Western Card featuring Erin Lee Creative and Your Paper Insider

I was so excited to receive the new Giddy Up Limited Edition Crafting Kit from Erin Lee Creative this week. As luck would have it, Your Paper Insider's newest subscription box arrived on my doorstep a few days earlier. Something told me, this would be a perfect pairing of products, and I wasn't wrong! Thank you to both companies for sending me these products to create with! Scroll down for some chit chat and creative details. I'll have my supply list linked at the end of this post as well.

First, the products from the ELC Giddy Up crafting kit is a limited edition kit, with a separate add-on purchase of the cow print stencil. However, some items from the kit can be purchased separately, but not all. The Hello Darlin' stamp set is only included in the kit. And, as of this writing, is not available to be purchased separately.

My card also features the Cow Print add-on stencil, and the  Cowboy Boots Die Set which includes  sunflower dies.

Before moving on to creative details, let me talk about Box 11, the latest paper subscription box from Your Paper Insider. Subscribers get their box every quarter, so Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. Check out the FAQ section on their site for answers to all your questions!

Box 11 is this year's Spring box and I love it! It has 28 gorgeous papers/cardstocks curated from all around the world. Each box includes a listing of the type paper or cardstock, the weight and the name.

While there are lots of glittery, bold and colorful choices in Box 11, I chose some of the softer colors from this box, to compliment my western themed card.

Now, let's get down to the creative process. I selected 4 colors from the Your Paper Insider Box 11 kit:

- Buttercream Arturo Cover (just under 100 lb weight)
- Savanna Tindalo Gmund (68 lb weight and textured)
-White Thai Unryu (under 9 lb, translucent)
-Coffee Cover Reflex (almost 130 lb weight)

I started by die cutting some flowers with the sunflower dies included with the ELC Cowboy Boots Die set. To give a really soft, pretty look, I thought it would be interesting to adhere the White Thai Paper to the Buttercream cardstock. This cardstock also serves as the backing to my card panel.

I simply determined how much paper I needed to make 4 die cut flowers, ran my adhesive runner over a section of the Buttercream cardstock, then laid a trimmed section of the White Thai paper on top, running through my Platinum 6 die cut machine. I used the light brown, Savanna Tindalo Gmund paper for the center piece die cuts.

The texture from the White Thai Unryu paper really stands out on these die cuts and I love how these flowers turned out! I also accented my centers with a white gel pen.

Let me also mention, the brown Savanna Tindalo papers have a woodgrain texture that really shows up nicely. It's one of the reasons I chose it for my western theme.

Next, up, let's talk about the stencil. I highly recommend you purchase the stencil! Although the cow print also comes as a hot foil plate, and you can achieve similar, although shiny results (LOL!), not everyone has a foil system. However, most cardmakers do have ink and blending brushes!

Not only will it make the most amazing backgrounds for all the cowboy and cowgirl things, but you can make some really cool die cuts, like my cow print cowboy boots!

When I first opened up my package of goodness from Erin Lee Creative and saw the cow print stencil and boot dies, I knew I was going to pair those two products together.

I've always admired cow print boots and accessories, not to mention they've made a comeback. I stopped at a Bucee's the other day and what do you know, they had a huge selection of cow print products!

I chose my Catherine Pooler Macchiato ink for stenciling as it was just the right match of brown.

The ELC Cowboy Boots dies include two boot dies; an etched outline die, and a coordinating die that makes individual and textured cuts when run through your die cut system.

I decided the Coffee Cover paper would not only serve as a nice card panel, but also as my paper of choice to create the outline boot die cut. The Coffee Cover Reflex cardstock has actual coffee in it and is made from 5% coffee roasting waste. It has a speckled design throughout and it just has a "grit" that I thought would suit my card.

I also made one more die cut with the 2nd boot die, so I could mix in some smaller die cut bits with the brown, textured Savanna papers. I used those bits as the strap at the top of my boots and curved strips at the bottom of my boots.

I live in the southern United States and the quote, "well, butter my biscuits", is absolutely something you might hear from time to time, haha! I definitely wanted to use that sentiment for this card. I trimmed a strip of the Coffee Cover Reflex and stamped on it, using my Misti stamp positioner and the same Catherine Pooler Macchiato ink.

Most of my elements are popped up on adhesive foam strips to give dimension, including the center of my flowers.

Lastly, to give my boots die cut a little more definition, I took the macchiato ink pad and swiped it along the entire edge of my boots die cut.

I've seen some really cool cow print apparel, boots and accessories recently, and in other colors. Red is a popular color in cow print too. I can't wait to see what everyone does with the cow print products from Erin Lee Creative!

Thanks so much for stopping by. I am an affiliate for both Erin Lee Creative and Your Paper Insider. If you chose to make a purchase through my affiliate links, I do receive a small commission, a few cents per dollar, paid by the company.
