Fruit and Sunshine Card for Scrapbookcom

Hello friends. I have a juicy card today that I've created for Scrapbook.com. This card reminds me of summer picnics on my Grandparent's farm in upstate New York - fresh lemonade, watermelon and hot charcoals firing up for the grill! The patterned paper even looks like a tablecloth, don't you think?  This A2 Fruit Slice Die (from the Market Bloom Collection) that I'm using is part of today's Livestream deal at Scrapbook.com. It's a good one so be sure and check it out! I'll also have clickable affiliate links at the end of this post, if you'd like to shop or browse for more information.

I wanted to watercolor the flesh part of the lemons but didn't want to fool with a ton of little die cut bits. The solution? Emboss with the die plate! I used my Scrapbookcom White Mixed Media cardstock for this, with my Platinum 6 die cut machine. It embossed beautifully and it's so convenient that the sandwich settings are right on the base plate of my Platinum 6, for embossing and die cutting.

I watercolored just the flesh portion of the embossed fruit, using Ranger Distress Fossilized Amber ink. I just press the ink onto my craft mat, spritz with a little water, then use my waterbrush to pick up the inky mixture to paint. You don't have to be precise here. When dry, I added white paint splatters. I diluted a bit of paint with a drop or two of water, then splattered with a damp paintbrush.

The image below is a little bright due to my lighting. The Fossilized Amber ink is actually a tad darker.Take note of all the white space around the lemons because I'm going to do some paper piecing with die cuts!

When I came up with the concept for this card, I had a vision in mind but decided to switch it up mid-way in the creative process, and I'm so glad I did.

I was going to frame my lemons with a dark yellow Fruit Slice die cut, however, when I placed it over my lemons there was way too much yellow.

So I switched up and cut my Fruit slice die with white cardstock, punching out all the bits to have a frame around my embossed, watercolored fruit panel and it looks so much better!

I also cut a 2nd piece with my fruit die and Platinum 6, using patterned paper from the SBC Joyful paper pad. I used the negative pieces to fill the white space around the fruit and I think it turned out great!

I used my SBC Artis glue to adhere everything down, particularly since there are so many detailed lines to adhere.

Lastly, I created my sentiment using a coral colored paper from the SBC Playful Solid Paper Pad, as my outline die cut, along with the SBC Hello Sweet Sentiments Die Set from the Market Bloom collection.

My top sentiment layer was die cut using white cardstock and adhered to my outline. I've used the SBC
3 mm adhesive strips to pop up my sentiment.

Thanks so much for stopping by. If you missed the Livestream which usually features card tutorials every Thursday at 12 pm ET (using the Livestream deal of the week), you can catch the replay here.

Come back tomorrow, I'll have another card to share!

Terri

Gnome Valentine Cards for Scrapbookcom

Hello friends, I took a little time off over the last month but I'm back with a project for Scrapbook.com featuring the Love Gnomes bundle. This is today's Livestream deal and will only be available at the discounted price for a limited time. You can view the Livestream here at Scrapbookcom, if you'd like to see a live tutorial, created with some of these products. This bundle will not be available for purchase until the Livestream begins at 11 am ET today, however individual product items are available for purchase now.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

The livestream bundle includes the Love Gnomes stamp and die set and the A2 size Berry Sweet patterned paper pad. You can also purchase these items separately and I have all the products linked at the end of this post.

The papers that I'm working with however, are from the Merry Paper pad since that is what I had on hand to create these cards. I was so happy to find the pretty striped paper in this pad, which worked perfectly for what I had in mind.

I also had the DIY Pocket Heart die in my stash so I thought I would use it to stamp my gnome images. It comes with two different size hearts and I used the larger one. I cut the hearts with my black Platinum 6 on white cardstock, stamped my gnomes in my Misti stamp positioner on the hearts, and did some ink blending across the top and bottom of my hearts.

I'm a big fan of red and pink for Valentines and kept my coloring simplistic so that all my gnomes coordinate in their color scheme. I used alcohol markers and the Scrapbookcom hybrid ink works very well with alcohol markers. This is a coordinating set so all my papers match, as well.

Let me also mention that I adhered my pocket heart dies pretty flat but you can actually slightly bend the hearts so the folded tabs are pushed slightly inward, and create more of a gap for the pocket. A small treat will easily fit behind the pocket heart!

For my ink blending, and partial sentiment stamping, I used my Catherine Pooler Rockin' Red ink pad, along with my Scrapbookcom black hybrid ink. These were also die cut with my Platinum 6 die cut system and the Love Gnomes coordinating die set. I absolutely love the fonts in this set!

If you'd like to do some shopping or just look around the shop, just click any of my affiliate product links. If you do shop, be sure and stop by the coupon section to see if there are any free add-on gifts with purchase. As of this writing, there are 2!

Thanks so much for stopping by and Happy Valentine's Day, coming up!

Terri
