powder. Can you see the sparkle? Kind of a happy accident!

I wanted to keep my embellishing minimal because of all the busyness of the patterned paper. So, I grabbed some burlap string from my stash for embellishing, creating a bow as well.

I used my heat gun to glue down the bow, and also to glue down my enamel dot in the center of the bow. Since it's not a flat surface, there's no way that enamel dot would stay put. It's ok to use your enamel dots, however the situation fits! It's called being "creative"!

For the backing to my card panel, I wanted a dark neutral color. I grabbed a sheet of my CPD Over Coffee cardstock and die cut with the largest dotted rectangle die from the Dots & Scallops die set.

That Dots & Scallops die set got a good workout for this project today!

I must say, I absolutely love all my CPD products. I especially love the new cardstocks. I highly advice you to get some if you haven't already. The Over Coffee cardstock is going to be used a LOT as well, especially for Fall and Winter projects.

And here I am, using that brown cardstock on a summer beach card. It works though because it's a neutral and I feel like it helps my summer scene to pop even more!

What do you think about my color pairings today? Would you or do you use brown cardstock year round? I'd love to know. Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a fantastic weekend. See you next time!
