Inspiration Scripture Card for Erin Lee Creative

I have never loved a stencil set as much as this one. I've made several cards over the past few months with the Sunset Beach layering stencil from Erin Lee Creative. Erin has a huge sale going on right now with 60% off on the markdown category when you use code SEPTEMBER at checkout. While the layering stencil set is not included in the markdown sale (it is on sale though), the stamp set that I used, "Be The Light", is. I just purchased this stamp set specifically to pair it with my stencil set because I had an idea I wanted to try. With the coupon code, the stamp set is only $6.00! 

I know everyone is sliding into Fall cardmaking, I mean, I am too! However, the ocean, sky and sand were created by God Almighty and has no limitations to the four seasons. Unless of course, you count hurricane season! As I said, this is an inspiration card and my hope is that you are inspired!

Let me start by saying, there is no rhyme or reason behind my color choices. I simply start sifting through my inks and just start picking. I will say, I did have in mind for more of an early evening sky transitioning into a night sky theme. 

My inks for the sky are all Catherine Pooler:

Cove Blue, Frosted, Pebble and Slate

My sea also uses CP inks - Cove Blue and Sea Glass

My beach is Scrapbook.com hybrid ink in Leather 

Because this is an inspirational card, I wanted to also create some beams of light shining down from the Heavens. I used my mint tape to create a masked area (beam) so I could ink blend with white pigment ink.

If you try this, make sure you prep your tape if the ink on your cardstock is fresh and not completely dry. I generally lay the tape across my arm to pick up oils from my skin and help prevent the tape from sticking to my surface. Even so, you still need to carefully peel when removing the tape. It's best to have a dry surface but if you're too impatient like myself, these tricks help to avoid pulling up some of your inked surface and you don't want that to happen after all the gorgeous work you put in!

I also added paint splatters to my sky and a bit on the ocean. I see now that one splatter landed squarely on my sentiment, the word "Let". How the heck did that even happen? I laid a trimmed piece of cardstock across my stamped sentiment before splattering, haha.

I also added some glitter glue across the tops of some of my clouds, and also on the ocean. Because, why not? Never hurts to add a little sparkle, if you have some on hand and I have plenty!

All of my elements are adhered flat and my sentiment was stamped directly onto my inked card panel using my stamp positioner. I also chose a dark blue paper as the backdrop to my inked panel.

Holiday Projects featuring Sizzix and Catherine Pooler for Scrapbook.com

Hello friends, I'm so excited to share some projects today for Scrapbook.com, featuring brand new products from Catherine Pooler for Sizzix! I was thrilled that Scrapbookcom kindly sent me these items to create with and I'll share details on each one below. I've created two cards and an ornament! I'll also have clickable affiliate shopping links throughout this post and also at the end.

I have really fallen in love with layered stencils. They're so easy to work with and the color combinations are endless. The card above features the Folk Tree stencil set. I used a variety of Catherine Pooler Inks which are water based. All you have to do is rinse the stencils when done inking. No soap required!

The CP Inks I used are:

Cranberry Fizz

Green Tea

Eucalyptus

Macchiato

Where you see white on the blooms, I opted to stencil in some white paint.

Next, I selected a sentiment from the stamp set called Greetings Of The Season. I stamped with Cranberry Fizz, using my stamp positioner and also hand trimmed my stamped sentiment, plus a coordinated backing for it. It's popped up on Scrapbookcom adhesive strips to give some dimension.

I also pulled some papers from my Scrapbookcom Noel patterned paper pad that complemented my inks, to create some faux photo corners for my panel.

I stacked several trimmed sections of paper and cut them stacked, to get even corners all around. This is such a gorgeous image, you really don't need to add a ton of embellishment.

Next up is an ornament that I created using the Hanging Ornament Box Thinlets Dies. This set also includes the snowflake and holly/berry dies.

I used more CP inks for my holly and berries, I began by swiping CP Bay Breeze ink across some cardstock, then created my die cuts with the inked cardstock, using my Platinum . I did the same for the berries, using Cranberry Fizz ink, then glued the tiny berries onto my holly. I also added lots of white paint splatters for "snow".

Once again, I opted to use a sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set. I LOVE this set because there are soooo many sentiments! There are 13 stamps in this set, you need it, I'm telling you!

I did some masking when stamping this sentiment because I just wanted one line across the bottom of my boxed ornament. The full sentiment actually says, " 'tis the season to be jolly". Again, I stamped with Cranberry Fizz ink because I absolutely love it for Christmas cardmaking. It's the perfect color of red in my opinion. I also did some ink blending along the bottom edge of my sentiment, again using the Bay Breeze ink. This sentiment was also hand trimmed and popped up on adhesive strips.

For my snowflake, I added some tiny dots of Scrapbookcom Pops of Color in Snowflake, although it's hard to see in the photo above.

Under the snowflake is a shaped thinlet die cut that was also ink blended in the center with Bay Breeze ink, before propping my Snowflake on top. 

I have two different box shaped panels on the inside, with the bottom panel created using the same paper as my box. Both panels are popped up on double adhesive strips.

My patterned paper, by the way, is from the 6x8 inch Peppermint paper pad.

Lastly, I wanted to create a colorful snowflake card, as pictured below. I used the White Christmas Framelits dies and the White Christmas stamp set.

Some of my images are stamped directly onto my A2 card panel, randomly. Some were also inked in multiple colors. For my snowflake die cuts, I again swiped my ink colors onto card stock and created die cuts from the inked paper. 

The CP ink colors used were:

Drive-In

Serenade

Pucker Up

I also did some generation stamping. If you're not familiar with this technique, you stamp with ink, then stamp another image without reinking, for a faded appearance in color.

For the blurred look at the bottom of my sentiment, I did some misting with water over the ink on my stamp. I did cover the upper portion of my stamped image to protect the inking, with tape.

I again hand trimmed my sentiment, following the curves of the lettering, and popped it up on adhesive strips.

There's a tiny little dot stamp included in the White Christmas stamp set. I used to create some colorful "snow" on my card.
