Non-Traditional Christmas Card feat. SweetNSassy Stamps

Hello lovelies. Today's card is not your typical Christmas card. I'm creating with products from Sweet N Sassy Stamps, featuring the Christmas Hymn Word Art stamp set and leaves from the Vintage Holly stamp set. First, I absolutely had to have the Christmas Hymn Word Art stamp set. I'm a church pianist and have a special affinity for hymn songs. The words to this hymn were written by Charles Wesley in 1744. It was actually written as "Come Though Long Expected Jesus" and commonly found in Protestant hymnals. 

I wanted to create a card reflecting old parchment, something out of an old book or old hymnal.

I thought the best way to proceed would be to do some ink smooshing and ink blending which is exactly what I did. This is a mini-slimline card, by the way, and I began by trimming some white cardstock, then stamped my sentiment with hybrid black ink and leaves from the Vintage Holly stamp set using Leather hybrid ink. 

Next, I ink smooshed on all sides using Ranger Distress Oxide ink in Vintage Photo, heat set it, then proceeded to ink blend around all sides with Ranger Distress Ink in Ground Espresso. It's very dark and just what I was going for.

Lastly,  I adhered some gold half pearls and gold sequins from my stash and dotted on some gold glitter glue for more sparkle. 

My card panel is popped up on adhesive foam with a trimmed piece of black cardstock adhered to my mini-slimline card.

Winter Floral Card for Scrapbook.com

Hey cardmakers, I've got a card today featuring today's Livestream special from Scrapbook.com. This week's special bundle includes a set of Winter Floral rub-ons, ergonomic scissors ( I have them and love them!) and the Christmas Block word dies.

 

I chose this gorgeous rub-on wreath, using the wooden stick included in the set to apply to my cardstock. It's so quick and easy to adhere.

I don't have the word dies included in the bundle, so I chose to stamp a sentiment from the Christmas Expressions stamp set and heat embossed with clear embossing ink and white embossing powder. My dark green papers are from the Joyful Paper Pad and the circle was cut using my Platinum 6 and Waffle Flower stitched circle dies.

I also used my Pops of Color for some splatters. I squeezed some of my Olive and Chocolate Kiss gloss colors onto a craft mat. For my Olive, I spritzed a little water and mixed it, grabbed the mixture with a small paint brush and splattered around my card panel.

For the Chocolate Kiss, I simply dabbed the opposite end of my paintbrush into the color and dabbed larger dots onto my panel. Easy Peasy! It dries quickly too.

Stitched Christmas Card for Spellbinders

The new Spellbinders Stitching Die of the Month club selection is out and I'm absolutely loving it! "I'll Be Home For Christmas" is the titled collection and includes a cover plate (and outline die) with ornament cutouts, a tree, etched sentiments, and even ornament toppers in two different sizes.

So many of the elements in this collection can be used independently as well, which I love. There's just something about stitching on cards that seems so meaningful. The extra attention and detail tells the recipient that they were worth the effort, you know what I mean?

I also had a lot of fun sparkling up my card, too. For my ornament toppers, I placed my dies on adhesive foam sheets and ran them through my Platinum 6. Next, I peeled off the top lining and applied a strip of Spellbinders glimmer foil. I love the shine! I also added little dots of glitter glue all over my card panel, as well.

I used white DMC embroidery floss, 2 strands, for my stitched die cuts. There are so many color schemes you can go with on a project like this, however, I chose 3 main colors; white, pink and a mint green.

My coordinating papers are from a Scrapbookcom holiday paper pad called Merry.
