Lucky Charm Card

Hello friends. I have a card to share that features the Sketched Clovers stamp and die set from Simon Says Stamp. This can be purchased as a bundle or the individual stamp or die set. Scroll down for creative details, including how indecisive I was with a particular technique while making this!

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

Initially, I used the mask technique for my stamped clovers.

This involves stamping your image on masking tape and fussy cutting the stamped tape.

First I stamped my four leaf clover, then I placed my masking tape over the image, as pictured below. This allows you to stamp around the focal point and have other images appear is if they were in the background. When done, simply peel off the tape.

I had also stamped and die cut some clovers and I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted to use them, instead of just the masked images. So, I went to Facebook and polled my friends. It was a pretty even split between using the die cuts or not.  I eventually decided to go with the die cut clover on top of my masking. I think the dimension really adds a lot.

To stamp my clovers, I used Catherine Pooler Eucalyptus ink, then colored with just one OLO Marker, YG2.5, Avocado. Simon Says Stamps carries several OLO Marker collections, including the Forest Collection which includes YG2.5. I highly recommend these colors, they're some of my favorites! If you wish to purchase individual markers, you can find them through this affiliate link to OLO Marker.

I also did a little watercoloring around the outline of my stamped clovers, using Catherine Pooler Slate ink. Just press the ink onto a craft mat, spritz with water and paint with a paintbrush!

Some other fun elements include embellishing my clovers with a white gel pen and splattering some paint around my card. I also used the mask technique to stamp my sentiment. Just cover tape over the portion of your wording that you wish to block out to stamp in different colors. Just remember to remove the tape before you stamp or you'll have an inky mess on your hands. This technique works best with a stamp positioner. I also adhered some plaid paper from my stash, behind my stamped panel. I've had it for awhile and it's probably retired but I found a Pink & Main collection that I've linked below that has a very similar color.

If you'd like to shop for any of the products that I'm featuring today, just click the brand name below the photos below. I've provided convenient affiliate links at no additional cost to you.

I'm also linking this card to the Simon Says Stamp Anything Goes Challenge on their Wednesday Challenge Blog.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Terri

February Glimmer Foiled Card for Spellbinders

Today's card features the February Glimmer Monthly Club subscription from Spellbinders. The "Spring Canopy" kit includes several sentiment hot foil plates, the leaf hot foil plate, two sentiment outline dies, an edger die for the leaf plate, along with a roll of hot foil . Scroll down for more photos and creative details, along with my supply list at the end of this post.

(FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.)

I received the Lavender Petal hot foil roll with my kit, although colors may vary.

I started by hot foiling with the leaf hot foil plate at the bottom of my paper, then turning my foil plate upside down and foiling the top section, using my Glimmer Hot Foil System.

You also need a die cut system to run your Glimmer platform through. I use my Spellbinders Platinum 6.

The paper that I'm using is from an ombre paper pad. I'll have it linked in my supply list. You can also do ink blending if you prefer, then foil on top. Just make sure your ink is heat set, or dries naturally.

Next, I used my Spellbinders Splatter White for paint splatters on my foiled card panel. The Splatter White is highly concentrated and there is only a small amount in the jar but it will last a long while. Just a little bit mixed with a tiny amount of water will do the job.

I usually mix on a small acrylic block, then flick the paint off the edge with a wet paintbrush.

How many times have you been working on a card, then lose a crucial piece while crafting? It happens more than I care to admit! I created a foiled sentiment and then it disappeared. Rather than start over, which honestly, wouldn't have taken long. I decided to use the negative foiling leftover with my solid hot foil plate and white cardstock. This is also a great way to use up your negative foils.

Just switch out the cardstock color, for whichever color you'd like to peek through for your sentiment.

I also created an extra foiled leafy die cut for the inside of my card. I decided to add a foiled strip at the bottom edge of die cut. I simply adhered a trimmed strip from an adhesive roll, used my Spellbinders Tool N One to peel off the top layer, then rubbed on some the Lavendar Petal hot foil to the adhesive.

I recommend using a bone folder to burnish the foiling before peeling off the top liner of foil. This is to make sure you don't have any blotchy spots where the foiling didn't quite adhere.

If you do have any small spots where the foiling didn't adhere, just press more of the foil in that space and rub.

I finished the inside of my card with a sentiment from the February Stamp & Die of the Month Club subscription, paired with some Catherine Pooler Ink.

I also glued some Spellbinders Sequins for even more sparkle. Spellbinders has side and top fold A2 size cards on their site, however, I prefer the top fold (vertical) cards because they're so much easier to stand for display. You want the recipient to display your card and not toss it! I'll have both linked in my supply list, if you'd like to take a look.

If you're thinking about joining the Glimmer Monthly Club, you have until Feb. 27th to subscribe and receive this months kit which which ship out in March. You can cancel at any time, and rejoin in the future, if a particular club subscription is not to your liking or style.

Check out all the various club subscriptions, here.

Feel free to click any of my links for more product information or to shop. These affiliate links are provided at no additional cost to you and I appreciate when you use them! Have a great day and let me know if you have any questions in the comment section.
